Greetings all,
I just got this phone early this week and toyed with stock for about 20 minutes. Been running custom ROM's since my HTC EVO. I keep hearing that people just don't need to root and use customs ROM's anymore, but SmartBar alone is reason enough for me.
To the meat of my post, I am encountering a weird problem for the first time on any phone. I did a clean flash and I am now just trying to load files onto the phone. Pictures, music, documents.... normal stuff. It doesn't matter if I am downloading it from my NAS, laptop, or via the USB-C to USB-C between two phone; there are just certain files/folders that will not copy. I get the same error - Operation failed. I was trying to copy a parent folder of music named Steel Panther and four sub directories. I only mention the band name to illustrate that there are no unusual characters like an umlaut or tilde. Sometimes it will fail on the copy of the first subdirectory, sometimes it will copy all 4 directories. But no files will copy.. Oddly enough, if I compress the folder/files in a zip, copy that to the phone, decompress it - it works. But that is tedious and I don't want to do that for every group of files.
I use Mixplorer for almost all my file management on Android devices. Except for the phone to phone transfer, that I use the Files app. I am not necessarily asking for someone to figure this out for me, I just want to know if anyone who uses this ROM has seen this. I am wanting to see if this is a phone specific problem, ROM problem, or an installation problem.
Thanks guys.

Quick question, any way to increase the ambient display brightness? I go back and forth between the stock Rom and this, and I've noticed that the ambient display on the stock Rom is brighter significantly. Doing the day I can barely see it. Any way to turn that up a bit? I know there isn't a setting option, I'm talking through ADB or a kernel tweak. Thanks in advance. Great Rom btw. I've tried a few others and for me it's this or stock, nothing else.
I found this:
https://www.xda-developers.com/customize-google-pixel-2-always-on-display-brightness/
It is in reference to the Pixel 2, but I don't see why it wouldn't work on any phone that has AOD since that is where it came from.
