Hmmm, still not for me on Pixel 6/A12.

Fresh install of the Beta, so no saved or imported preferences or anything. I go to open the .txt, select direct and Kiwi Browser opens to download the file while I see a "Streaming" notification from MiX in the notification area. If I tap on the "download complete" notification from Kiwi the browser itself opens the .txt file and then lets me chose to open with MiX and with which editor. But when I edit + save it that's only done locally, not to the main file on my PC.

If I select "Save in temporary folder" then it behaves as expected: MiX asks me what to use to open it and if I select Code Editor and save after making any changes then it's saved on the PC as well.

I'm guessing it's some A12 issue @HootanParsa? Otherwise I have no idea how that could happen since the Beta has no saved preferences or anything, nor did I ever tell the Pixel to open files across the LAN in Kiwi Browser lol. 🤷‍♀️

That is weird indeed. you might be experiencing 2 issues, 1) the reported issue saving file live and 2) possibly some competition for downloads between OS, app and browsers.

1) The issue saving live file was fixed in the beta; confirmed with additional testing with files on 3 devices: credential-less SMB share on router-USB, and on credentialed access to windows 10 computer and credentialed access to Linux Ubuntu. In all cases it went like so.

- navigate to location of file
- tap file
- the choice for direct link or save in temporary location is immediately presented.
- direct link = code editor which can save file successfully
- save to temporary = code editor or text editor both of which can save the file successfully

2) This brings us what you saw, a browser and operating system notification involved in what would typically be an exclusively MiXplorer action. To the point of making a choice between direct link and save to temporary location, that choice would seem to preclude the involvement of a 3rd party browser and operating system notification. AFAIK, the download is supposed to occur in the background or between the remote storage and whichever app receives the file from MiXplorer such as in the case of media playback.

Speaking of media playback, in an attempt to test larger files for which download status indicators might be more visible I opened some video files from the same LAN locations. As was the case before the choice of direct link or temporary location was presented immediately (before download). When direct link was selected the file was handed off to a video player which would either stream it live or download before playback with no third party browser or system notification, just the status icon in the player.. When saved to temporary location is selected the file is saved and while this occurs MiXplorer presents a non-interactive simple panel indicating the process. It seems to me that you should be seeing something like this instead of the browser and operating system notifications - or not seeing it as is the case with fast opening text files.

I don't see how the browser and OS notification got involved in your device but to your point maybe changes in A12. Also, as weird as this seems to be it is consistent that a clean install of MiXplorer did not reset the associations. In such cases is not uncommon to have to go as far as uninstalling the browser which has taken the download association.

Since it's not a scenario I'll actually need (direct editing across the network) I'll just leave it be for now. I was merely trying to help troubleshoot the issue, but I don't want to have to set Kiwi up fresh again - I'm not rooted yet and can't do a full app backup with Migrate or whatever.

I'll just blame A12 - it IS responsible for a whole bunch of issues after all and is a proper $hitshow all around. Once I'm rooted I might try it again if that 🐛 hasn't been squished by then 😇

I am also not seeing the expected behavior or am misunderstanding the expectation.

With a home path designated in the account: For all methods of invoking the server then that directory is presented to clients as root of directory tree with no ability to browse up or to other locations outside of that path.

Regarding the location in the active MiX tab on the server being delivered as root of directory tree to clients: MiX clients never see the active tab as root; just the designated home location or root of server device.

The only time the active MiX tab on the server is seen by client as root (or working directory) is when the server has no home value and is run from Server Toolbar or Menu > Servers and when Filezilla is client rather than MiX.

Complete description of different results here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/mixplorer-q-a-and-faq-user-manual.3308582/post-65157350
Hmm , Home means root and working directory will be same as Home unless the app is opened, then the current folder will be the working directory.
OK, I will add a separate input box for the current folder in the server settings.
Then I will set "/" as Home and primary storage as current folder for Admin by default.

If your device can read your USB partition, then don't enable OTG option in MiX, please.
If you have the latest versions of Android, you can access USB drive by document providers. But in older versions of Android, there is a real folder and if it's not added to the bookmark list automatically, then find it manually or Reset Bookmarks from the drawer menu.

Click on the menu on the top left - then on the icon right next to "Bookmarks" - and "Add storage". There you can choose how you want to connect to NextCloud: LAN (Samba), SFTP and WebDav are supported (maybe more) and the connection string can be found in your NextCloud installation...
WebDav is not supported on Silver?

I'm still a bit confused. When connecting from a MiXplorer client there is no case where the client sees the folder which is currently in the active tab of MiXplorer on the server device, always root of server device (or if a path is specified for home that location will be shown but never the active tab in MiXplorer). The only time the active tab is shown is when connecting from Filezilla which distinguishes between the access level and the working folder and expands the entire tree from root of server down to the active folder in MiXplorer on the server.

In any event the FAQ describes what I saw. If other people are getting different results from different circumstances and share it I can add it to the FAQ.

A separate option for current folder (that works with MiXplorer clients) would be nice.

@HootanParsa, rather than another post, this additional note here: The functionality that seems to be missing which existed in the old version is to be able to deliver the currently active tab via FTP by starting the server from toolbar, or to deliver the directory designated as "home" when running the server from server edit box.

Same result as before: As soon as I select Direct Link Kiwi browser pops up with no option to select anything else 🤷‍♀️

FTP client in Mixplorer will probably ignore the current working directory. It will go to the root (Home). I will work on it.

But the current folder in server must be in the same path. The user is not allowed to browse outside of that directory.

That was my understanding, that MiXplorer would effectively ignore the working folder and present the root of server device /8access level) rather than the working directory. I may have previously described this as the distinction between access level and working directory which is visible in Filezilla..

But the current folder in server must be in the same path. The user is not allowed to browse outside of that directory.

If there turns out to be some restriction in that regard so be it. Anything you could do to restore the functionality described in an edit mention of you in previous post would be great, but even if there are some restrictions the new server set up does offer greater functionality and has been engaging to play with. :D Thanks.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I had checked that Enable OTG was enabled; I apologise not mentioning it.

Every device I tried does work in the Huawei Media pad M5 running Android 8.0.

I found one device, a Sandisk with a Type C interface which does work in the realme X2, Mixplorer will only work when I Enable OTG. Other file managers work without any configuration. When Enable OTG is enabled and the USB stick is inserted I get 2 request.; one from Mixplorer requesting me to access the USB stick. I also get a system request asking if I want to use My Files ( the inbuilt file manager) or 2 other programs as the default app , but none of my added normal file managers.

When I add other USB sticks connected via OTG cable or a Type C to A adapter I get no notifications at all and no access, but all work on the Huawei Media pad M5
Please, when you say "Enable OTG", say whether that is system-level or Mixplorer-level option.

You refer to several external drives. How is each formatted? (I mean, what filesystem type is on each.)

Ok, thanks. I have to test it on Android 12.
So I did some more checking, booted up my OP3 running RR based on A10 and installed the latest Beta there.

Here Kiwi doesn't butt in like on A12, I can open it directly across the LAN and pick Code Editor. BUT then I get a toast saying "not supported" when I try to save the .txt file I edited over the LAN.

So at least we can be fairly certain the weird Kiwi Browser behaviour is caused by A12 - it's my default browser on this device too and doesn't try to intercept the action here.

Hello, I just started using this application today and I think it's a really good file explorer.

However I found an issue with the image viewer and the thumbnail previewer which when the dark mode is enabled, inverts all of the image colors in some black/white images.
Opening the image with the phone's native gallery doesn't have this issue.

My device is a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro running MIUI v12.5.4.0 Stable (RGGEUXM) and not rooted.

For this report I started by opening an image named "hello.png" (attached) without dark mode enabled, everything looks as it should. After that I enabled dark mode and immediately the colors of the preview got it's colors inverted and when opening the image it was also inverted.

I have attached the log exported by the app.

Yep. Dark mode makes white screens dark.

Please don't forget to share the log when you report crash or error messages and tell me the steps to reproduce them. Thank you. And better not to ignore my questions and requests because I won't repeat them. I'm not a teacher and I'm not going to explain why I'm asking them. You should just know that things aren't always as basic as what you have in your mind.

Found this as looking to play videos from the cloud on my firestick (K0di doesnt seem to like it)

But even with the codecs installed i can only get black video and sound on X265, change to SW and choppy and breaking up

I know on Mxplayer HW+ was a fix, but i dont see this option in this app
I removed x265 from VLC library (SW mode). It's open source but with GPLv2 license as I remember.
Many apps are using it even if they're not open source, so I'm still not sure if I can use it in MiXplorer or not.

    Ahh, I see, thanks!
So no questions on this issue here then.
Try the new BETA. With DirectLink option, you can use many apps, for editable files but it's experimental. Be careful and don't use Text editor with Direct link. Built-in Text Editor is not a normal editor. It loads part of the files based on their size, unless your file is very small. It can damage your file in some situations.

I updated some inconsistent icons on my Material themes, you can check it out here.

I can confirm this behavior when opening text files.

    And not only this:
I have several web browsers installed, one of them is Opera. And when Opera is set as the default browser in my system settings and I try to open a video file in a samba share folder, MiX doesn't offer any video player to open the file. Neither MiX's built-in, nor other players. And the video file is opened in Opera browser. But if another web browser is set by default, MiX offers a full list of players installed on my phone to open the file.
I also want to say that I didn't tick the check box "Remember" and didn't set any player by default. This is not the problem.

There is no such behavior in the Internal Storage. (neither with text nor with video files)

@HootanParsa could you take a look at this?
    Thanks!
Thank you. Try the latest BETA and tell me the result.
