Ok so my hypothesis about built-in bookmarks can be discarded. I don't know what could cause the difference in behavior among different built-in bookmarks.

I could understand @HootanParsa not wanting a tab labelled "All Files" to display less than all files. I do not immediately see a reason to treat "All Files of a Particular Type" differently.

That's why I was wondering if it occurred only with built-in bookmarks and suggested creating a search and trying to apply the filter. To your point, it's surprising the filter works at all in built-in bookmarks.

Nice catch. It would seem that the built-in Image bookmark should include that location but indeed it does not. Interestingly the pictures folder on external storage (which is also created by the operating system) is included as are user created folders on internal and external storage.

JPEG Xl is a new image format that greatly improves on jpeg. I is both lossless and lossy. It is described here https://jpeg.org/jpegxl/ and the FAQ https://jpegxl.io/articles/faq/

It is supported on Windows and MacOS. No mobile Operating System supports JPEG XL, but browsers such as Chrome and Vivaldi support it on Android but may need a flag enabled (such as flags/#enable-jxl). There are no viewers that I can find that currently support .jxl files although I found one app that could convert it , File Converter: AVIF, JXL, ODS (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.mconverter.twa)

It would be great if the MiXplorer Image app could read JPEG XL (.jxl) files.

Hello, I recently switched to Android 11 and read about the restrictions for the new Scoped Storage for the /sdcard/Android/data folder and mixplorer works fine for this path. But it doesn't seem to access the one on external SD instead for example /storage/1B1B-0FF9/Android/data

But with root it is poosible to manage this directory using the path
/mnt/media_rw/1B1B-0FF9/Android/data
or
/mnt/runtime/full/1B1B-0FF9/Android/data

Was it already known?
I suggest that Mixplorer redirects to those paths if it has detected the root.

Keeping in mind that having access to the folders is different from being able to see or modify the contents of those folders... you should be able to see the folder tree within the Android/data directory on both internal and external storage if you have granted the requested document providers. Typically those permission prompts open automatically when you navigate into the folders as just now occurred on my non rooted Android 11 device. If that did not occur automatically you can invoke it by adding storage > document provider.

Interestingly, after adding the document providers as described for internal and external storage on a non rooted Android 11 device I am able to copy and create files in /android/data on both drives but I'm only able to save text files live witin editor in /internal storage/android/data. Attempts to save live edits of a text file in /external storage/android/data result in a sequentially numbered duplicate of the initial file with the duplicate containing the contents of the edit. Here things get weirder. When the sequentially numbered duplicate file containing the previous edit is opened then ssved witin editor, there may be an error "read failed: enoent (no such directory)"

The fact that Google Voice typing flawlessly wrote the error message above including punctuation is yet another example about how bogus their speech recognition is when it comes to typing actual words. Also Google turns "back to mixplorer" into "bactrim explorer". ROTFL, please let us take any engaging but off topic of conversations about "bactrim (aka camel) exolorer" to the FAQ. HOWL!

Anyhow, back to mixplore, in the same file after receiving that error message the next attempt to save it may was successful but then create a new duplicate. Lather rinse repeat. I smell the presence of an Android media library and or permissions irregularities.

Goodness gracious I had attempted to merely describe adding a document provider and then that rabbit hole opened up.

I tried to re-enter the external path /Android/data and grant permissions again with the document provider then I saved the logcat. But there seems to be no information about it. In addition, the denied permission to access the contents of that folder is not indicated with an access denied message, it simply opens the folder and shows that there are no files.

The phone is Umidigi Bison Pro (Android 11). But since it seems to me AOSP firmware I thought it happened for everyone.

Edit: Also seems that SD maid App can normally see the files in that path... but it didnt ask permission with document provider so i think is using the root path

Edit2: Sorry i sent a generic logcat captured with a different app. Added the cleaner Mixplorer generated log.

I don't know if it still applies considering the significant changes that were made to the server a few months ago but there may be others who have done this since the server changes and if they have posted about it "tasker" should be an effective search-word.

Likewise on my devices SD Maid has never asked for permissions to paths other than the few requested upon first run of each sub-utility; seems as if that must be done through root.

As to the contents of /[external storage]/android/data, I had previously reported from non-rooted Android 11 device about only the default mapping, now switching to rooted device and including alternate paths:

On rooted Android 11 via default mapping to /[external storage]/android/data, the contents of the few folders that actually contain material can be seen. Note: Few apps actually use this location but ones that allow us to move large amounts of data to external storage do such as MS Translator and HereWeGo (maps). This seems to be as expected but on both the non-rooted and the rooted Android 11 devices I cannot save text files directly to /[external storage]/android/data unless (to your point) going through /root/mnt/media_rw/[exernal SD]/android/data.

Although that is a different issue from yours the solution to both seems to be to use path through root. What was old is new again! At one point many android versions ago the workaround paths were required depending on Android version and ROM variant (which is why those paths and recommendation to try them are in the FAQ). There was a period of time when I did not need to use them but I do now for saving text files. Cant explain why your not seeing files in /[external storage]/android/data on rooted device though.

Support for Google Drive Shortcuts Needed
Google drive implemented shortcuts a while ago, and it works flawlessly and is a great feature. However, mix sees the shortcuts as some other file type, instead of linking to the file. Maybe this can be fixed?
