I believe you can install TWRP in the eRecovery partition (which seems to be useless in the US) and keep the stock recovery partition. Is there anyway to root without losing the stock recovery?

Very good! At end someone arrived at it!I believe you can install TWRP in the eRecovery partition (which seems to be useless in the US) and keep the stock recovery partition.
If you haven't changed view mode (at least it was that way in Marshmallow on the M3) if you run "adb shell wm density 320 && adb reboot" the density change is persistent and will stick after reboot. I can confirm that my density change has stuck after rebooting multiple times. You can change the screen density under developer options on 7.0. It does not last last reboot, but is easy to do. Just set it to 650 or 700 to get tablet resolution

So it seems all I needed was a better file manager. I was using Total Commander, which it turns out is not as good as Root Explorer. The file to turn on 5Ghz wifi is called "cfg_btv_hisi.ini" and is in the "cust_spec\vendor\etc" directory, which didn't even look like a folder in Total Commander, and is the same, just change "band_5g_enable=0" to "band_5g_enable=1" save enabling the permission change to write and then reboot. All the settings I had for 5Ghz SSIDs in Marshmallow were still there, I didn't even have to type in passwords again.I was able to root the US version of the tablet with Nougat with Magisk, but how the 5G is enabled/disabled has changed and I cannot find the file or spot in the old file to update to allow 5G so I am stuck using 2.4ghz.
As near as I have been able to determine, buying 4 "credits" which cost 4 euros and using dc-unlocker is the easiest (and perhaps only) way.Hello everyone,
I'm a semi-noob hoping to find some clarification here. I just bought a US version BTV-W09 that has EMUI 5.0. I want to enable 5GHz WiFi but all the info I have been able to find is about rooting the old EMUI 4.x system. How can I root with the update and/or enable 5Ghz WiFi? Sorry if the answer is out there somewhere, I searched and was not able to find anything. Thanks in advance!
Magisk work for me getting root....I was able to install the US Nougat Beta and can confirm that the Full OTA version can be installed on a rooted and unlocked US -Version through the Firmware Finder DNS method. I was able to change the tablet from using the phone app versions of apps like chrome and YouTube by running the adb density command and setting it to 320 as anything higher and the settings app doesn't work. After that, I was able to install TWRP into the recovery2 partition (eRecovery partition) which left the standard recovery partition untouched. I like installing to this partition because TWRP can be launched by holding volume up in the "Device Can't Be Trusted" screen. What I haven't been able to find, is a version of Supersu that works with this version of Nougat. Every version of Supersu I have tried fails at patching the boot image. So without that I cannot get the 5Ghz wireless radio or Xposed framework working.
Yep, 5.0 and Marshmallow 6.0.I also have the U S version of the M3. I am getting full max speeds on my 75/5 connection. I let it update to emui 5 and nougat 7.0 right out of the box. Is yours still running 6.0?
Yep, 5.0 and Marshmallow 6.0.
Where'd you get yours? Amazon here... BTV-W09, build # BTV-W09C128B005.
Talked to Huawei today and they said it's not a matter of if, but when the 5.0/7.0 release will be available to me. It just comes out at different times for different build #s. They said it'll fill my D/L slowness, too... Fingers crossed that it does, and soon!
Ah, so mine's the XXX-XXXXXXXB005 and yours is the XXX-XXXXXB351. 'Preciate it.I purchased mine from Newegg in July. Mine is the BTV-W09C128B351. As soon as I went online it offered the update to nougat.
Hi, can you enlighten me how to get the unlock password from EMUI website? Thanks for the tip, I just rooted my M3 and did that suggestion, and also ro.config.hw_is_hide_wifi_5g=false nothing else. After reboot it worked.
So, that was it--just the OTA update to get those speeds, or did you have to root/enable 5Ghz?I purchased mine from Newegg in July. Mine is the BTV-W09C128B351. As soon as I went online it offered the update to nougat.

If not, does the 5.0/7.0 version have 5Ghz enabled? Or do you only get 2.4Ghz but still get your full service speed of 75/5? Thanks!
