Anyway to put home/back/recent app buttons on the sides while in horizontal mode?

I just find it a little bit of a stretch while holding it horizontally to always reach to the middle of I am always holding it with my hand on the sides. Using Nova, but don't think that there is an option in there to change it. Any ideas?

Using the app All in one Gestures you can define edge swiping gestures for Back and Home. Works great for me.

Thanks...giving it a try. Also found [ home anywhere] under small apps that you can open with your recent tabs. Can make a floating home buttons where you want

I might have something. The app GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys has this option:

Haven't tried that because I got rid of my softkeys altogether by editing my build.prop (root needed); change

qemu.hw.mainkeys=0

to

qemu.hw.mainkeys=1

You can use Build Prop Editor.

I then use GMD GestureControl to use some side swiping gestures for Back and Home. You can also use the non-root All in one Gestures for that.
