Just reporting with the latest update the app crashes and it doesn't work anymore. The app eventually opens but AOD doesn't trigger upon receiving notifications.

Consolation is the screen off button that came with the app still works so I'll be waiting for the next fix

The latest beta version I see is v1.10 from November 13th, which is is what version I'm on and it works perfectly for me. It definitely hasn't crashed and shows me my notifications reliably.

Unless there's a newer version not in the Play Store yet that you're talking about.

Are you using a custom kernel? (I am, but maybe certain kernel settings interfere)

Update; And now v1.13 came out, but the app's not crashing on me. We'll see if notifications work fine once I get one.

Update 2: I haven't had any real notifications but the app's built in test notification worked as expected.

This was 1.12, probably should have mentioned that. I'll check now if it's on play store. I check for app updates everyday, maybe I should stop that lol

Edit: updated to 1.13 and it's fine now, thanks for the quick update

@Jawomo, actually, now on 1.13 I notice that my regular AOD stays on quite a lot, although not all the time. It was fine on 1.10.

I can confirm the same. I have it set to NOT show aod at all, but after a message factory aod comes on and stays on until I go into aodnotify settings

it never rains here
I went to my second emailing service and sent a 'test' email to my gmail running on my p6p . . . and AOD woke the phone and showed I had a gmail to look at. I swiped down and cleared notifications and the blinky AOD circle around my front facing camera went away. Long story short, ( for me and version 1.3 ) the AOD is doing it's normal thing.

Pretty the same as on main post. Adjusted a little

Its a different app, optimized especially for Pixel phones.

Yes, fingerprint setup is not optimal, because you have to switch back and forth. Luckily its a one time setup
How did you get the fingerprint image to show up? When I use addNotify it disappears for me and its sometimes hard to hit the right spot when you dont see it.

I just had the problem with v1.13 where regular AOD stayed on - it was after I used the assistant starting from the lockscreen to turn one of my lights on, after which I had to unlock for it to actually perform the function.

Even now when I manually lock, regular AOD is coming back on. Settings in my post above.

I was able to get regular AOD to go away by going into aodNotify, setting AOD to always, and going back and setting it to the no/minimal AOD setting.

Does this app have edge screen illumination? If so how to turn on?

My turn to triple-post. Good news. Since the 1.13 update and the problem where regular AOD shows up for awhile, I re-enabled aodNotify's experimental Power Saving Mode (which I had previously disabled on v1.10 because of problems and a conflict when using the CleanSlate kernel), and I no longer have been able to reproduce the issue of the regular AOD showing up, and CleanSlate's swipe to sleep option is working 100% as well, so no conflict anymore, it seems.

Hello everyone, I have a question.
When the environment is bright, the notification flashes brightly. When it gets dark, the notification also gets darker. But the other way around it does not work? If the phone was in the dark and the environment becomes brighter the notification remains dark that it is not to be recognized. I have also tried the ADB mods for brightness. But that does not work reliably either. Is there a setting that I have overlooked? I have a PIxel 4a.

Unfortunately, I can't think of any other option to try unless the developer chimes in with some ideas.

Sadly mine keeps crashing and turning off and get the service malfunction message. I've tried clearing storage and cache and setting back up just in case I goofed something in the settings. On the latest version, says beta in play store but i think it's the same 1.13.

In the Play Store, it again says v1.10 is the latest, so I suspect both v1.12 and v1.13 updates have been pulled, which doesn't fix it for us, but technically you could try uninstalling the app and reinstalling from the Play Store, and you'd hopefully get v1.10 (and the app does use Google's automatic backup, so if you were using a previous version successfully, it's settings should be restored).

I've confirmed that I still have v1.13 on my phone, although it's working for me.

Actually found 1.14 off APK mirror. Not linking in case that's against rules but so far seems good again! Love this app btw

some minor adjustments may be needed, please see notification light settings > position and size
I tweaked thickness +1. moving position just nudged the the slight difference to the other side.

    but thanks anyway. good app

Hi.. this is great. Purchased pro straight away.
Has anyone else noted to that u need to up to X thickness by 1pixel if you want to drop thickness. I think the camera isn't quite central and/or maybe it is and odd number of pixel around camera doesn't fit on our even number of pixels on screen.

    Thanks again

Hi there, quick question. Any option to completely disable blinking (just letting the light solid) ?

Hi there, quick question. Any option to completely disable blinking (just letting the light solid) ?
    Thanks,
The closest I see is if you set the effect speed down to 0%. It winds up solid for a few seconds but then disappears for a few seconds as well before it repeats.

My personal preference is Eco Blink with speed set to 200%, but I know that's not the same thing as what you're looking for.

This app was initially developed for Samsung Galaxy devices with Always on Display. As Pixel devices also have an Always on Display i decided to port the Samsung version to Pixel devices.

You need a notification light / LED for your Pixel 6!
With aodNotify you can easily add a notification light / LED to your Pixel 6!

You can select different notification light styles and show the notification light around the camera cutout, screen edges or even simulate an notification LED dot in the statusbar of your Pixel 6 or Pixel 5!

As the notification light is integrated in Google's Always On Display it has minimal battery consumption and doesn't drain your battery like other apps which keep your phone awake!

    MAIN FEATURES
    • Notification light / LED for Pixel 6, Pixel 5 or Pixel 4a!
    • Low energy notification preview
    • Activate Always On Display (AOD) only on notifications
    • Charging / Low battery light / LED

    MORE FEATURES
    • Notification light styles (around camera, screen, LED dot)
    • Custom app / contact colors
    • ECO animations to save battery
    • Interval mode (on/off) to save battery
    • Night times to save battery

    BATTERY USAGE PER HOUR ~:
    • LED - 3.0%
    • LED & INTERVAL - 2.0%
    • LED & ECO ANIMATION - 1.8%
    • LED & ECO ANIMATION & INTERVAL - 1.5%
    • NOTIFICATION PREVIEW - 1.0%
    • ALWAYS ON DISPLAY - 1.0%

Without notification light the app consumes almost 0% battery!

The Pixel 6's Tensor chip has a context hub, which is a ultra low power context engine especially made for the AOD and other background tasks, wich should reduce power consumption a lot. The values above are approximate values from old Pixel devices.

    DOWNLOAD:

    • Pixel 6 / 6 Pro
    • Pixel 5
    • Pixel 4a
    • Pixel ...

    NOTES
    • The app is still in beta stage, errors may occur!!
    • Google may block this app with future updates!
    • Please check if the app is compatible before updating phone software!
    • Altough we never experienced any screen burn in issues on our test devices, we recommend to not keep the notification light / LED active for a long time! Use at you own responsibility!

    8
I found a way to completely disable the AOD when not needed using adb. Coming in next beta. This can save up to 25% battery per day!
    5
Does that mean that when I have an unread WhatsApp message that creates a green ring around the camera cutout it costs me about 24% battery during 8 hours of sleep?
Oh, these 3% per hour are only approximate values based on old Pixel devices.

The Pixel 6's Tensor chip has a context hub, which is a ultra low power context engine especially made for AOD and other background tasks, wich should reduce power consumption a lot.

Additionally there are low energy eco effects, interval mode and sleep times which can drastically reduce battery consumption in aodNotify.

Just give it a try. As soon as i get my Pixel i'll start optimizing even further.

The position of the light around the camera cutout may not be accurate in this beta.

Position can be adjusted in Notification light > Size & position > fine tuning section in the app.

Good news, i was able to get edge lighting around screen edges to work again on andoid 12.

    New beta coming soon!
