I was just clarifying a point of language. As to your suggestion (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74786734&postcount=22538), wait and see what HootanParsa says, and don't be discouraged that you've not gotten an answer yet. It is common for HP to be away from the thread for periods of time.
Yes np.
That was just my bad on english comprehension.

I know that Hootan hasn't been here too & honestly I don't wanna push him too to implement it because I have already known from you, the function of allow root in setting is the same :)

I've set MiX to show hidden folders, but discovered one it doesn't show: .android_secure
Built-in file manager displays it. I realize this is not an important folder but I'm curious why MiX isn't displaying it.

There is something unique about that folder (perhaps its legacy of use for apps moved to external SD in older Android versions), and or some limitation of MTP regarding it.

When I was trying to delete .android_secure from SD cards in preparation for a particular ROM upgrade, I had to insert the SD cards as USB drive on computer (mass storage rather than MTP). It turned out that the folder got recreated anyway when clean flashing LOS 14.1 with clean external SD cards so I now leave it (and it remains empty).

In LOS 14.1/N 7.1.2, although the folder cannot be seen in MiX or TC or Files, or via USB MTP with Android OS running; it can be seen in TWRP’s file manager on device and through USB connection to computer (Linux Ubuntu w/ADB installed) while TWRP is running.

Thanks for the excuse to play with this, it's been a while... and this incidentally revealed a workaround to MTP (MTP is even more dreadful on Linux than Windows. Eeek).

The log indicates that the device is rooted and using busybox (custom version) but then it says Permission denied. It might be worth testing a clean install of MiX while reviewing the "Do this stuff first" section of this FAQ post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65157294&postcount=1, just to run through the various first time permissions prompts.

i tried via data/media/0/ and it works. Thanks
Glad to here it. The issue arises, usually, when files or folders get copied and get root:root ownership. Somehow you initially copied those files using a non-standard methodology.
Because /storage/emulated gets mounted using the fuse filesystem you won't be able to delete them via that path (or /sdcard), even as root. They need media_rw ownership. The fact that they're mounted via fuse is also why you can't change permissions via that path.
Using the /data/media path you're accessing the files via a 'normal' filesystem so root will allow deletion no matter the ownership. Or you can change ownership and try accessing via the normal path again. Usually easier to just flash osm0sis' zip, which will also fix the file security context if necessary (at least if you want to keep the files but are having trouble accessing them).

@Hootan Parsa, Again the latest version of the app does not know how to change the encoding when viewing the html format (if you try to change the encoding it wouldn't change). When opening a mht/mhtml changing encoding works as it should.

Some google drive bugs

I wanted to point out some issues I have been facing in this app for long time, but always was bit reluctant whether post it here or not. :p

I am using Xiomei Mi Max 2 Phone.

There are some issues with Google drive:

  • I am not able to move multiple files and folder within the shared folder in Google drive. The task always fails somehow even though I have full right and edit access in Share setting.
  • I am not able to stream long duration Gdrive videos smoothly with Mixplorer. Buffering always abruptly stops after a few minutes, and if you try to seek the video or jump at the timestamp like 30 or 40 mins then the video stops playing altogether and I have to restart Mixplorer again to play another video.

I am able perform the same task with ease with Es Xplorer.

First time user here. I created an EncFS, but I want it to ask for a password EVERY time I open it.

Right now it seems to remember the password until I reboot, correct?

You can log out or unmount ( depending whether it's local or external / remote filesystem ) from the menu when you're done, and next time it will ask for the password again.

Hootan loves when people mention 20 bugs, 30 other file managers where features work and 0 logs. Please guys, be helpful if you want help, he needs to replicate the environment and conditions in order to reproduce the issue and hopefully fix it.
In Build 6.54.6. I've been having significant issues with opening files in ImageViewer (cbz/cbr/cb7/zip, etc) in SMB in Mixplorer. It would load for minutes and sometimes would not load up the images at all, but would time out. I have tested this with many files and only 1 file loaded properly after much delay.

Build 6.53.5 did not have this issue and reverting back to that version + SMB addon resolves the issue. The same files that struggled for minutes in 6.54.6 loaded instantly in 6.53.5.

    Is anyone having similar issues?

Edit: Can confirm no issues in Build 6.54.1 + SMB addon. Could it be related to the SMB being deprecated or the CBZ update in 6.54.4?
Edit: CBZ, CBT, CB7 are 10x faster with the latest BETA. If there is a new problem, please let me know.
Yerp, that's another thing people will get on you for (including me, somebody just beat me to it :)). But seriously, in an app with as many features and configuration options not everything may be intuitive. You might want to check out the FAQ, in particular the "Nuggets" section (links to standalone individual short topics, eg servers, etc, and maybe stuff about the UI (season to taste). While exploring long press is your friend.
Haha, thanks IronTechmonkey, it was I myself who beat you to it :giggle: - Thanks, yeah the nuggets are useful, I previously read about the bookmark rename feature but forgot it was there lol. Fair point, the dev has done a good job cramming all that versatility in, def not complaining.

In terms of what I am testing, some people may not be familiar with EDS, but it is a long term bit of android software kept alive by a great dev, and can handle VeraCrypt(R), TrueCrypt(R), LUKS, EncFs, CyberSafe(R) container types (http://www.sovworks.com/). Since running non-root phones it lost some of its attraction as you lose the ability to 'mount' those containers, but using this method through the MiX Document Provider setting means you can gain similar benefits (and more - ftp for example), so genuinely excited about it as been waiting for a few years for something to come along that can work reliably with it.

When I get a sec, I'll write up a short rundown of my setup on how I'm attempting to use EDS with MiX through the document provider (versions, settings, etc) so others can have a play.
    Hi all,

Thanks Ironmonkey, certainly not my intention to sound insistent or presumptuous, my aim was to contribute and help improve the app. As you say my post was more an initial walkthrough of observations insofar as a specific request to fix anything as yet - I thought someone else might be attempting to use EDS with MiX as per my use case and having similar experiences.

In 6.54.7 there appears to be a HUGE improvement in stability with the Document Provider over 6.53.5, and can I say to marcozomb13's comment that no other file manager I have tested does this properly, not Xplore, not Solid....(they can't even connect to EDS). FX did it ok, but MiX has now surpassed it .... As of 6.54.7 MiX is at the forefront in what is possible in this area (interacting with an EDS opened container through the document provider). It even generates image thumbnails from the opened EDS container which FX doesn't (though sadly not video thumbnails).

Re: my two feature suggestions, I think they might already be implemented (so feel sheepish!):
    - I am still testing, though on first glance it seems to allow running the FTP server from the EDS base directory - will further test and confirm if it has any issues serving or updating files
@rsngfrce - thank you. Yes I realised that myself also overnight when further tinkering with the bookmarks. You can swipe right and rename / remove them (good, but not intuitive from a UI perspective for a user who doesn't know this is possible, maybe a menu on long press, or edit bookmarks button would be more obvious? - don't shoot me down I like the right swipe just saying if you don't know its there it's not obvious)

RE: the USB auto removing when unplugged issue, I now also realise that use case is slightly different. I guess for USB you want an unplugged device to remove the bookmark. For EDS though, now that the bookmark doesn't become 'disconnected' between uses I kind of like having a permanent bookmark in MiX I can click on to quickly access the EDS container when it is opened.

I take everyone's point about logs and agree, and will certainly be in a position to provide some targeted logs and write smaller posts :) once I confirm if indeed some of the things I am observing are indeed bugs, or just user ignorance lol. Some of them could be EDS issues also as I am testing the interaction between that software after all.

Thanks to all for your consideration.
    Some quick fire results.

Just tested with 6.54.7 and it looks very promising - huge improvements well done dev!!!

Some further observations, re issues in my long post:

    1) This now works .. able to see subfolder files perfectly no issues in mounted EDS container, and very fast!
    2) Document bookmarks still stick... still have to reset data to remove them
    3) I tested what happens if you close MiXplorer --> close and reopen the EDS container --> then reopen MiX
    - I tried connecting to a subfolder bookmark .... this doesn't survive the above, says folder can't be found
    - Bookmark to the base of the EDS container does survive ... means you can open a EDS container and click on a shortcut in Bookmarks to access it between EDS uses (havent tested between reboots)
    4) I havent been able to corrupt data, even clicking on stale bookmarks this time.
    Further observations:

    - Read write appears to work for the most part, although pasting files between 2 folders on the connected document provider says operation failed (but still works successfully - got to go out of the target folder and back in to see the files)
    - Deleting a folder with files fails (as per FX), though deleting the files within the folder first then allows you to delete the folder.

Other than that looks promising - will test copying some larger files and see how reliable it is.

    Some further suggestions:
    - Would be good if we could rename the Document Provider bookmarks (and remove them of course as per 2 above - which goes for USB too I would guess)
    - How cool would it be if MiX could allow an FTP root from the connected Document Provider base folder? - that would be a killer feature, combined with EDS can expose an encrypted container from your phone (before anyone asks, already tried it with a built in encFS container in 6.53.5 and it didnt allow it...)

I have updated the XDA version of MiXplorer (The Standard). If there is a new problem, please let me know. Thank you.

I see Google Play has replied to one of my old messages and apologized for delay response. Only 4 months delay! :) I'm sure there are great and professional people working in Play team and they're doing their best but I really can't bother myself to contact them anymore.
I won't push the publish button for the Silver version which is finally reviewed after 2 days but shared with pirate websites some hours before that. I'm uploading another build as an app bundle and as you should know no one has access except Play team as always. I hope they will do their best.
I finally experienced Android 11 and its scoped storage on a real phone. What a crap! The Android media scanner wasn't enough!
I published multiple experimental builds with target SDK 30 and 'MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE' permission before but I found some issues on emulator which are not reproducible on my device and I didn't know there is a huge difference on performance. So I will change the target to 30 with 'MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE' for the stable and beta versions.
For the Silver version, I improved the performance as much as possible but as you should know Google Play doesn't allow 'MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE' permission, so there is nothing I can do about it for now.
Oh please let's stop with all this indignation about what is a relatively small issue which occurred only recently and about which we've not yet heard from the developer since it was reported just a few days ago. Statements about how the app cannot be used if it's this way or how could it possibly have been left in this absolutely world ending horrible condition don't help. It's been reported and other people who don't even care tested and gave a +1. Now would be an appropriate time to wait for a developer response, and to do so knowing that they are sometimes away from the thread for a while.
There is a leak in Play console and store services and people still have access to the apps that are not published. It is completely unacceptable. Users have contacted me about this and even insulted me for the late publish while it's accessible from pirate websites and this is Play team who is responsible for that. It's happening for a very long time and they haven't done anything about it. I have contacted them long before and they said they're not responsible. Probably Aliens are! :)
Thanks to @EuK_V for the investigation.
As many of you already know, some days ago I updated the Silver version which has many problems because Google is insisting we should build App Bundle instead of APK. So I finally did it but I didn't know it's going to modify the manifest for so called 'optimization' and change the default value of 'extractNativeLibs' to false which makes so much problems in this app. After some minutes I found out what's the problem and as Google document says I should add a Gradle option 'android.bundle.enableUncompressedNativeLibs=false' to prevent it. I'm still not 100% sure that it's going to work but I did and uploaded the new build to Play console. It was an important update because many lovely users got angry and started giving 1 star or contacting me and reporting issues one after another. I'm mentally under pressure since then and waiting for Play to review the app. But 1 day passed and not only they didn't, instead they searched around to find an irrelevant issue to reject the update. They sent me a message and told me there is an issue with some words inside the description of the app. The description which they have reviewed some hundred times during years. Check the screenshot. They had problem with this "area":
'Html viewer which supports MHT, Markdown, AXml, CHM, MAFF and...'.
So I rather to remove them and saved it for the review but another day passed and nothing except that my app is already on many websites. I built an app bundle and uploaded only to Play console but it's now all over the web as an APK with my signature and lovely users are sending feedback about it while it's not even reviewed by Google Play! I'm mentally so tired. I really can't contact Play developer support team anymore. Because I know they're busy and can't help or even answer me. The last time I contacted was the last year. There was an error in Play Console saying there is an issue with your developer account and I sent many messages to both Play console and Google Pay asking why can't users pay for the app and what is the error about but they never answered me. But they answered to every single buyers and told them that developer is responsible for that. No selling for 2 months. I just kept reading documents and sending messages and personal documents to their bots I guess until the Pay button got activated.
If they review the app, I'm not sure if I should publish the app this time. I need an official and professional answer to this question that how is it possible that the app which I've uploaded only to Play console is all over the web and signed with my signature? Is there any other section in Google company I can contact about this issue?
