You can download either the cm10 or scv7 and use the mms/sms apps from there, they are both aosp/cm open source based. SCV7 is really a stock rom with mostly aosp parts, so be careful there, since this has already been done, and done for almost a year now with the SC ROM. You might PM rdavisct first if you plan to do/use this.
Once you pull the rom zip down, you can pull anything out from them you want, while on your computer.
You do know how to use the kitchen, right? You can build a rom based off of another one, and swap in and out apps, just make sure to give credit where credit is due.
