I'm still having zero luck in getting any OTG drive or adapter to work in MiX when they all work fine in other file managers on the same phone. I got my Pixel 6 Pro (running stock Android 12 with all the latest updates from day 1 all the way until now) back on the second week of November and did a completely fresh setup of my phone. I installed MiX Silver right away so I could use it to transfer files but accessing any OTG drive hasn't worked since day 1 on this phone for some reason.

I've tried all the suggestions here and basically haven't used MiX with any OTG for the last couple months because it was futile. MiX would completely lock up and freeze, not allowing me to even get logs or anything. The only way out was to force close it.

Fast forward to today when I decided to see how my OTG would work and to my delight, MiX no longer locks up but I still can't access the OTG. I have a video and here are the logs attached. I'm running the latest Play Store version. MiX takes me to a seemingly random place in internal memory instead of letting me choose the OTG like I expected and other file managers do.

Thanks for responding. I guess APK studio automatically changes the signature that’s why the app closes when launched. I understand you want to protect your app. I was just trying to fix the annoying grey icon part.

I will try Just copying the icon Into the drawable directory. But from what I understand AndroidManifest.xml icon parameter should also refer to drawable which I don’t believe is doable without rebuilding the apk.

It would be amazing if MiX was available on Fire OS store as it’s the best explorer on android tv.

Ok, I thought they don't care about the manifest. There are some information about changing many things like icons on their website. I tried to change the app icon and some colors but didn't work on FireTV. Are you sure giving the drawable address instead of mipmap in the manifest will fix the issue? Then I will change it for API29 build.

Since your last post in this thread there may have been some changes and some new documentation for OTG. You mentioned trying suggestions here; if you mean specifically This thread then it would be worth checking the OTG stuff in the FAQ. If you've already checked the FAQ then the details you provided should help the developer or others figure it out.

MiX doesn't take you anywhere. It just opens the provider selector. Then you can find and select your USB drive. That's what you're doing for months? Just opening and closing it? You don't even open the menu to see what is there?! I really cannot believe it.

It is possible to install simultaneously the XDA version, and the Play Store version, and the beta version. IIRC they will share any installed add-ons but each will run separately with its own settings (probably because they have different package names). That being said, I do not recommend running parallel versions except for testing; even then when I do this for testing I make sure to apply and obviously different skin. A good bit of this is explained in the FAQ.

Here is how I fixed icons for all side loaded apps that had grey icons.
1. Open APK in APK Editor Studio
2. Right-click on the “XHDPI” icon and select “Save Resource As.” then save the icon into drawable-xhdpi. (source location is mipmap-xhdpi) making sure the file name stays as ic_launcher.png
3. Open AndroidManifest.xml”
4. Find the line that starts with “<application” and scroll to the right until you find the section of the line that has “android:icon” in it. The line will probably say android:icon=”@mipmap/ic_launcher” so you want to replace “mipmap” with “drawable” so that the line now reads android:icon=”@drawable/ic_launcher”.
5. Save changes to AndroidManifest.xml and save APK.

With mixplorer, the only difference was that the file name in step 2 was icon_mix.png instead of ic_launcher.png.
so I adjusted step 4 and changed the section from android:icon="@Mipmap/icon_mix" to android:icon="@drawable/icon_mix"

This results in the app having correct icon in Fire Os7 however the app launches for 1 second and crashes instead of showing the prompt to accept the T&C.

Problem seems to be solved in the latest beta.
Stable 6.58.2 asks to use Mix code editor beside the browser to open links, with the beta installed links are opened with Firefox directly without asking.
So until now no problems anymore. Will report when something happens again as the issue is kind of random but for the moment everything's fine.

There is a bug in some Android 12 builds and they freeze if you ask for capacity of the drive. MiX is using an alternative way in the latest version.
If your USB drive is not in the list, that means it's mounted somewhere else like you have enabled the built-in USB driver in MiX and it is using another SDK which is damaged in some Android builds. It's working properly on OxygenOS but it's slow. Don't enable it.

If the user is Anonymous or Guest in FTP-Client, the working directory will be read-only. Default user is Admin.

i'm using island (com.oasisfeng.island.fdroid.apk) which create seperate user account, the second account was called "work space", storage located at emulate/10, differ from emulate/0 of main account.

I'm not sure if I understood. You can have access to any folder. Find the folder and bookmark it.

BTW, if you are able to install software on your computer and not totally beholden to Windows Explorer, Filezilla will give you more functionality as well as stability and informative notifications when there are errors. I use a Filezilla client from my PC to specifically to diagnose issues with FTP transfers between other devices. If you can't get this figured out otherwise it might be worth comparing Filezilla.

Of course I'm able to install anything on my pc. The behavior that I described in my posts above just seemed strange to me, so I reported it, nothing more

What is your working directory in the server settings? Tap on Accounts dropdown > Username.
Also as I remember Finder in macOS doesn't support Implicit. I guess it's the same for Windows. Change it to Explicit in server settings but enter your address with ftps scheme, not ftpes in Windows Explorer.

Edit: Another thing: If your username is anonymous then your working directory will be read-only. The default username is Admin.

Yep, the anonymous login was the cause! In fact, I completely forgot about login method, because all previous versions worked with anonymous login normally and even the current version does not give any login prompt, at least in standard "dumb" MS Explorer. Thanks for hint, problem solved.

no, the second user's storage is not visible or accessable for main user. and this is the way it protect our data from hoodlum apps.

this act same as two users in Linux. without root privileges or CROSS-USER-PRIVILEGE, apps in different user account are not able to see each other, althrough they are running at the same time.

as i know, there are two ways to trans files between users:
1. grant CROSS-USER-PRIVILEGE, just like google did, but i don't known the details.(through socks?)
2. start a webdav/http server in one user, and start a client in the other. (i think this is easier to do it. )
