I rolled back to Talk from Hanout app.
I wonder is there a way to install Google Talk as well as Hangout apps at the same time in same device..I've Talk as stock app came with my device and now, if I can somehow install hangout app (from an APK available from somewhere) to my SD card (or even internally, if it is possible), it would be great!
I'd rather change the name of gtalk. This way I can keep hangouts installed via playstore. So any new updates that may fix the issues that bother me gets installed easily.
I've an unrooted device in which Talk app came with the stock ROM. So I don't think I will be allowed to edit the name of Talk app. Have you infact tried what you have said and found it working?
Get the talk app, change its package name and install it alongside the one you already have. Then update the original one
You will then have talk and the original hangouts at the same time without root

Upload the talk apk, I'll do the rest for you, all you'll need to do is install it afterwardsI already have talk installed..now when I try to install Talk from an apk file by renaming it to Talktest, still it says that this will replace the system app Talk..which means I will end up having only 1 talk app and not 2, right?
