[AOSP 8.1] [2019-03-06] Phh-Treble

Search This thread
hi all . I have tried to install gsi on Pixel Xl with no success. the closest i get is the android splash screen, it just sits there and shimmers (almost hypnotic). is there something Im missing? I've tried many tutorials using TWRP and fastboot with different wipe instructions to no avail. I'm hoping someone here has experience specifically with Marling US 128gb starting from the latest factory img . I know my details are vague however I've followed so many different tutorials that my head is spinning.
Edit. also for some reason I can successfully issue adb reboot commands while on the shimmering android screen. that seems odd to me.

That's one of the tutorials I followed. They're referring to older Android versions so I thought maybe I was missing something. I've truly searched in earnest for a solution but haven't been successful completely booting a 10 or 11 GSI . No luck with the treble ROMs either. Thanks for taking the time. I will keep googling ?
Update: I had been following the guides with my device on the 10 factory image. once I downgraded to 8.1 factory I was able to get on straight android 10 with Gapps thanks to Phh aosp 10 with gapps. After a backup i will try to flash R GSI. BTW no vbmeta or any other stuff was needed. booted 8.1, rebooted to recovery did factory reset, rebooted to bootloader, fastboot erased system, fastboot flash name of system img and reboot. didnt take more than three minutes to boot into the "Hi" screen.

AOSP 8.1

Hi,

I have a unique need for AOSP 8.1 LG flip phones.

Any way we can talk?

What be a good number to reach you?

Download link for 8,1 at original post is down. Where can i get it?

__ all versions are here : (8.1,9,10,11)
(I think the latest version 8.1 is AOSP 8.1 v32)
Press the keys Releases & Tags, to find what you want , and the latest versions etc)

PLAYSTORE VERIFICATION

Anyone looking for Google Playstore certification on any rooted android device.

1.Use a root file explorer.
2. Navigate to data/data/com.android.vending/sharedprefs
3. Look for file named finsky.xml
4. Open finsky.xml with your root explorer text editor.
5. Look for a line that say:
" <boolean name="device-google-certified" value="false" />"
6. Change the word "false" to "true" inside of the quotes.
7. Save, exit and reboot.
8. Once reboot goto playstore settings and scroll down, check "device is certified"

I was tinkering about with android TV boxes and thought I would try it on phones. It will help with some apps and updating playstore etc etc.

Regards

All GSI's listed do not work on the DOOGEE S88 PRO. Yes I went from latest Android 11 aosps right down to android 9.

I followed these flashing steps:

1. Factory reset, enable OEM unlocking and usb debug
2. ADB reboot bootloader
3. Fastboot flashing unlock
4. Fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img (one downloaded from Google.)
5. Fastboot reboot fastboot
6. Fastboot erase system
7. Fastboot flash system system.img
8. Fastboot reboot

Boots into recovery saying that I need to factory reset the device, of course picking any option just causes the same bootloop.

Camera and Fingerprint not work.
This is an experimental GSI image. Not everything will work. Also, sony erases the TA partition when you unlock your bootloader, which contains DRM keys for the camera and other hardware-specific features. No new features will be added. This ROM is simply designed to ease the process of porting AOSP to other devices. Parts of hardware that don't support the Treble API will not work!

WARNING: You'll most probably loose ALL your data, and might break your phone. Please use with extreme caution!

The goal of this ROM is to provide full Treble-compatible hardware support, and nothing else.
This means that hardware which DON'T have Treble API won't be supported, like Essential's external camera.
No feature will be added. This will ease forward porting to new Android versions, which is the very goal of Project Treble :)

My hope is that other ROM developers will use this ROM as a basis to construct more advanced ROM.

For a list of supported devices, consult and fill https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki

How to know if your phone is supported:

    - Does your OEM provides a stock Oreo ROM?
No ===> Your phone is not supported
    - Run Treble Check on stock Oreo ROM. Does it say Treble is supported?
No ===> Your phone is not supported

If all answers are yes, then your phone MIGHT be supported.
Test it, and report the result!

    Build script available at https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/blob/master/build.sh

    Current status:

    Over-all:

    Xperia XZ1:
    - Broken camera (because of Sony's DRM)

Huawei Mate 9 Pro and Honor 9:
    - Fingerprint sensor should have "home" behaviour
    - software keys should be disabled

Known end-user problems (WON'T BE FIXED in this ROM):
    - No exfat
    70
    Known mess:
    - A-only should use https://android-review.googlesource.com/q/hashtag:"non-ab-boot-gsi"+(status:open OR status:merged) instead of dm-verity hacks
    - the dm-verity work-around is also needed on A/B, so other patches are missing, for some other reason
    - On A/B devices, this system.img effectively transforms the device into a userdebug build. This means adb root works!
adb root should work on A-only later too, though it requires that the OEM includes https://android-review.googlesource.com/q/topic:move-adbd-to-system+(status:open+OR+status:merged)
This can probably be worked-around by moving adbd inside a /system/etc/init/xxx.rc
    - ADB auth is totally disabled at the moment on A/B, this is bad, but useful for debugging.
    - Huawei (for instance Mate 9) doesn't declare android.hardware.fingerprint. This ROM does it for them, but this need to be better implemented
    - SuperSU and Magisk screws with SELinux policy. DO NOT USE SuperSU OR Magisk WITH THIS ROM
    31
There, I released my first Android 8.1 version.
Overall, I consider it less stable than 8.0, but I think it should be usable.

    For the known limitations:
    - On MTK, camera doesn't work
    - On Huawei, I could get Huawei stock app to run

And Download manager is still broken, so you still have to kill play store every time you want to download an app...

Dirty flash should work, but I barely tested it.

It took me a lot of effort, so please enjoy :)
