I have a 128 GB SDCARD formatted as EXFAT. There is a big tar-file with a size over 2.4 GB.
MixPlorer cannot access the card via OTG.
I have checked that the FS and the tar-file are OK on my Linux PC as well with a recent recent version of TWRP.
I have no problems accessing a FAT formated SDCARD.
I'm using the most recent beta version of Mixplorer.
Can Mixplorer really handle an ExFat formatted SDCARD?
MiXplorer can access and handle any storage if your system can.
If your system doesn't support ExFat, then enable the built-in OTG option in the MiX settings > More settings. It works with my flash memories (FAT32, ExFat, NTFS).

The app crashes while trying to view a .heic image on lineageos18.1 OnePlus 3T android 11
Sometimes it crashes while trying to zoom and sometimes while we rotate the picture.
No issues when i open the picture from other apps.
App version 6.55.3-BETA

Sorry but I cannot attach the picture here .
I tested some images but no problem. Try to edit and censor that image and if the crash is still happening, send it to me via email. Thanks.

The reason is that there are many feature requests, so I thought maybe it's better to make it easy for others to build their own utility add-ons and import it in MiXplorer. Of course you can already select files and use Share option to send files to your Activity but in case that you want to have a custom menu option and pass more arguments or you want to have access to more info from the content provider or..., I can make it possible.
I had plan to create a pro HTTP server for years but had not enough time yet. So if you want to use an open-source library, I can make an API for that.
And ...

What! You don’t want to add absolutely every single thing that is suggested into the app? How selfish! Jkjkjkjkjk :D But seriously, are you even sleeping these days?

I can see how that method might liberate you to focus on functional issues or mandatory changes (Boogle) and let some feature requests become individual or shared user projects. These are interesting things to consider which pull the mind in different directions. On one hand there is concern that the core of MiXplorer might end up with fewer nice features, but on the other hand that core might be made better by branching off those other things. Also, this could become yet another feature that makes MiXplorer unique and desirable… if that is not at the expense of what MiXplorer can currently do. So, I am less maybe than I was before but still attached to my current notions of MiX. Most importantly, what I have are opinions while what you have are reasons, and in that context opinions are just a dash of optional seasoning on the meal and may never make it to the dinner table. Thanks again for the explanation… and the digital dinner, as it were.

We had a nice hat on our avatar yesterday I think or was it a dream!?
No, that wasn't a dream, it was an achievement for a holiday called Cinco de Mayo, as we all had little sombreros most probably in Mexico?🌶️🇲🇽

( Preface : Firefox is entirely broken on Android, one of the things Mozilla developers have removed is the ability to open local files, which many of us ironically need to do for development -- what are they thinking ? Nobody knows. Thus, at present the only way to do so is running a local web server at 127.0.0.1 or whatever on the device, and have the stupid useless thing open files that way. )

Now, when I run the http server with MiX, the problem is Firefox offers to download files in the server, instead of opening them -- for instance html files, or images. I've checked and other browsers do the same as well.

Running a web server with another application, the files are correctly opened, not downloaded.

Is there a way to fix this on MiX's side of things ?

From memory, HTTP protocol downloads files via a HTTP header. as opposed to serving pages in the stream; if I am not mistaken, thats part of the HTTP protocol definition. MiX being a file app, I would expect that it uses the file transfer protocol of HTTP not send it as HTML in the main stream. Its a file transfer via HTTP, not a HTTP web server. The HTTP{ server tells the client to expect a file not treat it as a web page. I think you will need to find a different app to serve web pages. But, It was back in the days around or before 1995 (come to think of it, I think it was before WIndows 95) that I was dealing with this. In short, you need a web server, not simply a HTTP server.

And I do know that, but just assumed the http server was a simple web server, apparently it isn't as you say and provides only file transfer.

I am using others, just thought I'd check with MiX today since I had never tried it.

What do you get if you use a desktop machine browser to access the Mixplorer server?

Do you have something that will display the HTTP header that comes from the server? It sounds like the server is returning the wrong MIME type.

I think a web server is exactly an HTTP/HTTPS server. There was always some wrinkle whereby a trailing slash on a URL was requesting a directory listing (more and more sites disable that feature).
[Or I'm wrong, and the interpretation of URL as more than just the identification of a literal file on the server is what makes a "web server".]

Well, it IS a simple web server.

What MiX does something weird with is Japanese in filenames. The browser will open index.html but will download ページ.html instead. The plot thickens.

Edit : Never mind. MiX seems to serve an index.html file for the browser to open, but renaming it to test.html, then it cannot be opened, only downloaded. Japanese was not the issue.

Linux or Android browser makes no difference.

As I said, the headers tells the client what to expect, and therefore how to render it. ie is it text/html

A HTTP server does not necessarily mean a HTML web page server. I think the fact you are having the issue itself, kinda proves the point. If you run shell commands (wget or curl ) you could access the headers that are being sent, and actually see why its not working.

Is there a way to limit to only one tab on portrait and 2 tabs on landscape? If I start with one tab in portrait and go to landscape with dual panel, portrait will then have 2 tabs. Frustrating.

With tabs hidden (for cleaner look) what is the proper way to select a panel / tab (dual panel) so I don't create extra panels/tabs or open the bookmark bar by accident?. Can't click inside of the panel without selecting the contents.

Suggestion: Make the top path scrollable horizontally (if the path is long) and clickable (like Solid Explorer) so you can single tap any folder in the path to go back, instead of first opening the path (vertically) then extra tapping the folder.

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

Not sure about the tabs stuff but: The "breadcrumbs" feature seem to do exactly what you want and can be enabled at Settings > more settings > Breadcrumb.

A variation of this can be done from the Location drop-down at the cost of one extra tap to invoke the dropdown but no scrolling required.

Thanks. I already tried the Breadcrumbs. It was very small and crowded. I'll give it another shot. Thx

EDIT: Yes. Breadcrumbs offers the clickable path but it's just too small to use. It's too cramped to click on the home plate and back arrow.

YES, IT IS TEXT / HTML. You didn't read what I wrote. It is the SAME file. MiX serves it as a page if the file is named 'index.html', but name it anything else, whatever.html, test.html ( again, SAME html file ) and it won't. The document and headers do NOT change. MiX's behaviour does.

Also, as I said, happens with images or any other kind of file. If MiX serves index.html fine to be opened, why doesn't it do it with anything else, html or otherwise ?

Edit : Reproduce yourself with any proper html file. Set MiX http server. See the difference between naming it index.html or anythingelse.html and opening from any browser.

      root version's dowload link, thanks!
      In the OP.

I definitely have no doubt, I just posted because that's what windows defender is giving me and yeah it won't let me download the file.
I was downloading all the stuff that I need before copying to my phone and flashing a new rom. Anyway I just installed the old one and updated it from there.

Not really sure why defender acted that way. All good, installed the old one and updated it from there. :)
You still did not answer the question: from where were you downloading? XDA? Google? Igor-got-apps?

Here, I clicked on the file on the first page. Why would I download the apk anywhere else if it's already here?

Since there are other places where people get legitimate copies it's just best not left to assumptions that this thread or the MiX Google page was the source. Thanks for clarifying. That blows up my rather thin hypothesis that something about the source of the downloaded file rather than the file itself caused it to be flagged.

If you have doubt about a file the details about where it came from and the file name are significant in determining if it is a false positive in a security app. Even though it may seem obvious could you clarify where you got the file and what the file name is?

[EDIT] Tested on Window 10 Pro machine with 3rd party AV (which automatically disables Defender's live scanning) and with Defender periodic scans disabled = no warnings for any of the new versions in the OPs of this thread.

Simply exclude your download directory from being scanned - but I use Defender myself and have never had it react like that with a MiX download 🤷‍♀️

Isn't it a big day today?
I see the first opening post was made on May 17, 2011. I understand that MiX probably started earlier, but 10 years on XDA this is something! 10 years of active development and awesome support is a real achievement!
      Congrats to @HootanParsa !
      Best wishings! Keep it up!
      Godspeed! 👍👍👍

Well, DiamondJohn has a point, in that eventually we all have to move on. But no need to go to extremes and kill everything that is not the latest and greatest, I think. Anyway, up to Hootan.

( Says the one who runs unstable nightlies, not even alphas, of most software ... )

Pffffft, I'm 60 years old and would probably not have an issue keeping my OP7 and staying on OOS10 for the rest of my life :D

I'm skipping OOS11 for sure, I even disabled the updater app through TiBu so it can't annoy me. I might consider OOS12, depending on what else Google f*cks up ... or I'll just stay on 10 indefinitely. The only thing missing would be security patches and if you use common sense, don't click on everything that jiggles or meows and don't install apps from shady sites you can still live a long and happy life without those silly patches.

As long as Hootan still supports older Android versions I'll be golden 🤞 :)

There's lots of talk about Solid Explorer. Which may or may not be warranted, when comparing functionality etc.

Besides the fact that it engages in tracking and data mining of the user, as I pointed out, I hold a personal grudge against it which I believe justified, and here's why. I was a beta tester for it here on XDA ages ago, where the developer fixed bugs we pointed and made the application so much better ( I insisted on my always requested full filename listing et al. ) and then the application moved to a paid status, on to the Play Store, and all the feedback and testing here used just to get into that paywalled garden ( more like garbage dumpster ) left many, included myself, feeling used.

To add insult to injury, now Solid tracks and mines data from every user, on top of requiring payment. Shameless.

Now, MiX, has never gone through that.

So I have paid for MiX ( and other file managers, the point here is not payment ), but never in a million years will pay a developer who used the forum to develop something people wanted and then proceeded to take advantage of them in every possible way, to this day.

Add this to the MiX vs. Solid chart if you will.

      Cheers.
