These are issues that never seemed to have been resolved. Here's the answer: the issue has to do with the Download Manager being blocked by AFWall+ only if the Xposed module is enabled. As such, it can be resolved without any side effects by disabling the AFWall+ Xposed module in your Xposed Manager. Source: https://github.com/ukanth/afwall/issues/903

This has been mentioned before, but I couldn't find a solution for it. On basically every 6.xx.x version I've tried, when I press the Download button in About -> Update, I'm getting a toast stating UPDATE java.lang.Integer cannot be cast to java.lang.Long. After several minutes, an Android notification shows, stating <Untitled> Download unsuccessful..

I tried downloading the APK's in the JSON file at mixplorer.com/latest manually (for example https://mixplorer.com/latest/MiXSMB_B2006281.apk), but they always redirect back to the JSON file.

Currently running 6.49.3 now via attached APK in first post
LineageOS 16 (Android 9)
After un/reinstall of AFWall+ update/download worked. Must've been a residual setting in AFWall causing problems.

Sent from my SHT-W09 using XDA Labs
Something similar just happened on one of my devices while attempting to manually update MiXplorer XDA stable 6.33.7 to 6.33.8 through native update feature. Nothing would happen when update was tapped until Afwall+ was disabled briefly. After re-enabling Afwall then MiXplorer could still detect the update. This is odd because MiXplorer has a full pass through both firewall and VPN as to do the requisite OS services and I did not find anything in the AFwall+ logs. Also, on different device with same combination of firewall and VPN MiXplorer XDA stable 6.2 8.3 was able to find the update. This bears a similarity to a recently discussed Afwall issue, but whatever it is seems to affect only this MiX update.

Also, @HootanParsa, file send via native OS BT seems to be fixed; Tested good on MiX XDA stable and Playstore Silver 6.33.8.

That also did not work for me, you could try the full root/data/media/0/ location as that worked

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this but didn't have the media/ folder under /root/data/.

Turns out "allow root" had turned itself off in my MiXplorer settings

Now "allow root" is turned back on MiXplorer is working as it did under Android 10 :p :D

Having a problem with SFTP and private keys

I'm using Mixplorer version6.49.3

I'm having trouble setting up access to my desktop via SFTP using private keys. I've created my keys (RSA) and placed the path to them in the relevant advanced settings.but I keep getting an error. First mixplorer display a request to confirm key. Algorithm: EdDSA with an MD5 checksum, which I confirm and then I get the error "Attempt to invoke virtual method 'void java.io.InputStream.mark(int) on a null object reference"

Am I using the wrong type of key? I've seen other post with people using RSA keys mine were created using openssh ssh-keygen.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, can you add the MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission to the app? I haven't access to /data/data content in Android 11

I can't get any explorer to show what's in /data/data, I think it's an Android 11 limitation.

If you really want to see what's inside that folder, or need to get something from there, one can use Tasker or Termux. In termux for example, su, cd /data/data, ls ... will show up what's inside

as I said to the poster, the answer is in this thread, and not too many pages back. I had the same problem and found the answer. I say to read the thread, as I cant remember the exact details, but its simply switching an option on in Magisk, and then the contents will be visible.

I think that could be the answer @DiamondJohn is referring to:

The trick could be switching "Mount namespace mode" in magisk manager to "Global namespace". That is working for several users but if you search for "data/data" in this thread you'll find out that it seems not to be a solution for everyone.

I found what I think is a bug with the text editor. If I open a large file (5471 lines) only 35% of the file initially loads, as indicated by the progress bar at the bottom of the screen. If I tap the 3 dot menu and then tap "Go to...", the progress bar at the bottom of the screen fills up to 100%, yet the slider on the "Go to" menu only goes up to line 2543. If I goto that line, the progress bar at the bottom of the screen decreases to 89%. If I then tap the 3 dot menu and then tap "Go to..." again, the dot on the slider is set to a little past the 50% point and the line number is 3134. If I slide the dot to the right, which to me should indicate a higher line number, the line number actually decreases to 2383. Tapping the "Go" button doesn't move the screen at all.

I found another post that seems to describe a related issue: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83262631&postcount=1210

I can post screenshots if the above description is unclear.

Thank you

You should really remove that email unless you want to be signed up to all kinds of weird sites/get all kinds of dumb emails. NEVER post your email or other private details publically.

Simply ask your questions here instead, plenty of knowledgeable users here that can answer them

Bug / feature in file reaming

Multiple file renaming has a powerful feature for renumbering but I find very annoying that the first file is renamed without the numbering scheme :
  • a
  • b
  • c
With a scheme of '%01d' and a starting number 2 gets renamed:
  • New
  • New2
  • New3

I think this should be changed to have the first file with the starting number, not the second...

Any comments on this behavior?

Edit : title was 'renaming' of course

Ok, thanks, that works for me. I'll just put it back to inherited after use.

I think my brain needs rest. I will come back soon. :)
Let's experience the scoped storage with this build.
I had to search million lines of codes in all libraries I'm using for the methods which make the app slow because of this masterpiece (SS) and its high level of programming.
Add > Document provider > Find and select every single default folder in the root of storage, if it's allowed by the Center.
It's all for our security and privacy for sure as the Center says but I personally rather to turn off my phone and hide under the bed. :)
Imagine the Police comes to your property and says we thought your doors are open to everyone. Are they?! Yes, people come inside, do whatever they want and then leave. So for your protection, security, privacy, whatever, you must gain permission from us to use your every single room. What about my warehouse? Forget that one! Bathroom is also gonna be locked and since now you have to use the common public bathroom under our protection.
    Thank you Police! 😽
    Hi all,

Thanks Ironmonkey, certainly not my intention to sound insistent or presumptuous, my aim was to contribute and help improve the app. As you say my post was more an initial walkthrough of observations insofar as a specific request to fix anything as yet - I thought someone else might be attempting to use EDS with MiX as per my use case and having similar experiences.

In 6.54.7 there appears to be a HUGE improvement in stability with the Document Provider over 6.53.5, and can I say to marcozomb13's comment that no other file manager I have tested does this properly, not Xplore, not Solid....(they can't even connect to EDS). FX did it ok, but MiX has now surpassed it .... As of 6.54.7 MiX is at the forefront in what is possible in this area (interacting with an EDS opened container through the document provider). It even generates image thumbnails from the opened EDS container which FX doesn't (though sadly not video thumbnails).

Re: my two feature suggestions, I think they might already be implemented (so feel sheepish!):
    - I am still testing, though on first glance it seems to allow running the FTP server from the EDS base directory - will further test and confirm if it has any issues serving or updating files
@rsngfrce - thank you. Yes I realised that myself also overnight when further tinkering with the bookmarks. You can swipe right and rename / remove them (good, but not intuitive from a UI perspective for a user who doesn't know this is possible, maybe a menu on long press, or edit bookmarks button would be more obvious? - don't shoot me down I like the right swipe just saying if you don't know its there it's not obvious)

RE: the USB auto removing when unplugged issue, I now also realise that use case is slightly different. I guess for USB you want an unplugged device to remove the bookmark. For EDS though, now that the bookmark doesn't become 'disconnected' between uses I kind of like having a permanent bookmark in MiX I can click on to quickly access the EDS container when it is opened.

I take everyone's point about logs and agree, and will certainly be in a position to provide some targeted logs and write smaller posts :) once I confirm if indeed some of the things I am observing are indeed bugs, or just user ignorance lol. Some of them could be EDS issues also as I am testing the interaction between that software after all.

Thanks to all for your consideration.
As IronTechmonkey already somewhat said, I would say the greatest disadvantage to MiX is that it isn't always intuitive or obvious, but it is very powerful and customizable for those who actually enjoy messing around with it, to personalize it and see what it is capable of, as much as just using it as a file explorer. That is why there is a whole separate FAQ thread. 😄

I don't know what the generally accepted behavior is when unplugging a USB drive, but my USB drive shortcut persists in MiX when unplugged and I prefer it that way. I believe it is removed in Solid Explorer.
Edit: CBZ, CBT, CB7 are 10x faster with the latest BETA. If there is a new problem, please let me know.
Everything looks good with 6.54.8 build. CBZ/CB7 files load up extremely fast, significantly faster than any past builds. Thank you!

I have updated the XDA version of MiXplorer (The Standard). If there is a new problem, please let me know. Thank you.

I see Google Play has replied to one of my old messages and apologized for delay response. Only 4 months delay! :) I'm sure there are great and professional people working in Play team and they're doing their best but I really can't bother myself to contact them anymore.
I won't push the publish button for the Silver version which is finally reviewed after 2 days but shared with pirate websites some hours before that. I'm uploading another build as an app bundle and as you should know no one has access except Play team as always. I hope they will do their best.
I finally experienced Android 11 and its scoped storage on a real phone. What a crap! The Android media scanner wasn't enough!
I published multiple experimental builds with target SDK 30 and 'MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE' permission before but I found some issues on emulator which are not reproducible on my device and I didn't know there is a huge difference on performance. So I will change the target to 30 with 'MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE' for the stable and beta versions.
For the Silver version, I improved the performance as much as possible but as you should know Google Play doesn't allow 'MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE' permission, so there is nothing I can do about it for now.
Oh please let's stop with all this indignation about what is a relatively small issue which occurred only recently and about which we've not yet heard from the developer since it was reported just a few days ago. Statements about how the app cannot be used if it's this way or how could it possibly have been left in this absolutely world ending horrible condition don't help. It's been reported and other people who don't even care tested and gave a +1. Now would be an appropriate time to wait for a developer response, and to do so knowing that they are sometimes away from the thread for a while.
There is a leak in Play console and store services and people still have access to the apps that are not published. It is completely unacceptable. Users have contacted me about this and even insulted me for the late publish while it's accessible from pirate websites and this is Play team who is responsible for that. It's happening for a very long time and they haven't done anything about it. I have contacted them long before and they said they're not responsible. Probably Aliens are! :)
Thanks to @EuK_V for the investigation.
As many of you already know, some days ago I updated the Silver version which has many problems because Google is insisting we should build App Bundle instead of APK. So I finally did it but I didn't know it's going to modify the manifest for so called 'optimization' and change the default value of 'extractNativeLibs' to false which makes so much problems in this app. After some minutes I found out what's the problem and as Google document says I should add a Gradle option 'android.bundle.enableUncompressedNativeLibs=false' to prevent it. I'm still not 100% sure that it's going to work but I did and uploaded the new build to Play console. It was an important update because many lovely users got angry and started giving 1 star or contacting me and reporting issues one after another. I'm mentally under pressure since then and waiting for Play to review the app. But 1 day passed and not only they didn't, instead they searched around to find an irrelevant issue to reject the update. They sent me a message and told me there is an issue with some words inside the description of the app. The description which they have reviewed some hundred times during years. Check the screenshot. They had problem with this "area":
'Html viewer which supports MHT, Markdown, AXml, CHM, MAFF and...'.
So I rather to remove them and saved it for the review but another day passed and nothing except that my app is already on many websites. I built an app bundle and uploaded only to Play console but it's now all over the web as an APK with my signature and lovely users are sending feedback about it while it's not even reviewed by Google Play! I'm mentally so tired. I really can't contact Play developer support team anymore. Because I know they're busy and can't help or even answer me. The last time I contacted was the last year. There was an error in Play Console saying there is an issue with your developer account and I sent many messages to both Play console and Google Pay asking why can't users pay for the app and what is the error about but they never answered me. But they answered to every single buyers and told them that developer is responsible for that. No selling for 2 months. I just kept reading documents and sending messages and personal documents to their bots I guess until the Pay button got activated.
If they review the app, I'm not sure if I should publish the app this time. I need an official and professional answer to this question that how is it possible that the app which I've uploaded only to Play console is all over the web and signed with my signature? Is there any other section in Google company I can contact about this issue?
