I tried that. Play Store shows 3.27 for me.

But every APK I try to install says package is corrupted. :(
Go to settings>apps>press on cog>special access>access to notifications and enable moto display there

Btw this new moto display has a one critical bug: if moto display is on and you will put phone into pocket screen may start constantly flashing - at least that was happening on my moto x style.

Ok, maybe try installing X4 APK again. Then disable it (Moto display app) once disabled it should revert back to factory original once you enable the stock Moto display under system apps. Did you follow these steps originally?
Yes, I tried these steps. While the original Moto Display came back. The notifications wouldn't show. So I re-installed the X4 APK.

Go to settings>apps>press on cog>special access>access to notifications and enable moto display there
Just tried this.

And it worked! :)

Steps taken were:
1) Disable X4 Moto Display
2) Enable Factory Moto Display
3) Grant Notification access to Moto Display
4) Reboot

Thank you! :)

Perhaps why I have noticed a dip in battery life?

For those who have installed these apks but cannot run them i have a tipp.
Use an app like QuickShortcut Maker to create an Shortcut to an Activity inside the installed MotoAction.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=de
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sika5...uickshortcutmaker-2-4-0-android-apk-download/

Just install and run this app.
There you see a list with all installed apps and you can toggle to open list of activities inside the choosen app (Moto Action for example)
You can create shortcuts to open the choosen Activities for further use...
Just an idea.

Hi, thanks for these apps.
I have a Moto Z Play, but when I try to respond to a sms on the locked screen , all I see is the keyboard not the message that I have typed and I can't see the button to send the message ?

Is there something to do ?
I have set the authorization in the moto display settings.

Is it working for you ?

Ok, I found my problem, I was using the app 'custom navigation bar' with immersive mode on, this app causes some crash on the UI, If I disable immersive mode, it's working

I'm using this on a Moto Z, the circle that shows the battery percentage is blue. I made all the "trainings" that was suggested, but it is still blue.
Is that normal?

I installed this in my Moto x pure xt1575 and it broke the color saturation options. It doesn't show up under settings/apps.
Is it possible to uninstall it? Seems like I sorta did through Google play store but color option is still broken. I have another xt1575 in my possession if that helps. Both running nougat. No sim in the other phone
Hey guys,

I've been digging through the Moto apps from the X4 to see how much is compatible with my Z, and to my surprise the Moto Display APK works perfectly and upgrade the Z's to that of the Z2 series, complete with the option to reply without unlocking the screen. No root needed, just install like any other APK. Thought I'd share. Enjoy! :good:

Go to settings-apps. Them enable show system app, search for moto display, In moto display tap on the Rigth superior 3 dot and tap uninstall update.
You are ready to go!

Can some good soul please upload the moto display.apk from moto G5plus or Moto Z2. I want to try these to see if they work less buggy on the X style than the X4 app. I will be really gratefull!

Right, I'm back from holiday.

Here are the rest of the interesting APKs I pulled from the X4: Google Drive link

This includes:

  • Smart Lock (for Moto Voice)
  • gallery3d (the local stub that plugs into Google Photos)
  • MotoSound
  • Motorola Update Services
  • Motorola Services Main
  • Motorola SLPC System
  • MotoKey
  • Motorola Notifications
  • Motorola Modem Service
  • MotoHide
  • Moto (the core app the Moto features are accessed through)
  • Moto Voice
  • Moto photo editor
  • Google Launcher Config
  • FM Radio + FM Radio Service
  • X4 Camera
  • X4 Camera Tuner
  • Audio Effects (EQ)
  • OEM Overlay
  • And More!

NOTE: Only a few of these will install over existing system apps in the largely-unified 7.1.1 build for Moto devices. Of those, very few will work/open at all. Of those, even fewer will do anything noteworthy. In short, these probably won't work - I have tested only on a Dual SIM original flavour Z. I cannot help you troubleshoot these apps on random Moto device #3 because I do not currently have any Moto devices on-hand other than my Z, and also because these APKs have not been modified in any way - this is obvious when you think about it, because they would not install over existing system applications if Motorola's APK signature had been tampered with.

The functional, easy install of the Moto Display update was the big find here. Who knows, some of the others may prove useful to somebody too.

That said - here's a few specific notes:

  • The EQ will install and appears to work
  • Motorola Notifications, Motorola Update Services, and Motorola Modem Service all installed for me with no ill effects noted
  • Moto Voice installs and allows enrollment for Show Me commands, but does nothing after enrollment is completed
  • MotoKey installs and can be accessed with activities shortcut manager apps (e.g. Nova launcher's activities shortcuts, QuickShortcutMaker, More Actions et cetera), but force closes
  • The X4 camera installs and works, but it's missing all the other modes and doesn't produce photos any better than the stock app - it's also crashy and you'll get two camera icons in the app drawer
  • FM Radio installs but doesn't work
  • The Moto app update installs but demands it be uninstalled when opened

If you're using a rooted device and install these as /system apps with appropriate permissions, you may have more luck.

Please don't smash my Drive's bandwidth too hard, mirrors would be appreciated. :)

GLHF.

Heads up...

The moto audio effects from this repository installs on Moto E4 & E⁴ Plus, but a dialog warning of incompatibility appears each time an audio instance is created in a media player (that means start of playback, skipping, etc., all trigger a new dialog).

It's annoying, but the sound quality is much improved to Bluetooth speaker, enough that it's worth the visual annoyance of the dialog, for me. [edit: no, it's definitely not the same as simply setting the original audio effects application settings to 'off'] This solves one of the biggest issues I've had with my Moto phones - Bluetooth speaker audio was pessimal compared to Sharp's Harman Kardon optimized mobile sound.
