Anyone successfully whine their way to a replacement?

Has anyone had any success in whining their way to a free upgrade? I'm not suggesting it or really considering it I'm just curious. I've personally done it in the past when I've had issues with a phone but that was from a completely different issue than the extreme lack of updates. I'm personally not really considering it and the only thing that would possibly change my mind is if the devs on here completely ditch the phone. Which would be understandable considering the lack of releases of fascinate source code or updates from Samsung. PS thank you devs, you make this phone great.

Its possible if you can work your way up the ladder to someone in vzw that has the authority to do so. Im on a business contract with about 20 lines though, I imagine we get treated better than individual contracts.

It's quite easy.. File an FCC complaint. I've done it twice with two carriers. If your complaint is valid, they WILL fix it, seeing as the FCC ups the fees they pay if they have high unresolved complaint rates. Last time I did it was because of my Incredible-ey (pun) bad phone reception.

Just try not to abuse the power, as it is one of the last remaining ways we have to flex our consumer muscle.

Thats how I got my fascinate. I went to T Mobile, got the new windows phone 7. After a week I realized I didnt get service so I went into verizon with the windows phone and said I would end my contract with verizon if they didnt let me upgrade. They grabbed the manager and I got an upgrade a year early.

I sent an email out and got them to allow me to upgrade to a thunderbolt for 125 bucks. They were trying to send me a refurb for free and not extend my contract, but I pushed back a few times and finally got them to send me a TB for that price. I did have to do 2 year contract, but at least I'm getting a new phone, that I don't have to wait on Samsung to update, or verizon for that matter. I was polite and made my case about how every time I go to the verizon store, that I was told someone had gotten froyo, and it would be right around the corner. I do believe if you present your case without being disrespectful, you can get an upgrade.

Ok got a response and doesnt look like ill be as lucky.

Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website. I apologize for the delay in responding to your inquiry. My name is A'Darryl, and I am happy to assist you in regards to getting an upgrade to a device that has the Froyo 2.2 software upgrade.

I can certainly understand your concern with getting an upgrade to a device that has the Froyo 2.2 software upgrade; I know the importance of customizing your device to your preferences. I am happy to provide you some information in regards to your inquiry.

Verizon Wireless is committed to providing quality customer service. As a reflection of my commitment to you, I attempted to call you on the contact number ending in X6839 at approximately 2:45pm to provide you with some additional information needed to complete your request.

I have reviewed your account and I see your update date is not until June 1, 2012. At this time, we are unable to move your equipment upgrade date to allow an upgrade. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you. I do not have a definitive date as to when the Froyo 2.2 software update will be available for the Samsung Fascinate.

Should i continue to ***** or just call it quits?

I wouldn't give up that easily. Just ask to speak to someone higher up again and again.

I just sent my email and included the fact that I filed a FCC Complaint.

I got to someone fairly high up and it was actually easy. Of course he blamed Samsung for our delayed Froyo and had no information, but told me that when I've been with them 6 months they'll give me an early upgrade.

Epic getting 2.3. So can't really blame Samsung eh? But I don't know much I check this section for my wifes fascinate. Sucks everybody else has their upgrade. Yet Verizon blames Samsung but look at all samsungs devices all up to date but the one on Verizon.

I fully believe that it is Verizon being stubborn and somehow whether it's directly or indirectly, delaying the updates for this phone.

Thought about that to considering all the new toys coming out :) But I really enjoy my Fascinate and even more so now that I have learned how to flash/hack/adb control my device. Custom roms are fun!
I completely love this phone. The only way I would consider an upgrade is if the devs on here continued to slow down at the rate they have. I don't blame them for anything it's more frustrating for them when they have to either port code from another phone or wait the ridiculous amount of time for an actual update.

what email did you contact? I figure i might as well give it a shot using the "i need froyo thing."

also, when I get the standard reply back saying we can't do anything, how do I ask to speak to someone higher up? should I just say can you tell your supervisor to email me?
