I'm having an serious issue as my op5 got completely drained and no longer taking charge. It's stuck at 50% and wouldn't charge more or drain less. I have to use it plugging through the charger. If i unplug the charger phone gets turned off.

And its showing "Battery temperature is too low" while off. Though i tried to warm it up even though it isn't taking charge.

I think the problem is with the battery. So anyone replaced their battery yet? Where did you buy them? If you are using third party batteries how are they holding up?

Thank you.

my battery hold the power very well, but I did not use the dashcharge, nor charge it when not needed.

Time, number of charge, heat will decrease lithium based battery life very fast. Its chemical.
Also keeping it at 100% all the time (overnight charge) will accelerate oxidation (voltage proportional).
The best way to get good battery life over time, is to understand how it works. https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries

When mine will get around 4h sot, I'll consider PolarCell, from my researches, it seems the only company who do legit OnePLus battery.

I replaced mine with an OEM one from eBay about 6 months ago. Old one was working okay but was down to 83% health according to accubattery. I replaced it at the same time as my charging port which would no longer fast charge or file transfer.

The replacement went well other than one antenna cable I couldn't get snapped on, turns out to be for the second sim card slot so now I'm back to carrying a work phone through the day plus my phone until I can take it apart again and make another attempt.

The new battery was actually a month older than my original battery according to the date code. It only had 93% battery health when I first installed it. Down to 92% now.

I'm questioning how this % 's working...

My phone did a 8 sot, and is said 85% battery health.

Wife's OP3 (same kernel, Franco), got a cheap ebay battery, she got 2-3h SOT, phone shutdown @20% battery, and the app said 1700 mhA , and 81% health...

Both SOT were made by watching youtube video at home, vanced youtube apk.

I can't really say whether it was accurate or not. My battery life seemed like it stayed consistently good over the year and a half, I assumed maybe the updates actually helped battery life offsetting the degradation of the battery. I wouldn't have changed it yet if I didn't have to take it apart and do the charging port anyway.

I've never had a battery life problem with the phone with the original or replacement battery. My routine varies by way too much to be able to compare screen on time from one charge to the next. If I read a lot on Google Play books with black mode I could probably get over 12 hour screen on time. YouTube videos likely 8 hours. Normal mixed use anywhere between 4 hours to 7 hours screen on time. I never have to worry about it lasting a day. I'm at lunch break and I'm at 92%. The first 10% usually seems to go fastest too. I get 93% with the OnePlus app, 92 last time I checked with accubattery (91 the previous time). I have since uninstalled accubattery as I only use it occasionally to check battery health.

Update: My mechanic tried various methods like changing the IC and tried various batterys but none of them worked. Now looking for original oneplus battery but theres no OP service center in our country. :(

Quick Update: My first mechanic was unable to fix the phone. Then I took the phone to another mechanic. As I didn't get to manage oneplus battery I was quite hopeless about the phone would fix at all. But the second mechanic fixed my phone within a day!

He said the problem was in the charging port not in the battery. And he changed the port. Thus my phone came to life again. Will test the dash charging once I get to home. Though it doesn't matter to me anymore as long as it takes charge from any source.

Hope it helps :)

Battery Bug

Once my battery hits 55% and lower it starts to freeze up and reboot. It is less frequent if I turn the timeout to 10 or more minutes but that just drains it faster. Do you guys think my OP5 battery is faulty? It is only a month old and has had the problem of random freezes and reboots since I first did the initial setup buying it from Amazon.

Yes. From initial set up before official OP5 system OTA, with crDroid after updating to 9.0.4, then AICP, and LineageOS 16. After I flashed stock 9.0.4 and ran a battery drainer it froze and rebooted less. It could be coincidence but it may be my battery and that my phone wasn't new from Amazon but a refurbished unit haha. I'm almost thinking of downgrading to OTA 5.1.7 to see if it is a Pie issue bug.

installed new battery

My battery was fine around 86% but i did ordered one a few months ago.
It was a LOSONCOER which claimed to be around 3800mah.I thought it was a scam but it was cheap and it should be at least 3300 if not 3800mah.
I installed it 4 days ago and the results amazed me.IT is 3800mah and more. Accubattery says 4000mah but i also see it in the SOT.
Its much better. No temperature sensor though. It keeps saying 25.1 Celsius.
Some early screenshots below.
