I just installed the newest firmware for my sm-p607t, which is android 5.1.1. i have tried all auto root methods like cf auto root, kingroot, etc etc. with no luck. I really need root for half my apps i use need it. Is there any way to get root on this newest firmware? It seems like this tablet has been forgotten about and no one seems interested in it anymore.

No clue, but for the life of me I can't get TWRP to stick. As soon as It boots up it reverts back to stock recovery

I didn't know there was another way to flash Twrp w/out Odin. , I tried flashing TWRP and it says it's flashes successful but Twrp doesn't stick. I suspect that Twrp does work it just gets over written. This also happens on Nexus with stock rom, although with bootloader you can boot directly into recovery, and flash zip and install rom or block stock recovery from sticking

DISCLAIMER: Try this on tour own risk, I am not responsible for fried tablets. Always backup.

At this time there is no root for the new t-mobile 5.11 firmware.
Also on Europe and Asia the P605 lte model of this tablet had the 5.1.1 update and have the same problem.
With this procedure you will have the updated 5.1.1 bootloader, baseband and the most important, root.
But with a 5.02 custom ROM.
The ROM is a port from the P905, galaxy Note Pro 12.2 lte, with added features and the magazine launcher.
This was my ROM before upgrading to 5.1.1.
After checking out the new stock t-mobile 5.1.1 firmware, honestly I was not impressed.
There are 3 small fixes on the ROM's thread, plus search on xda for the stagefright fix and you will have
a perfectly working full featured ROM.
Thanks to Alan-B, the developer.

Flashed the new P607T 5.1.1 firmware with Odin 3.09.
Boot OK and let it alone for 10 minutes. Reboot twice.
Back to download mode.
Flashed TWRP 2.8.6.0-lt03ltexx-4.4 with Odin.
This version of TWRP works OK, it is slow to
start up, but works.
Read that newer versions are having some issues.
Then flashed the Supersu 2.46 zip with TWRP.
Did 3 factory resets and wipe 3 times dalvik, data, system, and cache.
Then flash the zip of the P605 ver. 0.09 Pyrana ROM from the note 10.1 2014 ed. Development section.
Only Roms for the P605 lte tablet are compatible with the P607T.
For me the stock rom bootloops after flashing
Supersu 2.46 with Odin, so better have ready on
the sd card ver 0.09 of the 5.02 Pyrana custom rom.

Flashed it and my P607T boot up OK.
Ver. 0.11 of this ROM did not boot on my tablet,
even after flashing with Odin the boot.img, provided on the OP,
so stick with ver. 0.09 + the fixes.
So far, TWRP 2.8.6.0 recovery and my P607T working perfectly.

so you have Pyrana rom and root? or you have found this method to gain root to the official p607t firmware? (t-mobile android version 5.1.1) Because im seeking the official stock rom with touchwiz plus root. or if someone who can build a stocky rom + root.

The official P607T 5.1.1 firmware bootloops after
flashing supersu 2.46. Not sure if the reason is TWRP 2.8.6.0 or the supersu 2.46 zip not being
compatible with the 5.1.1 stock rom.
Will be good to try supersu 2.49 beta.

After bootlooping my last resource was going back to TWRP and flash the P605 Pyrana ROM.
Prefer to have updated 5.1.1 baseband and root with the 5.02 Pyrana rom than the full stock 5.1.1 rom without root.

13) Run system in Recovery and install zip from SDCard "BETA SuperSU v2.50"
14) Boot the system/tablet
End

For those with Wifi or Data issues just reflash your 5.1.1 rom manually until it gets fixed. (Which is basically what steps 1-9 are for)

In short, if you are already on version 5.1.1 do steps 10~14

Exact Step by step:
1. Get into Download Mode
2. Odin Flash the Kernel
3. Reboot and then turn off
4. Go back into Download Mode and flash TWRP Make sure Auto-Reboot is unchecked and after flashing power down manually.
5. Get into recovery using the Button combo. (Note this may take a minute or two for first install)
6. Either Sideload the Beta SuperSU v2.50 or have it on a mSD card or something and flash inside TWRP.
7. Reboot and Enjoy Root!

Lowell, Ma
I have been able to get the 5.1.1 installed, updated kernel, SuperSU Beta, and TWRP 2.8.7.0.
Now I keep getting a Security Notice that "unauthorized actions have been detected". I found a suggestion about opening SuperSU and it should fix it, but nothing has worked so far

problem with root

This root method worked, but did anyone else have an issue with the wifi not storing passwords after reboot?
Possible solutions: tried to find and clear duplicate entries in the wifi config file in the data folder.. but there was no wifi config file.
