Rename the app and use different keys. Like, MiX Pro or something.I think that would conflict with Google's self-awarded exclusive distribution rights.

I don't quite understand, MiXplorer Silver is also currently available on Samsung Galaxy Store.I think that would conflict with Google's self-awarded exclusive distribution rights.

Sure, Hootan would have to do these things, of course. The app is closed source anyway. That sounds good for a local workaround and I'm all for getting around Google's onerous restrictions but it might be prudent to ask the developer for permission before redistributing their application with a different package name through an additional App Store.
Yeah. But only if you edit a file in a subdirectory. If the file is in a root of the zip it seems to work.I m not able to edit files inside a zip or archive that was previously supported for eg. a text file inside a .zip file was edited and saced on version 6.57.6 but the same in 6.58.4 give a toast of "null output!".
anyone else with the same issue?
I read that Google will not tolerate an app being distributed, or downloading additional content, other than through Google. I didn't read the contract, so I don't know much, but I also read of someone "forced" to take the trouble to make a 2nd app to satisfy Google.I don't quite understand, MiXplorer Silver is also currently available on Samsung Galaxy Store.
The crashes happens randomly when I'm using the text editor, for example it happens when i use big files that contains thousands of line and while exploring the file it crashes also the line number in text editor next to the file contents often disappear when a file is bigger than ~1000 line or can't display more than ~500 numberHave all the crashes occurred when you tried to perform a "Find and Replace"?
Does the text editor also crash?
Have you tried to produce a minimal test case?
I think it could be happening due to code highlighting, it's very buggy (slow as well as incorrect highlighting) on my old tablet. The crashes happens randomly when I'm using the text editor, for example it happens when i use big files that contains thousands of line and while exploring the file it crashes also the line number in text editor next to the file contents often disappear when a file is bigger than ~1000 line or can't display more than ~500 number
I talked to the dev he sent me a modified version now i don't face crash issue although Arabic and Hebrew files are abit laggy and slow he said he can't do much about them at the time.I think it could be happening due to code highlighting, it's very buggy (slow as well as incorrect highlighting) on my old tablet.
Try selecting "Highlight as..." > "None" in text editor's menu.
when? what's the version number? the dev's last posting was on 5th feb 2022.... the dev he sent me a modified version... he said he can't do much about them at the time.
I emailed him, it wasn't released version.when? what's the version number? the dev's last posting was on 5th feb 2022.
isn't there a version number?
Can you guide me with answer.Even though it is not a released version (and even though we should not share unreleased material) it would still have a version # and it would be helpful to know how that version # compares to the current beta, XDA and Silver version. That information might guide others who have experienced similar issues.

1.Added sending the list of video files in the current folder to MX Player.
(From chanelog)
How to do this?
2.also may I know Is playback speed of video is possible with built-in mixplayer or we need to install codec to get playback speed option?
past 5 months now, but what is heartening is he is good about following up even while away.... the developer is sometimes away from the thread for months but is good about following up upon return.

Here is the version number
Version: 6.58.5-TEST-Silver B22070912
Btw I'm using Android 12.1
Number / names of timestamps varies by file system. I thought one of the UNIX systems did not have a creation time. I don't think FAT has access time. Is your external drive NTFS?I just checked a file properties in mixplorer. It is showing 3 timestamps like Windows; modified, changed & accessed. Doesn't android have only 1 timestamp?
I don't think I had ever heard of Birth Time. I thought ctime was Creation, but apparently it's Change, and some filesystems distinguish between changing the contents of a file, and changing the metadata. How to change the modified date of a file without root?
How do I change the modified date of a file...android.stackexchange.com
As I understood, the underlying filesystem has 4 type of TSs (btime, ctime, atime & mtime), user is only allowed to access/write mtime (modified time).
my external/pen drive is exFAT. And I saw 3 types of TS in a file from internal storage, not the external one.
I use windows, & rsync is not there.
Earlier I used MTP/usb cable/FreeFileSync to sync/backup; but with MTP, the file transfer is very slow if a folder has thousands of files.

My instinct was opposite yours: to copy a few files at odd intervals, fussing with an archive is too much trouble. To back up 9000 files, I would try to use a batch file / script, and I would take the trouble to make a tar archive. Maybe you should look into "rsync". If it preserves the timestamps, you could get it to copy only new / changed files.
Like BSPlayer, developer can simply add an option to choose swipe action. In BSPlayer, you can set swipe left/right to many actions, such as Seek/Jump/Next in Playlist etc.. For thousands of short videos, switch videos will make sense. Just like what TikTok or Youtube Shorts do. I agree that It will not make sense for a 3 hours movie, but there are different use cases.
Yeah, you are right. and I always enable auto-play option in SImple Gallery. It's just like TikTok or Youtube Shorts experience. I have thousands of or millions of short videos. I don't want to press "Play" everytime when I swipe them in a very fast manner.
Dear Sir/Madam,
One more question regarding video thumbnails over samba/sftp connections.
I have different devices. Some devices can show video thumbnails over samba/sftp successfully. But some do NOT. (The same apk. The same default options.)
I am wondering what will cause the video thumbnails not shown and how to fix it?
Thanks a lot.
I am using the same video files for testing. Everything are the same except the device. Apk installer file is the same. SFTP and Samba servers are the same servers. Network is the same network (in the same LAN). Video files are the same video files. MiXplorer options are the same default options (after fresh install).
It sounds to me that you want a media player. MiXplorer is a file manager. Everything you have requested is available in almost every media player. This app is for managing files on device. Image viewer, video player, music player, etc are add ons and are not media players. Now I'm not saying that your requests may not be implemented but you can just use mx player or Nova player or most media players to do what you are requesting. To me it just seems like you need a media player.Dear Sir/Madam,
Why is Video (content://mx/video) implementation behavior completely different from Image (content://mx/image) ?
In Image, it's the normal correct behavior to me. It's the same as other gallery apps. It shows folders and then you can tap to open the folder to see all photos inside the folder. It also takes care of .nomedia file. If a folder contains .nomedia file, it will not show that folder.
But in Video, it's a completely different story. It just show all the videos from the device. That's all. No folders. .nomedia files are ignored. I tried to look for some options to change this behavior, but no luck.
Can I make the Video show folders just like what the Image does? Especially, it should honour the .nomedia file.
Thanks a lot.
@HootanParsa Issue in 6.56-5 Silver: File date will be changed, when uploading to Nextcloud/ownCloud
When copying/moving files to Nextcloud or ownCloud, the file date of last change will be lost and replaced with current date.
Of course the option to keep the date is enabled.
Using other apps for this action, the file date is kept correctly. So it seems to work generally - unfortunately not working with MiXplorer.
I'm using Samsung devices (Android 11). Possible to fix? Thanks!
Support dark mode and light mode syncing with OS theme setting
Affirmative, it is - and it will be enforced if required. And here's the link to the FAQ and Q&A thread:
