NILLKIN LG G Pad 8.3 (V500) case pictures and smart case video

Great, looking forward to it! Mine was ordered at the same time, will likely take another two weeks to get where I am...

I have a GPE edition (v510) and bought the case from dx-box: http://dx-box.com/nillkin-new-sparkle-leather-case-for-lg-g-pad-8-3.html

Costed me $16.89 for the case and an additional $2towards shipping.

The case fits perfectly fine on the V510 edition.

Here are some pics of the case:

You could check out the video showing the smart case functionality here:

I had asked for a black case, and received a white case. It looks fine, and I hope it doesnt attract too much dust. Other than this, I am totally happy with the case.

Thanks! This looks even slimmer than the IVSO and the smart on/off feature is good. I'm a little worried as to how much scratching the back will take, but I'm hoping the black version (for my own black tablet) will help cover such things up.

Mine was from eBay and shipped on the 10th, but I live in Canada; with any luck though I may get it within a week if your yardstick is any indication. :)

Dark green? You mean the rear shell is tinged greenish? I'd be interested in seeing what you mean.. I was hoping for an opaque black, but I know it's transleucent...

I bought the VSTN in red for the white G Pad and it looks exceptionally good. Slim, on/off works well, does the job.

Have used the case extensively over the long weekend, throwing around in backpack, between books, along with keys, coins, etc. There was no scratches at all. And case looks solid.

Hi,

How much does the Nillkin case weigh please? Is there a latch/magnet/some other method to keep the lid shut?

I've got the ISVO case but at 160 grams it makes the G Pad 8.3 really heavy, although it is well built. I'm considering getting the VOAI case but it's twice the price (and crucially over the UK customs threshold) as the Nillkin case.

I think the VOAI case is 110 grams.

Thanks

Which eBay seller? Thanks

There are a few in China and Hong Kong. I find you have to be so careful buying from China not to get ripped off etc...

Fintie Folio/Smartshell Cases

Just ordered Fintie case from Amazon. I can't post links yet; you can find it by searching for Fintie LG G PAD 8.3 Folio Case.

$9 with Prime shipping seemed like a safe bet until I find something better. Looks exactly like the other leather cases posted earlier in the thread. Will post a review here once I get it.

That looks like the ISVO (aka ELTD) case. It's a solidly made case.
I've got the same case, also direct from China. Took about a week. I went this route because I was scraping for pennies that week and couldn't afford the IVSO from Amazon with shipping (nor could afford to spend more on something else to get the Super Saver free shipping).

I find the case works well enough. Getting it to stand properly might take a few tries before it "sets" and stays. The wake/sleep works perfectly, and all the buttons/ports/slots/etc are open. You don't even have to unplug it to remove it from the case.

It doesn't seem like any of the big names in rugged case design have anything for this device. We're going to be letting our toddler use this tablet (under supervision) but toddlers are toddlers so I'm looking for the best case to protect from bumps and falling. Is that going to be just a simple TPU case? I saw that thing by Ballz, but that looks a little too unwieldy. Looking for suggestions. Thanks.

Here's the generic one that I use:

No complaints, I've dropped it a couple times and it's just fine. I still generally don't let my toddler near it (she gets my old Galaxy Player), but when she does touch it, I'm fairly confident that it won't break. :p

I've now tried out three different cases for my G Pad GPA, the MoKo slim folding cover case, the IVSO ultra-lightweight slim smart cover, and the Nillkin ultra-thin smart cover. While they all have their pros and cons, the MoKo is my least favorite because it's the most bulky. The IVSO has the best quality, but it's a little thicker and heavier than I'd prefer, especially given how thin and light the G Pad is without a cover. The Nillkin is a little thinner and feels quite a bit lighter, but it lacks a magnetic clasp to hold the cover shut, and it feels less stable when used as a stand (which I do all the time). I also think the IVSO's black looks significantly better than Nillkin's "sparkly" gray. The IVSO also does a better job of giving the speakers (a little!) breathing room when set up as a stand, though the G Pad's speaker placement makes that a difficult proposition with any case/cover!

I guess my perfect cover would be the IVSO with the Nillkin's size and heft. Given that that's not happening, I'm probably going to try the Nillkin for a few days and then decide whether I want to keep the IVSO or the Nillkin, then I might throw the MoKo and whichever of the smart covers I decide not to keep up for sale.

Hope this helps!

Is the lack of a magnetic cover on the Nillkin a big deal? I have yet to receive mine, but I'm only slightly worried that the cover will flop open all the time..

Probably not. I've had smart covers for other devices that didn't have magnetic clasps and they stay seated pretty well. Having said that, after getting accustomed to a magnetically-clasped cover in the form of the IVSO, it does seem a little strange to see the cover sitting up a little bit or even flapping around more than I'd expect. Also, in case it wasn't clear, the Nillkin does act as a smart cover and the sensor seems to be near the "spine" of the cover, so it would have to come almost completely open for the screen to turn on.

Verizon Folio case?

Has anyone bought the Verizon Folio case, or seen it in person? I can't post links yet, so just add www[dot]
verizonwireless.com/accessories/verizon-folio-for-lg-g-pad-8-3-lte-black

It looks really similar to the Devicewear Ridge case (google it, or search on Amazon).

I had a Nexus 7 for a while (screen was too small) and this case was just perfect, but they don't make one for the LG G Pad. I Like that the part of the case that closes over the screen never touches the surface you're placing it on.

I'll probably see if they have this case in the store and I'll report back once I've tried it. I have an IVSO case already, so I'll be able to compare the two. Just waiting for my LG G Pad GPE to arrive!

I have the Verizon case. It is made by Incipio. Works pretty well, but I haven't figured out all of it's "four angles for viewing and one for typing" configurations.
