I get similar problems as reported by someone earlier in the thread. Rooted 4.0.2, stock rom, stock kernel, using Motorola's OTG cable from the Xoom and my USB drives won't light up or activate your app to request superuser permissions.

I don't know what to tell you guys other then "if the USB sticks aren't lighting up, it's not a StickMount problem".

EDIT: interestingly, somebody has just posted the following comment on my DSLR Controller app, which also uses USB host:

Rooted Galaxy Nexus I was originally disappointed upon getting my Galaxy Nexus, as I couldn't get it to work correctly using the Motorola Xoom OTG cable. I saw that people were getting it to work on the nexus, so I tried a different $3 cable I got off eBay, and it works great. Live view to the Nexus screen is beautiful. Should be a fun app!

This implies the Xoom OTG cable may not be compatible with the Galaxy Nexus... which is weird. It's also not the first time I've read similar comments, tbh.

I have some weird problems with StickMount 1.1 ... First of all it doesn't work for me ...
I first tried it with Modaco Custom Rom ... Version pre7 ... with this version I was able to mount the usb stick via 'mount' command from commandline.
So I was able to mount the usb-stick to /sdcard/whatever ... this works ...
But this wasn't very handy, so I decided to use StickMount because of automouont feature.
First problem: It seems that StickMount and the Modaco customisations aren't good friend, so I decided to switch to PaulW21781's ICL53F Deodexed Rooted Rom, with full wipe.
Now it started to be weird. When I started StickMount the root-permission didn't appear - some time - after I closed StickMount the Superuser popup shows ... a little late ... I accepted SU for future use.
I started StickMount again and clicked the mount button. 'mounted devices': none' . I replugged the usb-stick. Automount message comes up, I agreed, StickMount said it searchs for something and disappeared. Nothing was mounted . I rebooted the GN, same procedure, same result. I read the path for mounting is /sdcard/usbStorage/{device} ... under Modaco it was sda ... so I created the path /sdcard/usbStorage/sda and mounted again with StickMount. Now it showd mounted device /sdcard/usbStorage/sda ... success ... well ... not ... the directory was empty ... after unmount the directory was gone. Seems that StickMount creates and deletes the mount directories.

Has anyone an idea what to do?
Another Rom?

Thanks for help!

Björn ...

Ok, thank you for fast reply.
I see it now. I tried to reformat stick to exFAT and then FAT32 and only last worked.

Do you plannig add other FS too?
I tried another application called "USB Mass Storage Watcher OTG" and it works with NTFS, but quiet drain my battery :)

i tried running the mount command manually

I used "mount -t vfat /dev/block/sda1 /mnt/sdcard/usbStorage" before I started using StickMount, so try that. The issue in your command was the "sda", new devices appear as "sda1", "sda2" and so on.
