First of all, I wanted to thank you guys. Especially Dash Hootane aziz. I love MiXplorer.
I have just a little problem. When i try to set a MP3 file as Alarm or Ringtone, it fails and goes to the "App Info" of MiXplorer (where you can force stop, clear data or uninstall or...)
I want to change the default alarm tone. In the past it used to be done via "es" file manager.
Best Regards

I'm unable to confirm this issue. I can set both, ogg and mp3, as ringtone via MiXplorer. Please refer to attached screenshots that I took a few minutes ago. Might it be an issue with your ROM?

Request. When pinning a file in the "All files" page, make it stick to the top of that page for easier access. Currently, the app will only pin that file at the top of its folder location.

More features = more possibility of bugs/ errors = more complicated and time consuming to maintain and update = more memory and battery usage = bad user experience.

I think MiXplorer should just stick with its core functionality - Managing Files & Storage. Where a feature drifts away from the core functionality of an app - I think such features should be best left for apps that are made specifically for that purpose, e.g. Music Player. Alternatively, those features must be part of an add-on, instead of building it inside the main app.

Between an app that is extremely capable of performing its core functionality, and doing it better than any other app, and an app that is an all-in-one solution but no better than competing apps, I would always choose the former. In other words, focus should be on quality of performance rather than quantity of features.

Currently, MiXplorer has quite a few bugs and priority should be in resolving those and improving it further as a FILE MANAGER!

This is frequently discussed and you are not alone. Nor are the people on the other side of the debate alone although I share your view.

Also, apart from concerns about bugs, the MiXplorer base app has a small resource footprint and so can be used on old and low memory devices. That is one of the benefits of the add-on model as opposed to an all-in-one model.

As to MiXplorer having "quite a few bugs"; During an active phase of development such as we've been in recently, more bugs would be expected but also, some reports seem to be usage/configuration issues or feature requests as opposed to problems. I'm not dismissing or minimizing your reports but if we look at the universe of reported problems in Mix stable the pile of actual bugs may not be that big, although I agree with you that those bugs should go to the front of the line.

You mentioned that in the past you could use ES. The past is not the present so you might want to confirm that again if you've not done so recently (to @Oswald Boelcke's point about possible OS issues). Along the same lines, can you assign either file type as ringtone from the operating system's native ringtone picker? Are all other things equal; such as the sound files being on the same drive or in the same folder? Some of those basic things might be answered in a log that captures an attempt to use Mix to assign each of the file types as ringtone.

I think there should be a separate thread for feature requests and bug reporting. This will make it easier for the developer to view and address the more important/ urgent comments - bug reports (with or without logs) in this case.

Native ringtone picker has a very poor implementation on some devices, such as OnePlus devices. The native picker simply lists all the music files and it is a pain to go through the whole list each time.

Ideally, the sound picker should allow the user to browse his internal storage using built-in file manager or another file manager, so the user can go directly to the folder (usually the Ringtones folder) and pick the sound he/ she wants, so the whole process becomes much faster and efficient.

But often, we don't understand what the developent team was thinking when they designed their products.

HP seems fine with feature requests (some of which really do push the app forward) and other troubleshooting together in this thread.

For other things (such as extensive side discussions which slip off topic;)) we already have the FAQ.

Pretty sure HP would lose track of several feature requests due to obvious reasons.

I think XDA should allow for 3 tags within every thread:
1. Bug reporting
2. Feature requests
3. Help & General Discussions

When a user posts a comment, he should also be forced to choose one of the above tags.

All participants, especially the creator of the thread, should then be able to filter out comments that fall into one of the above categories. If a bug has been addressed or a feature has been implemented, the creator should then be able to 'mark' it as solved, which then gets a separate tag of its own called 'Solved'.

That way huge threads such as this one will be much more easier to navigate and the creator will have a much easier time getting to comments that help him make his product better.

That's a discussion for another thread regarding XDA in general -- good idea, though, very good. This is a development thread for MiX, and both bug reports and feature requests fall squarely into development. It is precisely its purpose. For general questions and help, there's the FAQ thread, exactly for that too.

hi there,
regarding SFTP storage, my username on the SFTP server contains AT (@ symbol), exactly like that

on Linux my connection string looks like this and it works

Code:
sftp -R 256 -B 15000 -C [email protected]@the.server.com

will MiXplorer work for that server? Now I always receive "not authenticated", and it's unclear for me whether it is because it incorrectly parses the username with at, or because I missed some other setting.

I would be really happy to be a part of development and to be used as a free beta-testing platform, but unfortunately I want a working device and want to spend my own time for my own life rather than for someone's development.

To be clear; no one here has criticized you for preferring a stable installation and not wanting to spend time troubleshooting (and the information you've provided about version numbers is informative) but...The developer whose work you use has their own life as do the people who test and report. If you don't want to test, that's fine but then don't backhandedly insult those who do make time for development and testing by implying that doing so is to not have other responsibilities no less important than yours.

    Hello guys,

I've been using mixplorer since Android 8.
It was working great in everything I needed until Android 10... Unfortunately, the last week, when I upgraded from 10 to 11, I lost USB OTG recognition. I also tried enabling the special driver you offer in the settings but that was good only for viewing the USB OTG's content, because i couldn't copy, cut and generally modify the USB OTG's files...
Is there anything I can do to fix my problem or it's just an app-related bug?

    Thanks in advance!
    Hi,
Disable the custom driver. Tap on ADD > Document provider > Find and select the USB drive.

Please try again and send me the log file from the Main menu > 'Send log'. Not a random log. Thank you.
    Sorry, next try ...

Edit: same behavior with Version: 6.54.4-BETA B21041310

I was originally selecting "HTML Viewer" when I tapped on the file.

But "archive" is not listed in the first pop-up dialog, so I had to select "open as..." in that first dialog that appears, then select "Archive" in the second pop-up, then select "HTML Viewer" in the third dialog and then it did display the webpage properly.

That is kind of non-intuitive to do that process, so I hope I will remember that THREE step process in the future.
If I download a web page with a Chromium browser on Android, for some reason it is saved with no file extension. If I click on that with MiX, the Open As menu comes up. If I select Archive, then the HTML Viewer is not an option. If I select Text, I can then open it with the HTML Viewer.

I don't know why this works differently for me, unless the Chromium file is different than the Internet Explorer 11 file. If I add a MHT or MHTML extension to the Chromium file and click on it with MiX, I directly get the Open With menu with HTML Viewer as an option.

MHT files are in fact archive files because they contain all the images and other support files like CSS that the HTML webpage needs in that same archive. The MHT archive process then modifies all the links in the main HTML page so they will instead point to these local copies of the images and css files instead of them linking to their original external (online) sources. This way, with a proper MHT viewer, the webpage can be later displayed even if those external files are no longer available online.

When you save a webpage in chromium, I'm guess it just saves the HTML code of that one page and leaves all the links as-is so they still point to online resources. And viewing this file right away will display the webpage the same as when you first saved it. The problem with this method is that if you are offline or if one or more of the external reference of that page no longer exists online, the displayed webpage will be corrupt/missing parts of it when you try to display it at a later date. You can test this theory out by saving a webpage in chromium, then turn your phone offline (airplane mode) and then clear your browser's cache (so any shadows of those files are erased), then try to open that webpage file - it will probably be missing all of the images in that page and the format of that page may be messed up because that webpage requires access to those external links, but they are being blocked by airplane mode.

So, if you save a webpage in chromium, and then try to view it years later, it will probably be all messed up because one or more of the external files no longer exist.

But with an MHT file, the webpage will appear just like it originally did because all of the externally referenced files were included in the archive, so it doesn't need any external files anymore.

As far as I know, only Internet Explorer can make MHT files (using the "Save as..." dialog).

I have updated the XDA version of MiXplorer (The Standard). If there is a new problem, please let me know. Thank you.

I see Google Play has replied to one of my old messages and apologized for delay response. Only 4 months delay! :) I'm sure there are great and professional people working in Play team and they're doing their best but I really can't bother myself to contact them anymore.
I won't push the publish button for the Silver version which is finally reviewed after 2 days but shared with pirate websites some hours before that. I'm uploading another build as an app bundle and as you should know no one has access except Play team as always. I hope they will do their best.
    19
I finally experienced Android 11 and its scoped storage on a real phone. What a crap! The Android media scanner wasn't enough!
I published multiple experimental builds with target SDK 30 and 'MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE' permission before but I found some issues on emulator which are not reproducible on my device and I didn't know there is a huge difference on performance. So I will change the target to 30 with 'MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE' for the stable and beta versions.
For the Silver version, I improved the performance as much as possible but as you should know Google Play doesn't allow 'MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE' permission, so there is nothing I can do about it for now.
    17
Oh please let's stop with all this indignation about what is a relatively small issue which occurred only recently and about which we've not yet heard from the developer since it was reported just a few days ago. Statements about how the app cannot be used if it's this way or how could it possibly have been left in this absolutely world ending horrible condition don't help. It's been reported and other people who don't even care tested and gave a +1. Now would be an appropriate time to wait for a developer response, and to do so knowing that they are sometimes away from the thread for a while.
    14
As many of you already know, some days ago I updated the Silver version which has many problems because Google is insisting we should build App Bundle instead of APK. So I finally did it but I didn't know it's going to modify the manifest for so called 'optimization' and change the default value of 'extractNativeLibs' to false which makes so much problems in this app. After some minutes I found out what's the problem and as Google document says I should add a Gradle option 'android.bundle.enableUncompressedNativeLibs=false' to prevent it. I'm still not 100% sure that it's going to work but I did and uploaded the new build to Play console. It was an important update because many lovely users got angry and started giving 1 star or contacting me and reporting issues one after another. I'm mentally under pressure since then and waiting for Play to review the app. But 1 day passed and not only they didn't, instead they searched around to find an irrelevant issue to reject the update. They sent me a message and told me there is an issue with some words inside the description of the app. The description which they have reviewed some hundred times during years. Check the screenshot. They had problem with this "area":
'Html viewer which supports MHT, Markdown, AXml, CHM, MAFF and...'.
So I rather to remove them and saved it for the review but another day passed and nothing except that my app is already on many websites. I built an app bundle and uploaded only to Play console but it's now all over the web as an APK with my signature and lovely users are sending feedback about it while it's not even reviewed by Google Play! I'm mentally so tired. I really can't contact Play developer support team anymore. Because I know they're busy and can't help or even answer me. The last time I contacted was the last year. There was an error in Play Console saying there is an issue with your developer account and I sent many messages to both Play console and Google Pay asking why can't users pay for the app and what is the error about but they never answered me. But they answered to every single buyers and told them that developer is responsible for that. No selling for 2 months. I just kept reading documents and sending messages and personal documents to their bots I guess until the Pay button got activated.
If they review the app, I'm not sure if I should publish the app this time. I need an official and professional answer to this question that how is it possible that the app which I've uploaded only to Play console is all over the web and signed with my signature? Is there any other section in Google company I can contact about this issue?
    13
There is a problem with installing the APK bundle I've uploaded in Play store. It doesn't extract the libraries and MiX can't execute shell commands without root. There are many problems with recent Silver versions. I will fix it soon.
