its kind of crazy how much battery this little circle uses though. 1-3% per hour is a lot for what it is.. to me anyway
I paid for it, and im still using it though, and trying to tweak to get the best balance / performance out of it.

Have you already tried one of the echo effects or stamina mode?
I'm using eco blinking effect, but no additional energy saving settings. Maybe you can tweak it by playing around with those options.

You have to read the received notification and not watch the signal for hours.😅
Joking aside, I've been using this app almost since the beginning and I've never had a consumption problem with it.

Hi @Jawomo!
I noticed on my friend's S23 that when the AOD is disabled, it will trigger waking up the screen.
Maybe that's something you can look into.
My scenario for usage would be the following:
Notification comes in
AOD turns on with the animation
It lasts for the defined time
AOD turns off
I can tap to wake it and see my default AOD

It also might be good if it could be used instead (or with) edge lighting without making any changes to the AOD.
So it's just using the animation.

I just noticed that the battery setting, show when charging indicator option on s23 ultra doesnt work. It started to come on for like half a second, then disappeared when i put on the charger.

It shows up in landscape mode aswell? Give an option to disable it.

Also I have custom touch to wake from 100%-40% battery, but I want light to function without affecting the touch to wake, coz there are times I don't want to touch to take but I still want to see the light.

As of now there's no way to have touch to wake and AOD notification enabled at the same time.

It would be great if it had dark theme and we could change language.

Also, it really should have an option to backup and restore our configuration.

I don't know if it's possible (probably not) but it would be great if the notification light could be brighter than the Samsung AOD.

Other thing is that the app is not updated since August 2022...

It's a shame that the developer never answers to customers. At least it happened to me on my Play Store feedback and by email (twice) when I had the OnePlus.

Asking 3.99€ and not even taking the time to reply to their customers, makes me think if I really should buy it or use the Always On Edge app.

I have a request. I have AOD turned off in aodNotify app. Meaning I can only see the notification LED. But during night time, I would like to use AOD. But the problem is when I turn on AOD manually, the aodNotify app will hide it because it's set that way. And I would like to use a routine to automatically turn on AOD. Any ideas ?

In the general settings, there is a custom night time setting. If you set this for example between 10pm and 5am.
At this point in time, a routine would start the AOD function. This is just a tip.

That's not possible unfortunately

can't update the app currently because google added some permission restrictions. means i have to find workaround to get the new update online on playstore.

anyways the app is almost 4 years old and works pretty stable.

I have used this app for a long time starting since when I got rid of S8.

Over a time I found the most efficient and simple way to configure it for myself: it follows Do not Disturb i.e. AOD is always off when DND is on. When DND is off, then AOD just turns on when notifications from selected app are received and that's it - if I see AOD being on, then it is immediately visible that notifications are received and icons of these notifications are displayed as well as they are indicated on lock screen.

No other frills configured and this serves my needs pretty well and seems to be energy efficient enough to not to be a problem for battery life...

Hi,

Anyone with Android 13 receives notifications sometimes saying that AODnotify has acessibility permissions, and need to turn off and on again?

From time to time it happens with this app and with another one I use.

Thanks

That's an Android security "feature" and happens for any app that has accessibility enabled. You should be able to just swipe those notifications away.

Let me know if you need a beta tester. I am on Beta 2 with my SM-S911B and already registered as beta tester for aodNotify (for Samsung) in Play store.
New update is online. Working fine here on oneui 6 beta 2

I can confirm that the new aodNotify version (6.00) is working fine on One UI 6.0 Beta 2 👍🏼
    Thanks!

    What do you mean exactly?
Now update and it works great again. Before this update there was another one that made the AOD turn on completely. since I used the notification preview option.

@Jawomo bro, amazing how responsive you were, I reported a "bug" and within minutes I got an update fixing the screen edge lighting, you are the goat, thank you very much, it was totally worth the purchase of your amazing app :D

You need a notification light / LED for your Galaxy S23 Ultra? With aodNotify you can easily add a notification light / LED directly to Samsung's Always On Display!

You can select different notification light styles and show the notification light around the camera cutout, screen edges or even simulate an notification LED dot in the statusbar of your Galaxy S23 Ultra! As the notification light is integrated in Samsung's Always On Display it has minimal battery consumption and doesn't drain your battery like other apps which keep your phone awake!

If you don't need the Always On Display, the app can also activate the Always On Display (AOD) only on notifications or show the notification light / LED even without the Always On Display!

With the notification preview feature you can directly see if you have important notifications without waking your Galaxy S23 Ultra!

    MAIN FEATURES:
    • Notification light / LED for Galaxy S23 Ultra, Note 20, S20...
    • Low energy notification preview (android 10+)
    • Activate Always On Display (AOD) only on notifications
    • Charging / Low battery light / LED

    MORE FEATURES:
    • Notification light styles (around camera, screen, LED dot)
    • Custom app / contact colors
    • ECO animations to save battery
    • Interval mode (on/off) to save battery
    • Night times to save battery
    • Minimal battery consumption

    BATTERY USAGE PER HOUR ~:
    • LED - 3.0%
    • LED & INTERVAL - 1.5%
    • LED & ECO - 1.5%
    • LED & ECO & INTERVAL - 1.0%
    • NOTIFICATION PREVIEW - 0.5%
    • ALWAYS ON DISPLAY - 0.5%

If there is no notification the app consumes almost 0% battery

    DOWNLOAD:

    NOTES:
    • Samsung may block this app with future updates!
    • Please check if the app is compatible before updating phone software or always on display!
    • Altough we never experienced any screen burn in issues on our test devices, we recommend to not keep the notification light / LED active for a long time! Use at you own responsibility!

"Samsung Galaxy" is a protected trademark of "SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS"

YES but i will trust Samsung or Google or Apple more compared to small app producers. Hence, i tend to stay away from 3rd party apps that requires a lot of permission. Anyway, i tried this app now for 2 days. it does not change how I use my phone as i get all the notifications in AOD and locksreen anyway.. kinda like the dynamic island thingy, fun for few days but does not affect how i interact with a device too much. The trade is not worth it i believe, uninstalled it.
    Hi,

It's your decision and i don't have anything to do with it. I just replied to what you asked.

Honestly, i think it's an absurd for customers need a 3rd party app to do this. There's been long years since we don't have a blinking light "warning" us about a notification and till now they didn't gave us a proper solution.

In my case, I also use AOD (not bright to save battery) and i like/need/want that every X minutes a light comes on to remind me that there's a notification(s) without having to try to see the icons on the AOD, or constantly picking up the phone and I unlock it.

Unfortunately there are serious limitations introduced with android 14. The helper app cannot be sideloaded anymore, thus some features may not work anymore.

Samsung also changed the aod behavior, not allowing the light to update.

I dont know if its a bug in beta or intended behavior. We will have to wait for next android 14 beta to get some clearance..
    still working on it

What about battery? Is it drain a lot?
On my S23 aodNotity had about 1% battery consumption during the past 9 hours (during the night) ... and I received some notifications early this morning.
IMO this is really low and worth it.
