So I bought two 6As and sent in two pixel 3As in working order.
One is still being assessed, but they told me I send in the wrong device on one of them,
This is most certainly wrong.
Got through on a chat and they claim they will investigate, but who knows when this will get straightened out.

But they asked me for my IMEI number of the phone in dispute and I didn't keep a record of it .
So I would advise anybody who has not yet done sent it in to make a record of it and take a photo of the phone you are returning.

Google, I expected better of you!

On the return label they sent you there should be the IMEI if they are still sending it via email. If not then you might want to check with your provider which should have a record of it.

Full $300 credit on Pixel 4a. Took about 10 days after mailing from Northeast US, most of that in transit. Initial credit was for device less full price of free earbuds but that was corrected within 12 hours. Painless process and 100% credit on a 2-year old device. No complaints here!

Thanks, Tmobile got it for me right away. I got credit for one of the phones, hopefully not long before they get it right for the other.
(I think i screwed up and switched the two phones in the return boxes.)

Sent in my pristine 4a on 8/11 finally arrived today...smh
Paid $350 two years ago, so yeah...helluva deal. I look forward to doing this EVERY 2-3 years...fingers crossed. Almost like folks that lease a new car and trade-in every 2 years for another new car. I hope the P8s is a solid offering and packing a Tensor 3 under the hood...one could hope. 😁

Edit: It's the next day and I got an email saying $300 is on its way thru my bank card! Awesome sauce! I soo hope they repeat this at least every year or two.

I mailed mine Pixel 3a back and the USPS says it was delivered to Google's vendor:

Delivered, Left with Individual

August 4, 2022 at 1:11 pm
LA VERGNE, TN 37086

But on Google's order history page:
Trade In initiated
Trade In kit shipped
Waiting to receive old phone

So they're certainly taking their time on this... .

[Update] I did use the "Contact Us" link on the Google site to ask for a call-back. The woman was very professional and promised to escalate the issue, keep in contact with me via email, and not close the issue until I got my refund. So all that sounds positive!

[Update] I got notified that they found my trade in. They're still "inspecting" the phone... . The case remains open, which is as it should be.

Took a couple days after "delivered" to get confirmation from Google, then another day or two to get notification of payment.

So i finally got my issue resolved. I bought two 6As but google claimed one of the trade ins was bad. But they never told me why. Finally after a bit of belly aching, and filing a dispute with paypal, i got the full credit.

I just ordered my 6a via trade in for an extra 4a5g I now have. It bootloops (the 4a5g) and doesnt boot into the OS, but the screen turns on, there are no scratches, just the back housing is peeling. And I factory reset it. Hopefully I'll get the full or close to $300 value. I'll get their trade in mailer in a few days. I'll probally get the new phone sooner. I'll prob keep the 6a unopened BNIB and continue to use my main 4a5g. We'll see.

I finally was credited my refunds today, exactly 4 weeks after receiving my new pixels. Google has had them in their possession since last Friday.

Received my return kit beginning of last week. Sent the phone out last Weds. Once it was in the USPS system it had an estimated date of delivery of Saturday 8/6. What I have showing currently is "
August 8, 2022, 5:53 am
Departed USPS Regional Facility
NASHVILLE TN DISTRIBUTION CENTER ANNEX
Your item departed our USPS facility in NASHVILLE TN DISTRIBUTION CENTER ANNEX on August 8, 2022 at 5:53 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination."
From reading the other posts I'm getting concerned that this is not going to end well. Looks like Google's subcontractor is not prepared to receive and process the number of tradeins they are receiving and that many will just disappear into the system or be mis-handled.
What recourse does one have if either the USPS loses the return or Google claims they never received it?
I've had a similar experience, except I shipped my trade-in on August 1st. It's still marked as "in transit" (on the USPS site), an implicit suggestion that the item may have been lost, stolen, or damaged. I chatted with Google personnel several times in the interim. They were polite, but I was told to wait 14 days from shipping date. I waited, and there was NO update on the USPS page.

While the USPS tracking update has NOT updated, I did receive a notice, on the 23rd of August (nearly three weeks after shipment) that my device had been inspected and approved for the full trade-in amount. (In the meantime, I had sent Google representatives the IMEI1 and IMEI2 numerical IDs for the 3a).

The promised amount was posted as a pending credit to my card, and then disappeared from pending. But it reappeared as posted, a couple of days, later.

Through all of it, the Google personnel were thorough and polite. But the system seems excessively layered and bureaucratic, and certainly, in the last analysis, the failure of USPS tracking system is on Google. To the extent that any initial cost savings were achieved, by using USPS, it's also clear to me that all the extra inquiries and employee time ate up any initial operational savings. To my mind, whatever subcontractor is responsible for tracking these items (17 miles, from Nashville to destination) isn't up to the task. I believe that the customer service folks knew that to be true, as well.

Just got my trade in quote. Has been almost a month since sending it in. USPS still shows not delivered, lol. I got a quote for $260 instead of $300 due to "Major LCD Damage". I took a video of the phone powering on and sent google a screenshot of the white google screen. LCD is fine. Yea when mailing in your phones MAKE SURE to take pics/video of the phone because it seems there is an endemic of value scamming it seems.Hopfully I'll get my extra $40. Heres a pic of my phone with "Major LCD Damage".

Edit: total scam. They still upheld $260. I complained. Showed video that pic was based And they offered $40 appeasment store credit. WTF. No..put it on my CARD. 260+40. Requested supervisor. I mean come on, really? What a scam.

Well, my package hasn't moved from nashville since august 30th and my picture of the imei seems to have vanished. Looks like I'm completely boned unless i can dig up a record of the imei. The phone was never tied to my google account so no dice that way either. Chat support basically said find your imei and come back then closed my chat, very helpful.

I sent mine back on the 12th, and the last update was from the 16th that it is "Moving Through Network, In Transit, Arriving Late".
It's amazing that a small box can take 10+ days to get to Tennessee from Michigan.

Actually from the USPS info, it's impossible to know if it even left my post office.

At least I'm not alone. I also mailed mine on the 12th from Rochester, MI (Detroit area) and the USPS tracking shows that it went from here to Pittsburgh, then Memphis, then Nashville, and now shows as "In Transit, Arriving Late". At least they're right about the "late" part. I could have driven it down myself and got it there on the 14th! I wonder if it has anything to do with that warning on the label about "Ground transit only", presumably because of the battery. Maybe it's in a special container or something; otherwise why the out-of-the-way routing?

Can someone post a picture or two what the kit and return form looks like? Since mine says delivered and I never got it, I'm about ready to just pay to mail it back myself. Just want to be sure I get the paperwork/return address right.

    Mail to: RECEIVING MANAGER-DOCK 25
601 MASON RD STE 180; LA VERNE TN 37086-9917. There is more data re trade-in (invoice & item numbers plus Trade Date) on the return label.

Not yet, though they said mine shipped and said 7 business days after receiving the device. I would expect them soon.

Ahh, sorry....I have 2 as both my wife and I are trading our phones in.
Ahh sorry back. It was @adrman I meant to quote. He reordered the kits and will have 2 coming for one device. I had that problem before and It took many calls for them to find the return.

If I'd have known it'd take an extra week, I'd have used their labels over the old ones of the box it came in...ofc not everyone's budget gets stretched too far cuz of a $450+ hold tying up their cash flow or 'cash dribble' at times...
I know what you mean. I had to delay payments on my 2nd Tesla because of this...
