@J.Michael

I've attached three log files documenting the behavior I described above. The oldest log file (MiX-B21060540_2021-08-14_10-52.txt) details the following actions:

1. Start HTTP/WebDAV server by tapping ... -> Servers -> pencil icon next to "Start HTTP/WebDav Server" -> "Start HTTP/WebDav Server"
2. Attempt to connect 3 times via Firefox (entered correct login/password each time; authentication failed each time)
3. Attempt to connect 3 times via mapped network drive in Windows 10 Explorer (entered correct login/password each time; authentication failed each time)
4. Stop server
5. Re-enter same password, tap "Save", tap "Start HTTP/WebDav Server"
6. Successfully connect to web interface via Firefox after entering correct login/password
7. Successfully map to network drive in Windows 10 Explorer (not prompted for login/password this time; maybe it saves it from the web interface?)
8. Wait a couple minutes; no longer able to connect to drive in Windows 10 Explorer
9. Force close MiXplorer using Apps menu in Android

The second log file (MiX-B21060540_2021-08-14_10-58.txt) details the following actions:

1. Reopen MiXplorer
2. Tap ... -> Servers -> pencil icon next to "Start HTTP/WebDav Server" -> "Start HTTP/WebDav Server"
3. Attempt to connect 3 times via Firefox (entered correct login/password each time; authentication failed each time)
4. Attempt to connect 3 times via mapped network drive in Windows 10 Explorer (entered correct login/password each time; authentication failed each time)

Finally the newest log file (MiX-B21060540_2021-08-14_11-12.txt) details the following actions:

1. Reopen MiXplorer
2. Tap ... -> Servers -> pencil icon next to "Start HTTP/WebDav Server"
3. Tap "Save" (even though the password didn't change)
4. Tap "Start HTTP/WebDav Server"
5. Attempt to connect 3 times via Firefox (entered correct login/password each time; authentication failed each time)
6. Attempt to connect 3 times via mapped network drive in Windows 10 Explorer (entered correct login/password each time; authentication failed each time)

I want to transfer an entire Folder, possibly with many subfolders, using Nearby Share or Wi-Fi Direct from one phone to another.

Every file explorer I've tried either:
1) Doesn't let you share Folders (only Files), meaning the share option is absent when long pressing folders.
2) Gives you the option, but in fact only transfer the loose files inside and not the folder structure.
3) Gives you the option, but gives an error when actually performing the task and fails.

MiXplorer falls into the third category (stating no media could be found), which is a real shame because this is such a basic functionality, equivalent to copy and pasting folders across devices.

I also know for a fact that it is entirely possible, because the app "Send Anywhere" can do this using Wi-Fi Direct, retaining the entire structure of folders, subfolders, and files, transferring GB's of data in just a few minutes.

If someone can recommend a File Explorer that can do the above task, please let me know.

Hello. Thanks for the great tool ... Hope to bring back the tcp server ... And a small wish, please add the "new window" function to the text editor and the code editor (like in terminals), your text editor is better than any terminals, but there is a little lack of multi-window (and if this is possible, then in a new window so that without saving the file , it was possible to execute the code (script) ... Also on the old version, the autodetect encoding function did not work, I do not know whether it was fixed or not, if not, please correct it (in yota + it works well) ... Thanks again. I hope that you will only get better ...
+1 to the idea of being able to create a new text file from within editor whether achieved by the method you suggest or another. That would nicely complement an existing feature, the drop down allowing you to switch between documents.

Have you tried using FTP?

Don't know what that is, did you get it working to share folder?
For MiXplorer, there's a dedicated thread: MiXplorer: Q&A and FAQ (User Manual) - made by @IronTechmonkey
The link can be found in first post of this thread.

There, you can find a detailed description about how to set up ftp for file transfer (and folders) from one device to another.

@hudson4351 Have you checked to see if you have some kind of Power Management / Battery Saver enabled? Maybe excluding Mixplorer will affect the "dropping" part of the problem. (Without explaining the "stuck until you go through the motions of changing the password" part.)

I excluded MiXplorer from battery optimization but unfortunately that didn't fix the problem and the connection to the mapped network drive is dropped after a couple minutes or so.

I don't think I've used Mixplorer to copy a folder between tablets, just to copy a few files.

Put Mixplorer on both phones. On one phone, start an FTP server. Pay attention to what it tells you is the address, including the port number. On the other phone, define a bookmark, enter the address and port of the other phone.

Is there any way to just share an entire folder without having to set up Mixplorer/FTP server on both phones? Because sometimes I want to transfer data to phones that are not mine (friends/colleagues), and it's awkward having them change into a file explorer they aren't used to using.

Ideally I want to share using Nearby Share which is built into Android (and it works great for files but not folders). Admittingly I don't know if the files-only limitation is due to the file manager app used or whether it's due to the Nearby Share function itself, I do know that another app called Send Anywhere which transfers using WiFi Direct can overcome this limitation.

Ask your friends how they do it.

If there was a particular set of files I wanted to share with a number of people, I would make a zip or tar of them. But then, I would probably e-mail it to them, rather than waiting until I ran into each person.

Any "standard" solution probably does not involve each of these people being invited to access your phone and just grab what they want.

Any "standard" solution should be a dedicated app since is a specific feature. As explained, MiX can do that, not that easy but it works, remember MiX is a "light footprint" FILE EXPLORER. For easy, straight to the point solution better stick with send anywhere or whatever app specially designed to share files.

IIRC at one time the developer did experiment with a wifi-direct type of feature which may have even been related to or similar to send anywhere but it was later removed for reasons I don't recall or never knew.

Although FTP may be top heavy regarding the configuration for the type of usage you want and you may not need its robust features you only need MiX on the device running the server. There are many apps as well as native operating systems such as Windows which can access FTP servers as long as both devices are on the same network and not blocked from seeing each other. That's still not as convenient as what you're hoping for but it's more convenient than having MiX on both devices. I don't know if the HTTP server allows you to copy entire folders but what it does offer is less requirements on the visiting end since it can be accessed from any browser of a computer on the same network and requires less configuration particularly at the visiting end.

@HootanParsa would you consider adding a Sync option into MiX? I know it goes a bit beyond the native file manager options, but not wholly unrelated.

I ask because there seems to be a hole out there for an app that can do all of these things:
1) Reliably connect to SMB DFS shares
2) Access the local filesystem as root (and/or at least give full access to /Android/Data)
3) Perform a folder sync

I have been looking at several apps which are designed for syncing (namely FolderSync and SMBSync2), and the former fails on 1 and the latter fails on 2. MiX has 1 and 2 down it appears, so was hoping maybe you would consider it? If you think it is out of range perhaps you are interested in a stand alone...wink, wink, nudge, nudge :)

    Any progress on this issue?
Ummm... I guess you are new here. Going to try to be nice, 1.as per xda rules no posts about updates. 2. The Dev of MiX lives in a volatile country and sometimes goes away for quite some time. He has always returned safely (thankfully) and goes back and reads all posts and issues carefully. 3. Have patience, hopefully he will return soon and will be able to post new builds with fixes and new treats for all. 👍🐻

are mixplorer updates stopped from now on and app will be dead for updates or what is going on ??
Try searching (as in XDA rule #1) this thread for "Updates" 😉

I think I may have suggested this a while back but any chance for a Mixplorer checksum comparison feature/function in Mixplorer?
This already works with single files. Open a file's properties, tap on "checksum", tap on any checksum, e.g. sha256, this will copy the hash to clipboard and you can compare it with a different file by opening properties once more, then checksum, long press on sha256. You will get a message if the hash fits or not.

Would you recommend to do not proceed?
Just ignore it - most here have used MiX for years without any issues :)
