Hello,

Recently switched from FX File Explorer to MiXplorer. I liked how pretty much any aspect of MiX can be customized to our liking, I spent an hour yesterday going though all it's options, customizing it exactly to my liking.

However, 1 thing has been bugging me. In FX, whenever I navigated through folders with huge amount of folders/files, I used the filter button to quickly find what I want in the current directory. After I click on the folder/file I need, the filter search bar auto-collapses in FX. MiX has a similar search button, but I've noticed that the search bar never auto-collapses, even after I tap on a file/folder or even if I press the back button. It stays there, until the tap on the x button on the far left. This is an additional step compared to what I am used this, I do this ~ 10 times a day. So, if there a way to make MiX auto-collapse search bar after I tap on a file/folder?

It sounds as if you may be comparing MiXplorer's full search to FX Explorer's filter, or as if FX Explorer has merged those two functions but for what this is worth: in MiXplorer to filter by file type: Menu > Filter > [select type]. As to the additional tap of the X button to remove the search bar, that may (or may not) be a necessary byproduct of some of the more advanced features of MiXplorer's search where you can save searches as bookmarks in which the regular toolbar is displayed instead of the search bar. To your point of many quick searches there is an extra tap each time so it would be nice if the developer could do this although I would request that it be an option rather than a one way change because there are usage cases where people may want the search bar to remain displayed.

Thanks for the clarification and extra details. In MiX, searching could be broken down into 3 categories: Filter by file type (I don't know if that is recursive), & 2 modes of the search feature, quick search & recursive/advanced search. There are other things which could be considered searches such as custom bookmarks & some modes of the gallery view but those need not be considered here ("just thinking out loud").

This is not a judgment about your request (as stated before my concern is preservation of existing options) but far as I can tell you are sort of stuck in the middle. You want the speed which is the intent of the quick search with an aspect of the advanced search, that being the restoration of the tools bar in place of the quick search bar. Fortunately the developer is clever and is likely to figure out how to do it or explain why not. Fyi, they are sometimes away from the thread for a period of time but they do follow up.

I recently switched from the free version of XDA to the Silver version.

Before, in the addons, all the ones I had installed appeared, but in the Silver version, only two appear. I do something wrong?

Another kink is that the XDA version and the Play Store version identify themselves as distinct apps, so you can have both installed. Thus, they will have different "app storage" areas. I would not expect a freshly installed Silver to have any add-ons you happened to have installed in the XDA version. I would expect you to have to install them again.
And, as @marciozomb13 said, the Silver version comes with some things built in that are add-ons in the XDA version.

And lastly, when using mobile hotspot on Android, is there a way to start ftp server on a static IP address? Even though I assign a static IP address in the wifi settings in windows, the ftp address from phone remains unchanged and keeps giving a totally random address. I don't have wifi at home which is why I have to resort to this, and ftp address changing every often is quite a hard ass hindrance.

I don't think you are looking at the right things.
Can you be more specific about what address you assigned, on what computer you made the assignment, and what the "random" address is?

Mixplorer does not make up IP addresses. Mixplorer is running on a computer, Mixplorer makes some system call to find out the current IP address of the computer, Mixplorer displays the IP address because most people have no idea of the current IP address.

When you assign a static IP address in Windows, you are telling Windows that Windows' IP address is static. Instead of Windows connecting to "the network" by *asking* what IP address it should use, it always uses the address specified.

Separately, on the router, you should do something to reserve that IP address, so that the router will not assign the same address to another device. (To the router, the Windows computer is just another device.)

I have never used a mobile hotspot. I assume it means your phone has an internet connection, and your phone will act as a router, maintaining a local wireless network. Unless you made special arrangements with your ISP, your phone does not have a static IP address -- every time it comes online, the ISP tells it what its address is. That address might not change for months at a time, but it is technically able to be changed at a moment's notice. And it doesn't matter, unless you are trying to let someone at another location access your ftp server. Another device on your local network will enroll in the network by contacting the router -- the phone -- on a fixed, internal, address. That address varies from installation to installation, but is frequently 192.168.1.1. No other device gets to pick what that address is, the router picks that address for itself. You might be able to tell the router what number to use, but that is "you, the operator". Every device that connects to the network has to be told what number to use.

I am redirected to the dropbox login and the app is accepted by dropbox then you are redirected to the callback internet page, then nothing happens. There is a link to dropbox in the app. If I want to open the folder or the link, I am again redirected to the login page of dropbox.

Yes, but in Mixplorer, before clicking on dropbox bookmark, in Mixplorer Settings (probably More Settings), do you see an option about whether Mixplorer should handle a "callback"?

I don't know the words, I don't do this, but there have been posts about similar situations, and there was a Mixplorer setting that determines whether Mixplorer handles a callback, or forwards it to a browser.
