i've become used to a 4500 mah battery in my s3 lasting 12+ hours of heavy game/internet/video use. really want to try the m8 but afraid of the non user replaceable battery.

Short of cutting off the back of the case, and trying to solder a new battery in, and finding one that will work with your phone...no. However, since it's not a user replaceable battery, you kind of answered yourself.

More than likely you'll be able to get a special case with included external battery.

Sure, follow the instructions here: :silly:

http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC+One+(M8)+Teardown/23615

Then try to find a larger battery that will fit into the existing space.

Good luck, you're going to need it! ;)

NOTE: All kidding aside, there's a reason it's called a non-removable battery!

If you need that big of a battery, do not get any phone with non - removable battery. Period.
but this phone is so effin good - s-off means cyanogenmod, which the darned s5 is not going to get.

looked at the ifixit... remove the motherboard to get to the battery that is glued to the lcd.. wtf.. just put the god damn batter at the end so i can replace it HTC wtf.....

Get u a external power bank battery.

Sent from my Insane powered M8 using Tapatalk
This is the solution. Anker makes a 3000 mAh option that is barely bigger than the 18650 battery inside it. If that's not enough power, they offer options all the way up to 12000 mAh.

Then build a better phone!
if the barrier to entry wasn't ridiculous i would.

really wish verizon would man up and unlock bootloaders. u don't see t mobiles network suddenly dying just because people used unlocked phones. actually now that i think about it, i wish t mobs coverage was the same as verizons.

It is a true unibody metal design. The answer from a cost and modding standpoint is "no way" and the only practical solution is a power pack.

BTW, it would seem HTC must be eating some healthy margin with this design strategy. The build seems too good and that usually comes at a cost. Wonder what their financial quarter results will be for the next two cycles. My education and work background is industrial technology and computer electronics. The M8 cost implications give my brain twitches. Not just the material cost, but the actual manufacturing process and design cost. Yikes.
