I want to intruduce you the app Locus. It's an excellent online/offline map viewer with many many features and rapid development. I'm just doing the promotion. All credits go to MenionAsamm2, as he is the developer.

Since a little while, Locus offers access to the app via addons. There are almost unlimited possibilities. You can find them in the market...
Currently available Addons:

*Locus - addon Map Tweak*
This tiny little tool extends the online map providers in Locus!

*Locus - addon Geocaching*
Geocaching4Locus is a simple add-on allows to show and import nearest caches to great mapping tool - Locus.

*Locus - addon AR*
Allow to show actual POI's visible on map, in Augmented reality view.

*Locus - addon Contacts*
Allow to search contact location by address in Locus and add result into points, path or wherever is location needed.

*Locus - Freemap Route Planner*
Freemap Route Planner is an addon for Locus for planning route using services from http://www.freemap.sk/.

*Locus - addon Foursquare*
This simple addon allows you to show nearby Foursquare venues (and Gowalla spots) in great mapping tool - Locus.

*Locus - addon GeoGet Database*
This addon provide connection between GeoGet database, where geocaches are saved, and Locus!

*Locus - addon Latitude History*
Do you use Latitude? And do you know, that Google stores all Latitude positions from the past? This addon provide simple viewer of Latitude History. Just pick date, Google account and type, how to show points. That's it!

Thanks, definitely there's a need for an alternative to OruxMaps, which has terrible UI (most functions as well though) .

Locus is not just an alternative

Current support of My Maps is almost unique since My Maps editor from Google not work almost on all phones.
Also ability to directly download map (for example along defined path) into shared online cache or into separate file, wide range of map providers, etc. I have also prepared My Tracks integration directly into app but I'm waiting for new version of My Tracks on market.

Okay, this is really nice I love the UI..
The only thing I'm missing a bit is the german only "hike & bike"-mapsource (http://hikebikemap.de//http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:Colin_Marquardt/Hike_%26_Bike_Map).

just wanted to tell that version 0.9.3 is on the market. and it looks like the developper can't wait to publish 0.9.4 ;-)

Thanks Nick for tip, German Hike&Bike map (but without shading) is simply added!

I actually published on Market new version. Main purpose is fixed access to Google My Maps account, mainly on android 2.1 devices. I really hope that now all will works ok!

there are also new features. Complete list of news, is as usual after application start!

Will try it next time outside with german army

One question: Is or will it be possible to navigate to coordinates?

You have to have any point to navigate on! So easiest is to go to any points category, tap bottom plus symbol and add point.

After that, you should simple click on it and choose guide on (to navigate on map with just "line" between you and target), compass (to compass screen) or navigate (to use google navigation)!

Wow, this is the best map viewer I've ever seen. Completely replaced Orux Maps for me. Thank you and keep up this great work!

Of course I will report any bugs I may encounter, logcat inclusive.

Archos 101 Tablet running Android 2.2.1

Would it be because the A101 doesn't include a GPS ?

For now it seems nice enough,
I have a HTC Tattoo running GB 2.3.2
I need some offline map viewer since I am going skiing abroad, I already use BruteAll Gmaps with world navigation enabled, I will inform you how it all works in couple of days.

I actually published new version with improved market filtering. Gps is not required for app so now is explicitely disabled this requirement. Please try to install and let me know ...
