Something I'm trying to understand, and don't even know how to do search for it. So...

- I have an arcive .zip file with several versions of a web browser.
- I want to extract (copy) all of them to another folder.
—> While doing this Mixplorer is showing the 'File already exists' popup for same items (ones that are common to all the backups).
? Why would I get the popup if the items are being extracted to different folders?

I understand the popup for the times I copy/paste a file with same name to a folder that already has that file (name), but each of these browser versions are named differently (each one is its own folder), so why does Mixplorer care?

Could this be happening in a temporary common cache space?

With the latest beta, I have found that the only folders I see under /data/data are the folders for MiXplorer and what looks like Google Play Services, but no other apps. Is there something that I can do to see all the files in there including those from other apps (or is this a result of the new scoped services).

I tried searching through the thread, but have not been able to find anything that talked to this - thought it may also be that I can't effectively search with the new XDA.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

There have been similar reports but it is hard to say if they correlate to your circumstances without knowing more details. If you search the thread for "/data/data" you will find those posts and can see if they are related to your situation. Using a web browser makes it easier and I have confirmed that this search works.

Also, recently, in the last few pages of the FAQ, there is a note containing a possible work around workaround, but again whether or not that is applicable depends on your device details.

If it turns out you are not experiencing what has been discussed you can log the issue and share the log along with device details to help the developer and others figure it out.

For Android 11, use SDK 29 (not SDK 30) MiX build to avoid that limitations imposed by Google in A11

Thank you for the assistance. I have tried to search through the web (and not the app) I didn't see anything that relates directly. In any case, I am running LOS 18.1 (11) on a Moto G6 Plus. I have created and attached a log. Hopefully that is helpful in determining the issue.

I assume that this is a comment/suggestion to the developer and not to me. Let me know if I am incorrect.

And - thanks all for the assistance.

If you are not rooted or don't want to switch to global namespace in Magisks "Mount namespace Mode", you can use the Mixplorer builds from the second post of this thread with "sdk29" in the name.
But you can't use the Beta versions in this case, so if you rely on fixes in the beta builds, you have to wait for the next stable release or switch to global namespace in Magisk.

The post about workaround is in the second to last page of the FAQ at the moment. One thing to consider is there may be multiple issues that refer to that path and I couldn't tell which is which but if you check that post you might be able to tell if it is relevant. I defer to @zgfg who knows more about this than me regarding the other suggestion.

Got it. I appreciate your help and patience. I have downloaded the API 29 version and all is good. I will monitor the thread to see what evolves - and I greatly appreciate the help.

Hi @HootanParsa, I'm trying to expand the experience on my mit themes, adding custom buttons, popups and dialogs by replacing the corresponding 9-patch pngs by my self created ones, but I can't figure out what's wrong, I'm 100% sure my pngs are patched correctly, yet the popup strokes are being deformed inside the app. I don't know how @djdarkknight96 managed to create his assets, and analyzing his glass theme, his files doesn't look 9-patch images but are named like that. Experimented dozen of methods and yet no luck. Is there something special about those files? Thanks.

    Critical Encfs Bug

    MiXplorer version: MiXplorer_v6.54.7-API29_B21041730.apk
    Android version: 10

Recall that I lost data in encfs folder before and recovered them by changing the encrypted source filenames. When I posted that problem, I am unable to reproduce it. Now, I found a way to cause data loss. I don't know if this test case is the same issue as before or not. The problem is caused by file rename. The following is how to reproduce it:

    1. create an encfs folder. For my test, I used `EncfsTest.encfs` with password `abc123`. (all other settings are default ones)
    2. Open this encfs folder.
    3. Create a folder with name `Foo`.
    4. Open the folder `Foo`.
    5. Create another folder `Abc`.
    6. Return to the parent folder
    7. Select folder `Foo` and click Rename button, Rename it to `Foo2`.
    8. Open `Foo2` folder, you will see it shows "No item". The `Abc` folder is lost.
    9. You can try to unmount this `EncfsTest.encfs` and remount it.
    10. The `Abc` folder will be lost too.
I feel this is a critical bug and should be addressed asap.
Thank you very much for your help and attention.

Thanks for your reply. I have provided the reproducible steps, so I don't think it's necessary to post a log. Since you asked, I checked the log file. It doesn't record anything useful. It does not log the encfs folder creation and folder rename etc.. Threrefore there is nothing really to post.
I can reproduce the bug in two different android devices, so I think other people can reproduce it too.
From what I understand of this bug, when you rename a folder in encfs container, all its sub-folders and files should be renamed recursively too (the encrypted filename version). But Mixplorer currently only renames the folder itself. It makes all folders and files inside the renamed folder will not be readable. To recover them, simply rename the folder name back to the original name.
    Cheers.

Not sure how @djdarkknight96 themed his .9.png files but the normal method was to decompile the apk containing them to reveal the black patches in the outer 1px border, edit the content, edit the patches (for stretching the content), recompile the apk again and the extract the .9.png from the recompiled apk.

There is a tool (probably built from the tool in Android Studio) that just decompiles and recompiles .9.pngs - the thread is old

and the link to the tool is dead, but I think I have a copy on my work PC. I'll check later and post it if I do.

There's a tutorial here which explains .9.pngs too:

A couple of days I am using and testing latest silver build update...I have to say never had a so smooth user experience as with this build...
Please be careful for the next changes and improvements for avoiding to affect the very fast response and file listing operation...:)
The latest optimizations you made was really like changing the car engine...now we drive a supercar (wanted to write the brand name but I avoided to do since I am Italian...)

Man, you are a life saver, i was using the draw9patch from the SDK, but i used the "raw" 9.png file. Cooking the raw file into an apk and then extracting it worked flawless. Infinite thanks.

    # Title: Built-in EncFS vs EDS Lite Encfs Performance (Document Provider Write Issue on Large file)

Today, when I try to play a 1080p video (only 100MB size) in a mounted encfs folder, it can not be played smoothly and the play is frozen in the middle. Then I realized there must be a performance issue. I haven't installed any performance benchmark tools on Android. (btw, I use `fio` on my Linux/MacOS). So to check the peformance, the most easiest way and stupid way is to check the write speed when copying to an encfs folder.

The target drive has about 150 MB/s write speed when it's not encfs.
With built-in encfs support, I can see the write speed is only about 11 MB/s.

Then I am wondering how EDS Lite handles encfs encyption. I downloaded EDS Lite and created a Encfs folder on the target drive with EDS Lite tool. Writting to this encfs folder inside EDS Lite tool has about 90 MB/s speed. Thus the EDS has a much better performance for encfs encryption from my testing.

But since EDS Lite has a very limited (bad) built-in file manager, I tried to use Mixplorer to open EDS encfs-decrypted folder via Document Provider. In such a way, the 1080p video can be played very smoothly. I am surprised that it supports thumbnails too in such a way. The reason why I am surprised is because when I use Mixplorer OTG fat32 driver, it does not support thumbnails. I don't know what is the logic behind document provider, but it just works.

The only problem I found via document provider with EDS lite is the WRITE. When I write a 300MB file, it has some problems. I am not sure how to express it. It takes a long time and sometimes creates two files `file.ext` and `file.ext.edstmp`, sometimes it creates three files `file.ext`, `file.ext.edstmp`, and `file.ext.edsbak`. The time taken to write varies, but very long.

So I can only rely on Mixplorer's reading via document provider, but can't trust the writing action. This will make encfs usage not that convenient.

Android encryption has a long way to go... Linux has luks. MacOS has apfs encrypted. Well, I don't find a perfect solution on Android yet.

Btw, it's funny that I found out EDS Lite does not allow folder rename. I knew folder rename is a big thing in Encfs and it requires recursive files/folders renames. But I feel EDS Lite as a professional encryption tool is just too lazy.

PS: I am just sharing some of my experience on encfs. So I don't plan to share any log and don't plan to do any further testing with benchmark tools. Thanks a lot.

@sgon00 When you test, do you use a file manager to copy a 300MB file? Once with EDS Lite built-in file manager, once with Mixplorer? Where was source file? (Encrypted space, same drive, ?) Did you do any cache clearing?

The following is almost embarrassing to ask;partially because it says more about me, than MiX.

When I go into MiX, I commonly have a very specific task at hand to perform, that I wish to be done right then. As the dev is so prolific at fixing very minor bugs (at least for my basic operations), Its quite common to be asked if I wish toi download the update. So, of course I press yes, and then proceed to forget about it...

From them it may be a day or two since I last went into MiX, and downloaded the latest update, and forgot to install it, so it asks me again if I wish to download the update. So, the auto pilot in me selects yes, again, and as before, go about getting my tasks done, and again, forget to install it. You can guess what happens the next time after this one.

This means I will have multiple downloads of the same update. If possible, it would be nice if the update check, first checks if I have already downloaded the update, and informs me of such, instead of simply offering to download another copy.

And in case I wasnt clear, this would be a VEEEEERY low priority feature request.

      Flyme 7.
the ftp server widget stops working after a while.
      Fix it, please.
Log it, Please. ;) ... but first, "A while" could be anything from a planck second to the age of the universe :D, so, getting to the nitty gritty:

Depending on your circumstances (which are unknown since you've provided nearly no details about the device or ROM or time it takes for FTP to stop working) that may be by design. Note in the FTP server settings the paramater named "Timeout" (Seconds)" for which the default value seems to be 300 (5 minutes). The FTP server will stop after that amount of time. If that is not the issue then you would definitely want to provide more details and possibly a log.

      Fix it, please.
Since this a uncommon ROM, is worth to take a look at the battery saving / optimization settings and exclude mix from any.

Imagine the Police comes to your property and says we thought your doors are open to everyone. Are they?! Yes, people come inside, do whatever they want and then leave. So for your protection, security, privacy, whatever, you must gain permission from us to use your every single room. What about my warehouse? Forget that one! Bathroom is also gonna be locked and since now you have to use the common public bathroom under our protection.
      Thank you Police! 😽

Let's experience the scoped storage with this build.
I had to search million lines of codes in all libraries I'm using for the methods which make the app slow because of this masterpiece (SS) and its high level of programming.
Add > Document provider > Find and select every single default folder in the root of storage, if it's allowed by the Center.
It's all for our security and privacy for sure as the Center says but I personally rather to turn off my phone and hide under the bed. :)

There is a leak in Play console and store services and people still have access to the apps that are not published. It is completely unacceptable. Users have contacted me about this and even insulted me for the late publish while it's accessible from pirate websites and this is Play team who is responsible for that. It's happening for a very long time and they haven't done anything about it. I have contacted them long before and they said they're not responsible. Probably Aliens are! :)
Thanks to @EuK_V for the investigation.
      13
Is there anything we can do to help?
(Online petition? Paper letters accusing Google of colluding with pirates?)
One of my guesses was because of the pandemic there are some reviewers at home with pajama who have contract with Google to review the apps but they're not doing their job professionally. :)
They're not directly colluding with pirates ( Are they?! ). They're just ignoring messages and not accepting that there is a leak. Probably because they're just so busy working on their masterpieces like scoped storage and the media scanner! :D
There is a way that you can generate a link to download an unpublished build, if you can guess the build number.
