whats with the permissions requests?? you guys are getting these right?? they wouldn't run until i allowed it...

Following the instructions above i was not able to install the Music2.apk - here is what worked for me on the following device:
device: passion
rom: stock GRK39F
others: unlocked bootloader, rooted
Installed was only the 2.3.6 version of the stock Music app, located in /system/app/MusicGoogle.apk
I connected via terminal and deleted the original apk (after backing it up) - only the apk; *NOT* the odex file! (Note: You may need to remount.) Then i rebooted. So far, so good.
But trying to install the new Musik2.apk from /mnt/sdcard failed; Installation dialog ended with an "application not installed"-message.
So what i did was to simply copy the Musik2.apk into /system/app and reboot again. And without the need of installing it, now it worked. Maybe it helps somebody.. Greetz.

Its different, but am I the only one dissapointed that the widget is the same?? I was hoping they finally get ride of that old widget and come up with a nice looking one.

u have to remove also com.android.music under data/data (make a backup or rename)

yea that widget is so 1.6 looking.. i was hoping for a fresh new one also
I used root toolbox to delete the music.apk, reboot, installed music 4.0.1, got force kills. Ran fix permissions with reboot toolbox, works perfect now.
No it's not just you. There's no Music Beta support (I thought there would be). At least for me it doesn't sync or even request to log in, and there's no options for syncing. So I downgraded back to v3.
Also Google+ is worse than the current Market version. It won't get any location information and there's no settings for notifications. Downgraded that too...
Weird. When I installed Music 4, it didn't show up in Android syncing options for my account, which is probably the reason why it didn't sync. Music v3 works and syncs all right. Maybe it's some kind of language issue, since my Nexus isn't in English. Oh well, going with v3 for now...
have you tried to 'clear data'? Sometimes even v3 doesn't sync for me, until i clear data...
i just can't use Music 3 anymore, seems soooo laggy!
Yes I did, but it didn't help the first time. Tried again though and now it works
it worked till i rebooted... now every time i reboot and try to open it it FC's then i have to reinstall it and it works till another reboot... sigh.
