On installing Magisk,
I receive this notification after each restart
"the su binary is out of date"
Is there a way to update the binary?
Hey guys. On an M5 8.4, oreo .163. Unlocked bootloader, shows 'phone"unlocked" & "FRP unlock". USB debug enabled in dev opt. Tried flashing gapps su through adb, sparse error. Ended up erecovery as slate was wiped. Then dawned on me should probably be vanilla nosu, flashed no probs, back to "this device has been unlocked etc and factory restore/wipe cache/reset" screens.
Any pointers where i'm going wrong??
EDIT: Didn't know the .xz needed to be extracted!
All working now but continually have "android.process.media keeps stopping". Only way to stop this is by disabling download manager which for obvious reasons isn't really possible. Play store not working, Netflix not compatible, what's the fix?
Used aonly gapps.
I used system-arm64-aonly-gapps-su.img.xz
I'm running it on a M5 8.4 with no issues whatsoever, Netflix is fine, no media errors you describe. I'm on the 185 base, full wipe and flashed the system via recovery (didn't go the TWRP route, too many bricked devices on the unofficial build.). After flashing wiped cache and formatted data in recovery (don't recall the fastboot commands that did this).
The only issues I found. Keep an eye on the flashing process, I had errors from a specific cable on a usb2 port. Switched to s different cable and different vport on the PC and it was fine.
Once you are up and running, you will likely see font rendering blurryness, there is a setting in phh treble settings to fix this.
I installed magisk once everything was working, I disabled the built in su app, as it complained about bring out of date (don't remove it, just disable). There is a build.prop setting tweak to get Google assistant.
My device is now behaving perfectly and works and looks like a pixel tablet. Very pleased indeed.
