i got 120hz working. It's worked all along. if you dont change the resolution to 4k screen size, itll freeze your phone. I used DPI changer and changed it 821 dpi, and screen size 2160x3840 and now it works just fine. slight delay on power button wake up but not biggy. No crashes. Nothing.

Are you sure it's 120hz? I might just jump into this now. Btw im on official firmware and I also get the delay on power button if I keep a lockscreen. I just off my lockscreen and fingerprint and I actually prefer it this way now. Weird but yeah.

Can you confirm 120hz and 4k or are we still unsure of it?

You right. Just pulled some screen data. In the extended settings , it says its on 120hz with no crash. But the screen data still says 60.4fps But since i have it scaled up to 4k it might not be reading it do to being in 4k. Next try would be trying to figure out what dpi and resolution on the xz premium is 1080p

I'm a little confused about this. How did you fix 120hz?

I know this is probably a stupid question but I generally want to know... this is my first xperia but in not new to rooting and flashing but for me a big reason for buying a xperia is I do a lot of traveling and I love the ps4 remote play and I wanted to know if that still works in the aosp rom...

But did you feel the smoothness of 120hz in apps or not?
Honestly it was probably just a placebo effect. Aosp is already pretty snappy. I tried many fps testing apps and it still said 60hz

Edit*****
Tried out the 7.1.1 version. Couldn't really see the difference between 60 and 120hz. Confirmed working though. Could see 4k difference. This makes me rethink also till it's furthermore developed

G8142 (dual sim)

At the moment I'm not using AOSP anymore, but these builds should work. They contain all the changes/commits until this evening, so hopefully its more stable and has working fingerprint scanner.

EDIT: Crap, somehow i forgot to select the boot.img for the G8141 version so i have to rebuild it tomorrow...
Alright, I'll give it a whirl and report back. EDIT: your system.img gives me bootloop
Any news on the 120hz/DRS fix? Github has been awefully quiet.
Also wondering how hard it is to port in nite lite. Somebody had a flashable zip but put everyone who tried it into a boot loop, so it was a flop. Turbo has it in his rom but doesnt work for me.

finally, I always buy phones keeping my autistic eyes in mind. I hate Samsung but always bought them because of the amoled, but pwm sucks. Today my xzp will arrive, will flash and try. But how do we switch back to custom stock rom?
So 120hz only works on nougat 4 now?

I recommend you reconsider unlocking your phone.

Unlike nexus devices, Sony phones lose their DRM inside the device and some important features like camera noise processing FOREVER.

As you unlock your phone, there's no way turning back, and AOSP based roms take terrible photos due to broken DRM. There's DRM bypass patch which makes unlocked phones work like locked ones, but it works only with stock roms and is temporary fix.

I mean, with Sony phones, you'll have to lose some important features if you want to unlock yours, and I recommend you considering it carefully.

Also, 120hz seems to be not working at least with Oreo roms.

I have Z3 with locked bootloader + root + drm keys backup
for XZ Premium I am in the process of unlocking the bootloader, but in my opinion a phone that cannot be rooted / xposed is not worth buying. This is ANDROID the pinnacle of customization, not crapIOS. I could have bought Samsung S8 or S9, I had many phones and Samsung phones are really laggy, unless you root your phone and install custom firmware, and at least recently, Sony has AOSP support. I am proud of Sony.

edit: it works on nougat, but microphone isnt functional and doesnt support extfat sd card :(
Something is messed up then cause it was working with me. The problem I had with nougat was the headphone jack worked when it wanted. It would not work when I had viper4android installed. I had to use an old cyanogen mod sound fix apk to get it to function correctly. Currently on stock turbo rom with wifi calling and volte. Just patiently waiting for the 120hz fix which is coming very soon.
