That's a local IP address, please do your own test, get a folder in MiXplorer and try to serve it with Webdav without wifi in your phone.

You are able to access your webdav storage from another machine over mobile data? Then I would use that app, mixplorer doesn't do that. Most cell phones companies make that almost impossible to do. Link us the apk file or the playstore link to the RCX app.

Yeah, I though you would do some research, like read the FAQ. Which is in big fonts on the first page. SO, read the FAQ, grab them from apkmirror.com or install from play store. We are not here to spoon feed you direct links, this is a not our jobs.

Edit: I don't mean to be rude, but the least people can do is read the FAQ, thats a better use of everyone times.
Bro, your first reply "you can find it on the first page" was truly rude and unhelpful. It means almost nothing. You could have said check APKmirror maybe, or check FAQ at least, if you indeed wanted to help. Why did you reply in the first place?

I don't think that feature was made to access the storage in another device, the feature was made to be able to access for example a Google drive cloud storage to a installed app within the same device, here is the Rcx app link

Can I install codecs addon from somewhere other than play store?

Where in this post did you mention the FAQ or said you did any searching for your answer? Just a random 1 line question. Why should we hold your hand to find an answer if thats what you are going to post. And even when we pointed you to the FAQ, you couldn't find it. Like did you even read the FAQ at all? Later.

Jeez. Compare your answer to the one posted earlier that was actually helpful. Then keep convincing yourself that you were not rude.

When I saw your reply that I can find it on the first page, I thought there would be a direct link on the first page. I didn't know that you meant I need to click FAQ - read APKmirror is one of places to get an apk - go to APKmirror and search Mix Codecs.

Within the app, Settings > Addons > add button > Mix Codecs takes it to play store, hence my question if I can get it somewhere else. Not sure why you mention it again.

FYI, if things that are findable by searches are asked about the responses will often include reminders about the different places and ways of searching. If other people hadn't done that it I would have done so for better or worse.

That being said here is a tip about this FAQ which may help in any Forum or thread. Answers to many common questions can be found by using the official thread search function although in some cases finding effective search words is difficult or if there are many results it can be hard to find the right result. Additionally there is a more basic way to search threads; That is to just go to the first page of that thread and search for the keywords on the web page. That is old and simple method of searching but should flush out anything that is findable in the FAQ. Additionally most threads usually explain those things in the first couple of posts.

By way of explanation, AFAIK at one point in the past some of the add-ons were for pay. At some date that changed and most of them were removed from the play store but the codec add-on one is still available there. That's why tapping the codec add-on within mix takes you to the Play Store but tapping the other add-ons takes you to the web page.

[EDIT] I wrote and posted this before seeing the three preceding 3 posts arguing about searching for answers. Having been right and wrong on both sides of that argument in the past I am coming from no high ground and casting no criticism but... If it seems like minimal or no effort was put into searching there will be nags about the realistic expectation to search. Most of the time the nags seem to be on the mark and sometimes they might not be.

So it goes.

Sad but laziness is becoming the new black. Thread should be a source of information to be searched. I'll be always against the Spoonfeed because is not educative. Period.

Ability to swap locations of main menu and drawer.

I've been using MiXplorer every day for years, and just realized that I would benefit from having the 'bookmarks hamburger button' on the left. I use a large tablet and can't reach it with a 'right-hand-finger-stretch'.

Below is the link to my OP in the FAQ thread on this subject, and ITM's response, including a suggestion that perhaps it could be added to the bottom button bar.

Well to be clear, I always search before posting questions. Why would I ask questions and wait till someone comes up if I can get an answer right away by searching. I am the kind of person who peruses manuals first when I buy something. Surprising?

I tried to install the addon from the app itself which took me to the store. Went to mixplorer.com to see if I can get one there, again took me to the play store. Came to this thread to see if there was an apk, no. Then got confused because I did not install add-ons from the play store, although I used XDA Labs before it was discontinued. So I came to this thread and tried some searches but could not find what I wanted to know, so I asked. There are times one misses something that might be just too obvious. It might have been today for me.

I did not, and still do not feel like I had to write all I have done first because the question is pretty simple. Oh, I appreciate your tip again btw.

The thread became a better source of information thanks to a nice tip added by IronTechmonkey. For it to be more educative there need to be questions and answers. Why do we need thread then, we only need dev faqs.

Well, it looks like I am the one not liked in this thread. I will be gone, apologizes to anyone bothered.

I accidentally clicke on remember and explore.
How do I revert this default setting?
How do I get back open with option?
Easiest and fastest way to open file as, to change it permanently - and to open it once differently:

You've probably noticed that I'm gentler about this than I used to be but I still make sure the spoon has rough edges so people don't want to feed off it too much, and even if that becomes spoon-feeding it will include a lesson in searching that will likely not be ignored the next time by that particular person, at least I hope.. :)

Even though I might not use such a feature I think it could open up new ways for people to interact with the MiX UI. When in the FAQ thread I suggested doing this in the bottom bar, a feeling of deja vu washed over me. Perhaps that has even been mentioned before.

A couple of issues I've seen in recent beta versions and I always forget to mention ...

A log is created in Android / data / com.mixplorer.beta / cache / log / even though logging is not enabled in MiX's settings.

Files in Android / data / com.mixplorer.beta / cache / temp / sometimes are not erased.

For instance I just copied two files from a card attached via OTG, 1 GB each. When the operation was done and they were properly copied, one was erased from temp, but the second one was left there, occupying a full extra GB.
Android has had 3 partitions (at least) since the early days. System for the OS, Data for persistent data and CACHE for temporary storage. When developing apps, if you want to re-use the data and depend on it being there tomorrow, you store it on the Data partition. For temporary files that can be deleted without your permission, you store that on the cache partition. The cache partition is managed in part by the OS. It may chose to delete files when it deems it necessary. You put anything there, and the system could/will delete it. It should be self manage by the OS to stop becoming full. Unless the cache is being abused, its not a bug, that's the way android apps are developed.

Personally, when I use the cache in my apps (which I heavily do), its for items that I EXPECT to be deleted by the OS. But i personally try keep it relatively small out of a kind of courtesy, Its also a case of devs seeing it as any "unused storage / memory is wasted storage/memory". Manually explicitly deleting the files will actually slow down your app instead of letting the OS manage it on off cycles.

I also have to admit, one of my boot scripts cleans up unnecessary files across the system, and a few years back, MiX's cache was a target. Now its mostly Windows files that have made it onto my android device. eg windows album/folder art.

You can pull drawer by swipe right from left edge.

I'm confused: if you "can't reach it with a 'right-hand-finger-stretch'", how will moving it to the left help?

See the path I posted : Android / data / com.mixplorer.beta / cache / temp /

This is in /sdcard, or if you prefer : /storage/emulated/0/Android etc

It is created and managed entirely by MiX.

And this issue is not trivial. I know to quickly figure out there could be GBs of duplicate files from operations there and remove them myself, but a normal user wouldn't and could choke up the system filling a device's storage in a moment.

My USB sticks aren't visible on MiXplorer on my phone and tablet for a while.
I've reinstalled the app, but that didn't solve my issue.
Even the latest version has still the issue.
I can only see my USB sticks on the default file managers.
Is this issue fixable or is this related to the app?

You are not the first case, but just one of many users that leaved this thread because of some (always the same) users...
It seems that this is the normal behaviour even if it is a non sense for an xda thread. I have to say that even the developer knows this but avoid to speak about...(cannot understand why). So, let them stay only in thread...reply to them is a waste of time and it is not worth at all...

Google now wants to kill the .apk, and turn all Android applications into Play Store "bundles", even asking developers to hand over the signing keys.

That's something I would pay to NOT have.

Now, THAT would be a very big difference between Silver and XDA versions. I hope there'll always be an independent, Google-free MiX over here, signed by Hootan only.

I seen this thread in the "New Posts" section. I just want to say that Mixplorer is the greatest file explorer on Android. For a couple years I haven't even had the desire to try another file explorer. I use Samsungs "My Files" occasionally. I gladly bought Mixplorer Silver from the Play Store. One of the best apps available in the Play Store and even outside the Play Store.
Alright, I'm getting off Mixplorers nuts, lol.....It's a wonderful app, I have no complaints or advice to make it better. It's perfect

Why I can't see root/data/data app folders? I only see the MiXplorer folder.

    Thanks in advance

You need to change mount namespace mode in magisk settings to global.

    Cheers

... and also, please search for answers before asking. This question has been answered frequently including with a post in the FAQ which are fairly easy to find.

Hi. Anyone else having problems with OTG with the recent builds? OTG drives does not appear anymore in Mixplorer when I plug in one, but it does appear after clearing data of Mix while still plugged in. Also Mix does not show the free/total space anymore. Thanks.
So I'm trying to access my flash drive via otg and this error shows up everyime. I've allowed USB OTG in the settings, added custom drivers, but it still doesn't work for me tho I can access my flash drive just fine using the built-in file manager.View attachment 5350451

The following MAY or MAY NOT answer your specific questions:

To access the USB drive with MiX on Android 11, you need to click the PLUS sign at the bottom of MiX, then select DOCUMENT PROVIDER, then navigate to the root of your USB drive and select it. After that, you should have a bookmark in MiX that accesses the USB drive. It is not at all obvious how to do this!

('Enable OTG' is only required if your phone doesn't support OTG natively)

Side note: When I insert my USB drive, a choice pops up offering to open it with File Commander or ES File Explorer. If I select either of those, I immediately get a notification that my USB drive was I uninstalled incorrectly. Therefore, I click outside of that to select neither and am able to access my USB drive in MiX perfectly.

Well that new crappy bundle stuff is only for NEW apps, so MiX/hootan won't have to do that.

According to some articles I read this morning there are tons of security concerns in connection with those bundles, so from now on I'll be checking XDA/github/whatever legit source 1st and if there is no other option but the playstore I'll have to think twice before installing any (new) app from there
