I used "mount -t vfat /dev/block/sda1 /mnt/sdcard/usbStorage" before I started using StickMount, so try that. The issue in your command was the "sda", new devices appear as "sda1", "sda2" and so on.
i have done a ls in /dev/block. it is sda, not sda1.

i am not sure what is wrong with my 4.0.2 the mount just doesn't seems to work. i will try a system flash again to see if it helped

because i got the same error message with my cifs.ko.

If only sda is present, and not sda1, sda2, etc, the device does recognize the stick itself, but not it's partitions.
chainfire.

this is the test i made.

if i run "mount -t vfat /dev/block/sda /mnt/sdcard/usbStorage" (it works now).

this is from terminal.

i guess there is another issue. the software is not asking for SU permission.

does your script only mount sdaX devices?

My $2 otg cables both work BUT I am having issue unmounting the usb.. When I click unmount it comes up with the toast saying there is an active mount... It stays mounted.
I have tried ending all apps I used the usb with but it still won't unmount..

Any ideas?
Thanks.

can you try running this in terminal with su permission?

"mount -t vfat /dev/block/sda /mnt/sdcard/usbStorage"
I am pretty sure that you need sda1 (or any other partition number if multiple) in that command. "sda" is the device itself, sda1 and so on are partitions.

mine USB stick only show sda on block, and when i mount with sda, it work with no issue.

i guess it all depends on how you partition the drive?

First of all, this is awesome, thank you.

Secondly I have a few questions:

I got my cable today (This one) and it seems to work. This is why I'm a little confused.
However, I have several FAT32 sticks which work great and two which don't mount on my nexus. I realize you're only supporting FAT right now. But I'm wondering why FAT32 would work in some cases and not others.

Also, any plans for full FAT32 or NTFS support? Hope so.

Thanks again.

Works FANTASTIC!

This is the cable I'm using: USB OTG Cable

I'm using stock 4.0.2 Verizon LTE Galaxy Nexus, Build ICL53F

I tried with a 2GB Kingston DataTraveler stick and a sanDisk microSD adapter with the 16GB sanDisk microSD card that came with my Motorola Droid, both worked great.

Looking forward to being able to take photos with my real digital camera, pop the card into my GNex and upload the photos!

I don't know for sure, but I imagine they won't be supporting NTFS. It's a proprietary Microsoft standard, which is why no other operating systems have stable NTFS support.

Most linux distributions come with at least the NTFS read-only module, and have for many years, as does OSX even. Despite being microsoft specific, at least in read-only form it's the most widely used format if you need the large file support you can't get with FAT32. I'm not surprised it wouldn't be in android, but if someone wants to modify/rebuild the kernel for it, it's doable, just unlikely.

There are NTFS kernel modules for Android... I've seen them. Not sure if they are device/kernel specific though, but I think so.

I might autoload/use them in a future version.

As for FAT32, that should just work. I think it's the partition layout and such which is weirdness. Will look at it.
