I have bought a crap Chinese tablet (quite unexpensive) for my daughter, the MID7010A. Unfortunately there's no play store on it, and no play store apk I tried to download seems to work.
There is the Getjar store pre-installed, but FTL Launcher is not there.

Excuse me lowveld, but is there any news on when will there be an update with some of the requests? I think I know why it's taking so long for the update, you are trying to make it as good as it can be and not slow it down at the same time. I respect your way of doing things.
The only thing I would change is that it reloads every widget every time I hit an application and get out of it after writing a message or load a website or something. Is there a way to keep the widgets in memory?

Rest assured that this is not forgotten. The thing is, there are no major bugs to be fixed, so I'm left with improvements, and all of them quite tricky.
Lately I've been spendimg more time with Ultimate Call Screen HD, as it is more "immature" and needed constant watching over. As it now reached a fairly stable state (such as FTL did with version 3.1.1), I will have more time for FTL. I promise that this weekend I'll give a shot at individual icon theming, and will give you feedback on how it goes. But bare in mind that it could go bad...
Thanks Oly, you are right in principle. But in this case there really is no harm done, the only reason he can't get the apk himself is bad luck. Also the Lite version is freely available, so anyone can download it any way they choose to.
I only ask for fellow XDAers to ask permission before including in on ROMs, as it is the polite thing to do.

Typically you can access it from the menu key, but apparently some devices don't have it.
Never thought of this... Let me see if I can give you a quick fix...

FTL updated to V3.1.2 - Added FTL settings to App Drawer

This is a very minor upgrade, just to address people that cannot find FTL settings due to lack of "menu" button on some new ICS devices.
With this version, an Icon for FTL will appear on the app drawer, which will take you to FTL settings. Note that this does not start the launcher, you still have to use the "normal" procedure for changing the default home app.
Update should be available soon on Google Play, I already uploaded it but they take a while to propagate the app through their servers.

I can not get this app to work on my EVO3d what so ever. Running ics, opened the settings from app drawer app to disable 3d draw to see if that was it but still every time I hit home and select ftl it force closes. Yet to see a home screen.....

Another thing, if you are running ICS, the 3D drawer is not available, and the option to enable/disable it does not appear on FTL settings.
If you do see that option, you somehow managed to install the GB version of FTL, which would surely FC exactly the way you mentioned.
Did you install from market? Did you mod the google play app to fool the market? Did you restore FTL from titanium backup from a GB rom?

Didn't see any updates since then, at least nothing significant. I really admire your work, I do, but you should be more upfront with us. If you want to work more on Ultimate Call Screen HD, it's ok, but don't say anything about any updates or getting back to work on FTL if you don't. Any info on the progress would be appreciated. I'm grateful for all the work you put into this launcher and I wouldn't like to see it go to waste, like LauncherPro.
I hope you won't be offended, I just wanted to speak my mind on this matter.

I'm not offended, and you are completely right. A couple of weeks ago I said I would work on FTL an post here any progress, and I failed to do so, that's my bad, should not have happened.
What happened was that I tried to recode the dock, make it scrolling and way more configurable. Unfortunately I failed miserably. So, still on the works.
I don't dedicate more time to UCS than to FTL nowadays. You see more UCS updates because the app is much more easy to code an add stuff. As I use standard SDK to code UCS, I can do it pretty much anywhere I have one of my laptops. To compile FTL, I need the complete android source code, not the SDK, and I can do it only at my workstation at home.
Anyway, enough of excuses. I haven't abandoned FTL an will not abandon it. I use it daily and I am acutely aware of the stuff that can/should be improved. I won't give timelines on updates, but I do ask you to believe that when I say I'm working on it, I really am.
