I have this turned off. It doesn't seem to affect the dump in any way. I remember to have read somewhere in this thread that it can be safely turned off, but not able to locate it. As the post linked by you says, it seems to be related to creating references but they do get created irrespective of the setting.Having recently switched from rooted LOS devices to a combination of un-rooted and rooted stock moto devices, and having seen many posts over the past few months suggesting installing an older version of BBS, I've installed BBS v2.5.341 on an unrooted Moto G Power (2020) running stock Android 11, and on an unrooted Moto G Power (2021) running stock Android 10, and set permissions via ADB. All seems well but I do have a question about the requirement to allow the persistent notification for BBS. I know that notification is required to keep the BBS Event Processing service running but I disable the notification anyhow and I've not been able to determine what I'm missing for having done so.
So, so the question is: In practical terms, what stats or app potential would be missing/lacking without the persistent notification? IE, if the notification is enabled/disabled what differences would there be in the gathered stats to reflect that change?
[EDIT] To be more specific, I don't seem to be missing the references and stats mentioned as reasons the service is required here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-2-2-05-oct-v2-4-betterbatterystats.1179809/post-80005501.
In short, you may not lose anything by its being turned off.
