Does the current version work on galaxy note 3 with android 4.3 (xxudmj7 rom) ?
It doesn't work for me. My phone's rooted.

What do is create a new 2nd profile, and then switching to it. It shows the waiting circle indefinitely and it does nothing.

PS: Any other alternative to this app to have multiple users?

I have the same problem, when i reboot into TWRP it shows the /data/profiles/3/ empty folder, so it copies nothing to the new one.

Running Asus Transformer TF101G, with No-Name Rom 4.2.2

Before this i had the Stock Asus rom rooted v4.0.3 and there it was running fine.

Is there a way to create a standard user (or guest) which we can then clone the profile ? because when i clone my own profile i could start in the newly created clone.

Hi,

what if i flash new version of rom (cm10.1 alpha5 to cm10.1 beta 2) will i lose all apps and profiles including my primary one?

No, as long as the android version remains the same (ie 4.2.2 or 4.4.2), the partitions will not change and you can flash without worries. I do it all the time for nightlies.

Tried it on my Lenovo S5000 4.2 tablet (for which I have root but no recovery as I cannot find one out there for it).
Created two profiles, switched to the second one, it rebooted and loaded but Superuser asked to grant a powermanagement app root which I said yes to, then nothing else loaded. No desktop, statusbar clicks don't work.

Edit:
Wiped emmc, back to above situation. Any idea what could be stopping the menus/system from opening?

Hi,
Since today I'm a switchme customer and I really like the idea!!!
After installing switchme to my note 3 international, using 4.4.2, creating and switching works really good.
But after some minutes on my mainprofile I noticed that my SwiftKey languages that i downloaded r missing!?
Could be a problem with storage management of switchme, but not really sure ;)
So I send you some interesting logs and a bootimg of the note 3, to find and fix the problem.

Thx in advance!

Forgot Password

I have not used this tablet in a while and it is logged into a different admin account. I want to log into "original" account again but I do not recall the password I set.

How do I reset the password?

Can I delete this account?

If you have a registered Samsung account for your device, you can unlock it via the Samsung Web page ;)
But only works on Samsung devices!

doesnt work on samsung s3, android 4.3

Even current version 1.5.4.3 doesn't work with Android 4.3 and Samsung phones.

on my Samsung t-mobile s3, android 4.3, when I created second profile. while first time switching it just shows busy for hours and nothing happens.
I reported this to support but no reply.
is there any setting can help?? let us know if you can figure it out.

Does this app needs SD card to be inside phone?.. which I don't have, almost 5gb phone memory is free.

Thanks!

Tested on x-note 13
Meanwhile i deleted switchme because of some bugs!
Developer did not answer to any questions, don't know if this project is still alive!?

Look at the original poster: his account is disabled. I had some questions too a posted them in their Google+ page. Don't expect an answer and if they answer it will be negative. I hope they lose all their customers very fast!

my problem was: this app creates a /data/ for every user and this works correctly. Still, there's a folder /android/ on the internal SD which developers also can use for storing things (like games use allot /android/obb/). The built in Multi-user in android is not so powerfull as Switchme but al users get their own /android/ folder too while in Switchme this is not the case. My emailclient uses this folder too. So i cannot setup thesame mailclient for 2 users with different accounts. Their answer was that this app cannot be updated for things like this, simple. So: good app, BAD company!!!

Hi,
The switchme app seems to have big problem. I try the free version. The time between switching to another profile is too long to bear. The app should not refresh so frequently when the user switch between apps. Finally I had uninstall it. They should release a stable version so users can still use it, for example creating two versions above or below android 4.4.

Btw, how many profiles all of you created with the paid version?

So I installed the app last night and created a 2nd profile. I logged in and everything worked great. I switched back to my original profile and everything seemed to be working.

However when I loaded back into switchme it shows that my 2nd profile was active but the green dot was on the 1st one. I'm actually loaded into my first profile but it somehow thinks i'm in the 2nd profile. I'm stuck on my first profile no matter how many times i try to switch or log out but somehow it thinks i'm on my 2nd profile. I can't remove either profiles because it says i don't have the admin rights.

Please let me know if anyone else is having this problem or if there's a fix.
I'm using a OnePlus One with a stock rooted rom.

Anything odd in the properties (size) of the account you are ACTUALLY in, even if the app thinks differently? I just solved the same problem, in my case disk space for profile one were all zeroes except for apps (3.45 megs)

Open a terminal window (I'm using CyanogenMod, you may have to download an app for that)

su
[Grant superuser privileges when prompted]
cd data/.profiles
ls 2
ls 1
In my case the listing for profile 1 only had one item (app)

Now the potentially dangerous part, it solved my problem but do it at your own risk. Basically we're wiping the defective profile (which will backed up again when we switch out of it, so nothing is lost) and exchange profiles 1 and 2 to reverse the app's confusion.

cd 1
rm -Rf *
cd ..
mv 1 3
mv 2 1
mv 3 2

Now force close SwitchMe if running, open it, and you should be able to switch back to the other profile.

Wish you all the best! Let me know if it works for you

    SwitchMe - share your device!

SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.

SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple user spaces just as you would on a desktop computer, with each profile having its own separate system settings, apps and data.

Some of the benefits of this technology:

    Privacy
Securely share one device among many users, protect your accounts with passwords and log out automatically.

    Kids
Create a profile for the kids, with only the apps and access you feel comfortable with.

    Gaming
Overclock your profile for maximum performance in intensive games

    Speed
Imagine a buttery smooth profile, with no kids games, messengers or bloatware to slow things down.

    Testing
Create a sandbox profile to easily test applications and themes - no more nandroid nightmares!

    Battery
Switch to a profile which only contains the essentials to save power through brute force.

    Critical usage warning:

Incorrect use of this application can potentially harm your device. Before proceeding with use we strongly recommend that you perform a full nandroid backup through the device recovery.

READ THE HELP FILE CAREFULLY TO AVOID ISSUES

Without the Key, this application allows a maximum of 2 profiles and no security features.

Only the standard Android implementation of Apps2SD is currently supported. Use all others at your own risk.

Most devices should be compatible as long as they have enough free internal memory to create secondary profiles. The application will warn users if available memory is low.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.

    Market link:

    https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.switchme

The free version allows the creation of two profiles and has no security features.

    Screens:

Seems really amazing! but sounds risky, so I will wait for feedback from others. I just hope that the switching does not take up too much time or battery for that matter.

I just tried it on Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Tab 10.1 - it works amazingly!!! Now going to make a secret private profile for my double life ;)
    8
    Adminitrator accounts
Any profile on the device can be given elevated-privelage administrator rights. These accounts have the ability to wipe all profiles from the device, or delete individual profiles. An administrator however can not switch to other password-protected accounts, only remove them or grant them administrator permissions.

Once you have granted admin rights to a profile, the owner of that profile will have the same privilages as you. You can revoke these rights from the same menu in security settings.

    Incompatibility errors
These are usually caused by Superuser installations outside /system. If you find that this error occurs inside a newly created profile, go to the market and download the Superuser app and then go back into SwitchMe. You should now be able to switch back to your original profile.

These can also be used by erroneous A2SD links in your ROM. Try another if you need this app to work.

    Custom Roms
Most stock based roms work flawlessly, some custom ones do not. We know that MIUI currently has framework glitches. CM7 and CM9 are known to work well - tested on Xoom, Xoom 2, Galaxy Nexus, Transformer 101/201/301 and Galaxy Tab 7.7/8.9/10.1, Incredible S, Sensation, Iconia tabs, Nexus 7
    8
A general to do list from user feedback (not exclusive)

    Must have
Widget like in Call Master [done]
    Encryption
    Export profiles to SD
    Location aware (probably through Tasker)

    Could use
    More detailed info
    App/data sharing
    Custom lockscreen

    Would be nice
    Support for A2SD etc [done]
    Reserve space for profiles
    4
An update has been released and should be available for download in half an hour or so. Heres the gist:

    1.0.5

    - Fixed Superuser issue (please recreate all your profiles or install Superuser from the market in all previously created profiles if this issue affected you)
    - Fixed start up crash on some 2.1 and 2.2 devices
    - Fixed many device-specific bugs
    - Reworked UI (new profile selector, new details)
    - Added more warning screens
    - Added administrator account functionality
    - Added full profile wipe

Have there been many instances of this getting stuck in a bootloop and needing a restore? I'm a bit nervous about putting it on my Prime since it doesn't have CWM yet and there's a scary usage warning.

Boot loops should only affect devices with small memory cards (and people who disregard the automatic low-memory warning the app will show). You should be fine, there is after all a recovery of some kind on the device.

What's the process of "undoing" the multiple profiles if ever needs be? I was going to look on the dev site from the market, and it's dead. Thanks. :)

We are in the process of creating a new site. To remove the profiles, use the Wipe feature in the settings of todays release.

Do you know if this will work on the Xperia Play?
