Anyone using this on Verizon yet?

Used XperiFirm to download the firmware. Few questions though as I'm not able to follow exactly what you did:
1. I didn't see an OEM and OEM_Extra .sin files in the download. There is an oem_X-FLASH-CUST-B6B5 and oem_other_X-FLASH-CUST-B6B5.
2. What are you using to flash the device?

My device is the H8314 model (Best Buy pre-order). Running build 51.1.A.3.159.

I also re-flashed it using Xperia Companion, and that didn't fix it either. That flashed it back to the same thing, 51.1.A.3.159.
That's the model and build I have working on Verizon. You don't need to flash the US model.

Can you provide some details on your phone? What the exact model is, what version do you have, some details. What version of the firmware are you using then, assuming you are using the stock image?
Are you in the USA?

Yeah I've posted all that information throughout this thread but I'll consolidate here.

I have the best-buy preorder, US single sim model. It's the Verizon approved H8314 model running the stock image. Currently on the April 1st security update, build 51.1.A.3.159, living in the US. My experience on getting the phone to work on Verizon is as follows:
- Initially just moved my sim from a Google model Pixel 2 into the XZ2c. Calls and data worked after a reboot, I could send text messages but could not receive them. This sim card is one I've been using for about 5 years and is apparently not compatible with the XZ2c despite being a nano sim.
- I switched to a new sim card, and working with phone support, got this sim card activated using the pixel 2. It worked fine in the pixel and we verified that HD calling (voLTE) was active on the phone AND on my line according to their systems.
- I swapped the sim into the XZ2c. Data, sending, and receiving text messages worked immediately. I could not make or receive phone calls, trying to call resulted in a message about a server error and trying again later. Phone support (same guy, took about 30 minutes) said voLTE was still active on my line (there's no apparent toggle in the settings on the XZ2c). I asked him to disable and then reenable voLTE, then he had me reboot the phone. After the reboot all calling worked (making and receiving) and texting and data still worked.

The phone has now been working for me since Friday afternoon, so 72 hours. In that time I've pulled the sim twice to swap SD cards, and took the april security update and have not lost any functionality. I spent the weekend traveling through a few different states and a ton of different cell towers and never had any noticeable issues. It's definitely possible to get this phone working on Verizon, you just need to find a tech who's willing to do as you ask instead of jumping right to "we don't sell it, go away."

I flashed the US firmware from XperiFirm onto my UK single sim model, and while it did connect with Verizon immediately, I can't receive text messages. Everything else seems to work okay. From reading other comments here, it seems a little hit or miss.
How did you flash the US firmware? Is there a way to do that without losing any DRM keys?

I have downloaded the firmware using XperiFirm, but I don't know how to flash these files, I've never had a sony phone before.

Disregard. Having the text message issue... Sounds like it could be my Sim.

Those are both the correct files. I thought it was oem_extra instead of oem_other. But your device should natively run Verizon without having to make any modifications.

I've been using NewFlasher to flash my devices.

Don't worry only unlocking the bootloader wipesDRM keys. Flashing is fine. You can easily revert back. Wait a bit for flashtool to add XZ2 support.

Working on Verizon

Found a great tech at Verizon yesterday. US model moving from Samsung S4 mini to Xperia xZ2 compact. The VoLTE was shut off on my account and tier1 had no clue how to fix it. Tier2 techs can force HD audio. I suspect the config going from a Samsung s4 mini to a VoLTE phone requires adjustment on the Verizon side. My phone is now working perfectly.

Awesome, hope you like the phone, it's a perfect size for me. If the camera button was re-mappable I think it would be perfect, I don't know why they have a dedicated camera button as well as double tap power button for camera. Seems kind of pointless.

Thank you for this. I have the H3814 as well and have the same issue, I can't receive texts. Got a new Sim today but still having the same problem. Everything works fine except receiving texts. May need to go back to my Pixel 2 with broken USB port :(.

Hello,

My XZ2 Compact is due from Best Buy this week. I'm nervous that I'll have a difficult time getting this setup to completely work on Verizon after reading some of the comments. Would it make a difference if I went into a Verizon store and showed them this thread? I really don't want to miss out on calls or texts

Registered to this forum just to post how I got my phone working.

Got my xz2c working on Verizon today. And maybe this might help some people who are having the issue where you can't receive text messages.

I got the xz2c (H8314) from the best buy pre-order. Decided to upgrade from my Z3v to a smaller phone. Moved my sim card from my Z3V to the XZ2c and internet was working, but no phone calls or text messages. After reading this forum, I decided to try a different sim. Went to a Verizon store who gave me a new sim, but did not help. I called the Verizon Customer Service line and after 25 minutes with tier 1, they finally sent me to the Network Team. Spoke to a Rep named Jeff. I mentioned that I needed HD Calling, thanks to everyone in the thread. He looked at my phone and stated I did not have it on my phone. He had trouble getting it enabled, so he switched my phone to a basic phone, then re-enabled it with HD Calling. I rebooted my phone, and at this point, phone calls are now working. I could also send text messages but not receive them. He then reprovisioned (his words) texting on my line. Rebooted, no luck. I downloaded the VZ Messages+ app as I was using that on my old phone. Could still send, but not receive. He reprovisioned texting one more time, and I rebooted, and was still sending and not receiving. I then connected to Wireless in my house, and text messages started coming through (due to being on the Wireless). Turned off messages as I had like 30 test text messages coming through and the last couple came through without wireless. I am now able to send AND receive text messages without being on wireless.

I know this was a long post (1h 55m on the phone with Verizon) but finally got it working for me. Hopefully this will help people who were having the same issues as me.

So I went ahead and gave it a shot and picked this phone up at Best Buy. I was previously using an Essential Phone so I had hdvoice already enabled. Right off the bat everything working except for receiving texts... Called up Verizon and got to tier 2 support. He tried reprovisioning and a couple of other things and no dice he ended up putting in a ticket. I don't know what I'm doing wrong I've told him everything that you guys found working with Verizon. My sim isn't even a month old and it was activated on a Pixel 2. Let's see what they come up with through the ticket I guess.

Also, since no one responded to my last question about Visual Voicemail, it doesn't work. I also noticed while testing it out that whether or not I turn visual voicemail on or off, when I call the phone, if I don't decline the call, the call never even gets to voicemail. The call just ends and I get a dial tone. If I do decline the call, it goes to voicemail, I can leave a message, but I never get a notification on the xz2. Can anyone confirm this is what they're getting on their XZ2? I hold 1 to call my voicemail and it's there, but the phone never notifies me.

I'm really hoping this gets figured out man... I'm bumming. I've been obsessing over this phone since the rumors started flying that it was going to be certified on Verizon. I don't really have any other options where I live other than Verizon. It kind of pisses me off that it's "certified"... But did anyone actually throw a sim card into this thing before putting it up for sale and see if it all works before Verizon, Sony, and Best Buy started shooting off saying it's good to go?

Here is my experience with xz2c (H8314) so far. It was a bestbuy preorder. After receiveing I started reading this forum to fix things that were not working.
1. Calling and SMS: The calling in/out and did not work, same issue with sms. A few posts back a wise user suggested to deactivate the hd-voice and re-enable. I did it online: removed the hd-voice feature and added back again. After the reboot, calls started working. And so did Verizon messages . Looks like HD calling is automatically enabled; no need to tinker (checked using hidden settings app).
2. Hotspot with verizon grandfather unlimited works OOTB, using the quick settings option.
3. VVM is greyed-out with a message: "VVM is not activated yet, please try again later". No idea what that means.
4. Sometimes, the native e-mail app has trouble showing the message contents, especially html content. Just displays sender and subject.
5. Downloaded the xperia keyboard from apkmirror (again based on of the posts here) and using it instead of swiftkey.

...Dude... It worked. I couldn't find it going to myVerizon on my phone so I called support. I told the tech guy everything that was in this thread and it seemed to go in one ear and out the other. I read your comment and went to the myVerizon website on my laptop, found hd voice, turned it off, and 5 minutes later got a face full of all the test messages I've been sending for the last 7 hours. Turned it back on and rebooted, and calls and texts work. You rule!

Guys, I'm glad a lot of you are having success and we keep getting more information here to help out other users. Great find on toggling HD voice through the web interface. I hope others have the same success, it's a great little phone.

So the texts came in while HD Voice was off? Then after successfully receiving texts it can be turned back on?

I just had HD voice toggled on my account but it was while the phone was off. I think I missed that detail that the texts need to come in while HD voice is currently off

No I don't think you would NEED to receive a text before it works, I just noticed that as soon as I turned off HD Voice on the website my texts started coming in. I shut my phone off after I turned HD Voice off and turned it back on after I reenabled it.

Gotcha. I just tried both ways and neither worked for me :(

Run down of my experience so far:
1. Flash the US firmware 51.1.A.3.159 to my H8314 using newflasher. Goes fine.
2. Start up phone with my sim that was previously active on my Nexus 5x. Almost everything works (Data, VoLTE, sending texts), except receiving text messages does not.
3. Call Verizon, have them re-provision texting and reboot, no dice. Open level 2 support ticket.
4. Go to Verizon store and get a new sim. No dice. Also try re-provisioning texting in the store again, no dice.
4. Hours later get a call from someone at verizon that they've fixed it, just need to reboot my phone again, so I do, but no dice.
5. Call Verizon again the next day, have them do the VoLTE disable/re-enable, no dice. Apparently my support ticket is now closed.
6. Also try resetting the phone, even though it was already brand new, no dice.

Going back to my Nexus 5x for now, I need texting to work. I'll keep an eye on this thread, hopefully some new developments happen soon.
