I wonder can't we just install all gapps included in 8.1 and then make them system apps using magisk
Nope. You can't install gapps included in Android 8.1
Edit: API Level changes due to which the gapps from 8.1 won't work.

You'll never know till you try. Take a TWRP backup and try flashing them, if they didn't work then restore your backup.

I will definitely try, but not now. So until I am not going to try and if someone already tried can share his views and ideas, that's the meaning of the XDA community.:victory:

Thanks for the time dedicated for Onyx's users. Are you going to maintain LOS 16 building?

Yes. I will continue to maintain los. Maybe an almost pure aosp too? At least, they have no major bug. :)

would u pls share ur flashing step, if u don't mind :D

Prerequisite:: you are on latest custom recovery, I am using TWRP. Downloaded pie test build zip, which is not corrupted :p , Gapps ( any micro nano picko you like) and basic knowledge of what you are about to do. Mount storages and partitions if not mounted.

1)wipe system, data, cache (internal storage if you want to :p ); whatever you do for clean flash

2)select pie zip file to flash and wait till it get successfully flashed.

    3) reboot to system. Don't flash Gapps right now.

Wait till it get rebooted and again boot to recovery.

    4) flash Gapps file you downloaded via custom recovery.

    Again wait till success.

    5) reboot to system.

And your device is ready with Gapps installed on Pie.

Do same to flash Magisk module zip.

****Gapps download links are in past post of mine in here.****

I successfully flashed pie and micro gapps, and it is working as it should be.

You can flash MAGISK and get root access without any hassle. Mine got rooted and found no problem. Now I will try some modules to check.

I got play store showing "device is not certified". Is this only with me or someone else has same status too?

Substratum theme engine is not working. As well system black theme is not working for me.

Camera performed well. If you try to store images and videos to sdcard then blank image is stored and for slomo or video you will get force close, while for internal storage there is no problem.

    Faceunlock is working:cowboy:.

For other problems I will get list updated.
@YumeMichi : As this is the 1st TEST BUILD and still I think it can be used as a daily driver. Very good work. I really appreciate your work.
