Of course there are advantages...

It's got like 4 pages worth of setting for you to play with ...

And it's using EAS instead of HMP... So... The chances of better battery are high...

And "lag" is totally based on perception .. so...
Though most say it's minimal

the ROM is definitely smoother with less lag. the battery life unfortunately still isn't very good.

Hello
i own the Essential Phone bout 4 weeks and i flashed this ROM. It is really great but i have a WIFI problem i hope someone can help me with.

I am connected to the WIFI but when i want to check mails, surf or something else nothing happens, no data is flowing. I have to deactivate and again
acitivate the WIFI to make all work. Not always but very often :/

Is this a known problem?

Thank you

I just did a clean installation of latest AOSiP on my PH1 and I noticed Magisk Manager SafetyNet check is reporting ctsProfile false. Anyone can confirm this issue?
My device is using latest July firmware, from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/essential-phone/development/stock-7-1-1-nmj20d-t3701681.
Thanks, in advance, for the reports.
can confirm the same too on todays aosip build.
My PH1 is passing SafetyNet checks thanks to a new device fingerprint found at this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79831667&postcount=1922

I changed the fingerprint with "MagiskHide Props Config" Magisk Module.

Which device fingerprint did you choose?
The one that corresponds to Essential PH-1 at the attached file of the post, which is the latest fingerprint for this device.

In case it's useful, I'm attaching the printlist file I generated with that fingerprint to use according to this procedure: https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-R...lob/master/README.md#custom-fingerprints-list (the txt extension of the attached file must be removed to use it).

How to Close Keyboard ?

Hey everyone, I'm new to the whole custom rom game and I'd love your help with an issue I'm having.

I installed this ROM and am using the Fling navbar (which I totally love). However, it's not working well when I have my keyboard open. My left tap action is set to 'back', but when I have my keyboard open it should just close the keyboard, rather than go back an entire page (which it does). This is the way it's set up on stock Pie. Is there any way to do this without just going back to the stock navbar? Thanks in advance.

Try using the 'SmartBar' navigation if your gaving issues. U can customize the actions and also add your own buttons with this navigation mode. Hope this helps.

Quick question, any way to increase the ambient display brightness? I go back and forth between the stock Rom and this, and I've noticed that the ambient display on the stock Rom is brighter significantly. Doing the day I can barely see it. Any way to turn that up a bit? I know there isn't a setting option, I'm talking through ADB or a kernel tweak. Thanks in advance. Great Rom btw. I've tried a few others and for me it's this or stock, nothing else.

Greetings all,

I just got this phone early this week and toyed with stock for about 20 minutes. Been running custom ROM's since my HTC EVO. I keep hearing that people just don't need to root and use customs ROM's anymore, but SmartBar alone is reason enough for me.

To the meat of my post, I am encountering a weird problem for the first time on any phone. I did a clean flash and I am now just trying to load files onto the phone. Pictures, music, documents.... normal stuff. It doesn't matter if I am downloading it from my NAS, laptop, or via the USB-C to USB-C between two phone; there are just certain files/folders that will not copy. I get the same error - Operation failed. I was trying to copy a parent folder of music named Steel Panther and four sub directories. I only mention the band name to illustrate that there are no unusual characters like an umlaut or tilde. Sometimes it will fail on the copy of the first subdirectory, sometimes it will copy all 4 directories. But no files will copy.. Oddly enough, if I compress the folder/files in a zip, copy that to the phone, decompress it - it works. But that is tedious and I don't want to do that for every group of files.

I use Mixplorer for almost all my file management on Android devices. Except for the phone to phone transfer, that I use the Files app. I am not necessarily asking for someone to figure this out for me, I just want to know if anyone who uses this ROM has seen this. I am wanting to see if this is a phone specific problem, ROM problem, or an installation problem.

Thanks guys.

I found this: https://www.xda-developers.com/customize-google-pixel-2-always-on-display-brightness/

It is in reference to the Pixel 2, but I don't see why it wouldn't work on any phone that has AOD since that is where it came from.

Greetings all,

It's probably your cord. It's not the rom's fault and not a phone specific problem ( I guess it could be a problem with yours, but i doubt it). You could switch it up and and try a different file manager like the one below. Also maybe make sure your phone doesn't go to sleep, so bump up the screen on time. I've been using this rom for over as year off and on and I have never had this problem. Good luck

I notice that issue when I'm using my USB to USB-c adapter. I'm pretty sure (on mine, anyway) it's due to a bad fit on the plug. If I put the phone down and don't move it, transfer occurs flawlessly. Have you tried to make transfers via wifi or nfc?

OK, I have tried the following scenario's:
- USB-C to USB-C cord that came with the phone to try phone to phone transfer. Failed.
- USB-C to USB cord for a laptop to phone transfer. Failed after a while. I used my Pixel 2XL cord, my daughters OnePlus 5T cord, and a brand new cord.
- Tried to do a USB tether + WebDAV server but this phone refuses to enable USB Tethering
- FTP Server running on the phone and copying files via a laptop works, but it took a long time to copy pictures and music over.
- copying via SMB from my NAS works, but again... not as fast a a USB connection.

I know that it is not this ROM for sure though. I flashed Liquid last night and it is exactly the same scenario. I'm wondering if the internal memory is damaged or something.

Thanks for all the ideas people.

I didn't real your whole problem. But if your trying to sync your files between phone and computer, use Syncthing, you'll love it! You can sync between computers/phones/linux devices.

Holy smokes... that thing sounds awesome! Thank you very much for the recommendation. I'm sure it's not as fast as USB transfer speeds, but if it is reliable, it will be useful for so much more!

After the latest update I've had trouble with Lawn chair interfering with pixel launcher. I use pixel launcher, but I noticed lawnchair is listed in my app drawer. I clicked on it and then my phone system ui started closing a bunch. I rebooted and it persisted. For some reason now it stopped, but wanted to make sure this shouldn't be a future issue. Thanks.

    Bug reporting:

    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab dmesg . (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
    • Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.
