I was getting the same problems. Here is how I am working around the problem. First, install Open Camera from the app store. Disable the stock camera app and reboot your phone. From this point on, only use the Open Camera app as it seems to work without issues. It is a little slow and has delayed responses but it allows you to take picture and videos without issues.

Seems to work will on the US Cellular s3 with slim ROM Final KitKat release.

I too have problems with camera not connecting sometimes, not sure that is a kernel if you or not?

Most definitely it's kernel because I switched to another and it works.

Really strange. When doing a clean flash with MIUI kitkat it doesn't boot up. But
doing a clean rom install, booting it up, then flashing kernel after initial boot = success. What's with that?

@Imoseyon any luck with d2 kernel for lollipop with f2fs support?

I really enjoy my d2tmo liquid smooth, but I am missing Lk so much...

I've actually been waiting for official cm-12 builds since it will be a lot less effort for me to just merge in necessary commits then. :) Let me see if I'll have some time this weekend....

Hell yea! I use it on KK on my d2tmo all the time. Its my preferred kernel of choice.

Thanks for the response! I'll look into that rom in a bit. I have customized the Hell outta carbon plus my xposed add ins. I read xposed isn't working on 5 yet...What a shame I really wanted to try it but certain daily apps working work without it... ugh. Guess I'm adding this to the waiting list?

I dunno. I gave Xposed a while ago and I'm running LP right now and I don't miss it like I thought I would. The only thing I really miss is the YouTube ad blocker. That was a good module...

Sorry, bit of a noob question.

I've flashed kernels before, but only as part of a full wipe clean flash, ROM -> gapps -> kernel.

I want to try this with carbon ROM. Is it OK to just flash a kernel over an existing ROM? Any wipes recommended to make sure the process goes smooth?

Thanks

This is an AOSP kernel (Jellybean only). Use this thread to report bugs, etc.

NOTE: Make sure you're on the latest AOSP nightly ROM if you're flashing leanKernel later than v5.4.2.

    DOWNLOADFEATURES
    1. Unnecessary components removed for lean and fast kernel.
    2. A bunch of code tweaks to help stabilize the kernel.
    3. Latest Linux updates applied.
    4. Some commits from latest CM10 kernel cherry-picked and merged. Starting v2.0, cm-10.1 source is used as base.
    5. Ramdisk optimizations.
    6. OC'ed to 1.8-1.9Ghz (limited to 1.51Ghz at boot, use an app to change max freq)
    7. Tuned Deadline I/O scheduler. ROW Scheduler default.
    8. Fast Charge (toggle via the "ffc" script - open terminal, type ffc then enter, plug in phone via USB)
    9. InteractiveX V3 - optimized for S3, screen_off_maxfreq sysfs interface (default set to 810Mhz).
    10. wakelock tweaks for better power efficiency.
    11. Modified thermal control - fully support OC beyond 1.5ghz
    12. Custom voltage control via sysfs (recommend using setcpu, voltage control, or system tuner)
    13. lkflash script to flash latest kernel versions
    14. lkconfig script to configure leanKernel specific features
    15. Two more sleep states: Retention and Standalone Power Collapse
    16. Faux Sound support
    17. CM 10.1 color temp control
    18. 3D GPU 480Mhz slot

    leanKernel scripts
lkflash (flash latest leanKernel versions from your phone)
    Code:
    root@android:/ # lkflash

    ok v9.8 is up: https://github.com/imoseyon/leanKernel-d2vzw/wiki/AOSP-ChangeLog

Keep in mind that this build is tested with the latest CM nightly only.

    v6.1 is up.

    https://github.com/imoseyon/leanKernel-d2vzw/wiki/AOSP-ChangeLog

CM-10.1 stock kernel development has slowed down, so starting v6.1 I'm going to try to merge in latest CodeAurora code directly into leanKernel so in some cases lk will be ahead of cm-10.1 kernel in terms of upstream code from CA.
