I have a weird issue. First of all "Android OS" uses about 1-2MB of 3G data per hour. Secondly my mobile looks like it doesn't go to sleep state as often as it used to.
Over 8 hours of sleep my kernel wakelocks are:
"svnet" (): 1 h 13 m 29 s (4409 s) Cntc/wc/ec)3362/523/3362 14.2%
"secril_fd-interface" (): 1 h 1 m 5 s (3665 s) Cntc/wc/ec)1034/0/0 11.8%
"PowerManagerService" (): 39 m 21 s (2361 s) Cntc/wc/ec)4785/0/0 7.6%
"radio-interface" (): 35 m 36 s (2136 s) Cntc/wc/ec)2118/0/0 6.9%
"alarm_rtc" (): 13 m 11 s (791 s) Cntc/wc/ec)1223/921/410 2.5%
I read that svnet appears when 3G data is used. So to get this streight: whenever some app uses a partial wakelock to, lets say, download my tweets, this will increase both PowerManagerService kernel wakelock AND the svnet wakelock? So in fact svnet doesn't really affect my battery life since it locks only when some app is active?
Secondly, how am I going to find out which app exactly is the one that uses all that 3G data? I would love to see iftop for android and then run it and watch it till I see a connection to some weird IP moving data. And then try to figure out which app it is by the IP's whois info.
I tried to sniff data while blocking every connection but the ones of the kernel and the Android System with AFWall. It looks like the sniffing works before the packets get into the firewall though, because I was seeing many packets to twitter, gtalk etc...
Your main wakelocks are:
- TweetCaster Pro
- Maps
- MediaScannerService
- Tasker
- SleepWidget
- Gmail
- Bitcoin Ticker Widget
- Battery Monitor Widget Pro
- FolderSync (dk.tacit.android.foldersync.full)
- AdAway
- System Tuner Pro
Disable / freeze what you don't need everyday.
For Maps, there is a good description (from Karpfenhai) of how to disable its autostarts (link in post #3).
Disable your Bluetooth. Only enable it if you need it, and disable it again afterwards.
And change the FastDormancy setting on your phone. There is a FastDormancy app from gokhanmoral on Play store. Maybe it works on your phone too.
There are many alarms for Viber ... and some for Accuweather.
You should disable auto-refresh/update/sync options.
Good luck !
