SOLUTION
Unless your local is associated with HTC (i.e. authorised repair) you can assume the same thing will happen. Unfortunately.
here is the deal, i had the same problem.
i had a broken htc sensation 4g t-mobile broken digi, and as you might assume, i did cut my finger on it before deciding i wanted it fixed.
well, 3 digitizers later (that i changed myself) that i bought in several places online, none worked. ALL of them had the same issue as described. NO response!
it felt very much as if the electromagnetic field created by the net of invisible wires inside the digitizers was broken. i could not get it to unlock.
i thought i broke the phone, since i did not have the original digi in one piece to try it out.
Then i found this thread. i got sad from all the grim news.
then the good news.
there is a company that has the original second edition digitizers available, but they do not sell them, since there is 3 model numbers that are not interchangeable.
go to
www.rossmanngroup.com, call the number, as for the sensation repair service.
i am located in new york city, so i walked there, but they are mail in service based.
well, now i have a brand new looking phone and works like new too.
if any of you try this route, please post your results. i am happy, and i can post pictures if i knew how.
if you live in new york city, or close, just call and go to 30th st and 8th ave. they are nice down there (its a bassement location)
well, they claim they have all the versions available, so try them out. their ratings are good, and i cant complain either. they saved me from buying another 500$ phone.
ps: if you DO walk down there, its a very very shady looking place, but they have a proper setup and all that. even a clean room. but the walk down to the place is very very shady.
also, one of the guys would not stop talking, but nothing bad, just small talk.
anyway, i am happy my phone is working like new finally.
