Guys,

Here the search of WIFI Direct Ends. How..?? By this Tremendous APK called Fast File Transfer
Fast File Transfer is an alternative for Bluetooth file sending.
The app uses Wi-Fi Tethering for establishing a connection between the devices but does not need the Internet.
Due to its high speed, this technology is especially recommended for sending big files. My transfer speed is around Max 15Mbps(approx).

It is compatible with all devices & all Android Version[tested over Note 1, Note 2, MMX A110, Xperia Neo V & our Galaxy R with GB to JB / CM10.1 Android Versions]

Click here for download from Play Store -> Download

How does it work..??
  • Just install the APK & turn it on.
  • Enter User ID (as per you wish else it will provide by itself) & then choose 8 Digit Password.
  • Now select the any files using file explorer->choose send -> touch over "Fast file Transfer"
  • It will initialized the process

  • Now, jst ask 2nd party(who actually need the file) to turn on the WIFI & pair it with your WIFI hotspot connection.
  • It will give you IP address(Dont worry it will not charge to your internet connection)-> put the same in 2nd party's internet browser & tap enter.

Wollhaaaaa..you can have the File with max transfer speed

You guys can also try kies air (for those on stock rom), ipmsg, airdroid, wifi file transfer.

All these apps require a portable hotspot option in one phone and a browser in the other device in which you wish to transfer the files to

Kies air works on cm also. I tried today. But problem is it detects only /mnt/sdcard and not /mnt/emmc. Weird. On stock rom, as we know external sd was mounted as /sdcard/external-sd so it was detectable.
About the wifi direct, a lot of such apps dont use wifi direct as they work on most devices.
Google just provides preliminary support for wifi direct in os, as adam told, and the APIs and samsung actually made an app out of it, though it looks like hooked up to touchwiz.
There are apps that actually use wifi direct and not need a hotspot. I just saw one named wifi shoot but its paid, there's a free version but it just sends photos and videos. I think there should be other such apps.
