Maybe Mixplorer supplies some terminal initialization script. Are there any settings associated with opening a terminal from Mixplorer?

I don't know of any such thing in the main settings, just the "Open terminal" prompt which includes directory, terminal emulator and remember. What about possible context sensitive options upon long press of a script or the "execute" menu option?

I'm not finding any place to long press. You don't open a file in terminal, you just open terminal and (I assume) have the default directory (current working directory, output of "pwd") set to the directory you were viewing -- I only see an "Open in terminal" option when I have *no* file selected.

When she was originally asked to add Termux as an option, @HootanParsa said she needed to know how to send an initial command to a Termux shell. Maybe she specifies a shell. Or maybe @remlap needs to learn the difference between interactive and login shell, and use another option on "chsh".

Got it. Thanks. My UI ideas can be dismissed and I defer to both you and @remlap for scripting about which I know little.

In Mixplorer -> Settings -> Components, do you have an item "Document Provider"? Is it checked?

Also, @n.p.

Curious about document providers on older devices I found an Android 7 device (LOS 14.1 rooted). It does have a "document provider" item in the list of storage options, which supports your idea that the component might be disabled. There is not much I can do with this device but if any comparisons might help I can check it out.

I am in need of some help, I am not a Linux user and I am not sure this is the right place or at the Nvidia Shield board.
I have the following:
MiX Explorer 6.58.4 Silver - Android 11 - Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 P2897

Nvidia Shield has only 16gb internal storage so I added a USB Samsung 500gb, every time I start MiX explorer, it asks me: ” Allow MiXplorer to access Portable SSD T5” if I allow it, the Samsung SSD gets disconnected, if say no, it keeps asking me every time.
How have MiX explorer have access to all drivers and have root acces?
Thank You
Mario

With external drive disconnected, do you have a Mixplorer bookmark? Delete it.
Find Mixplorer setting "use special internal driver for USB OTG". Toggle it.
Reboot. Connect external drive. Report whether it behaves differently.

Yep (as well as the other 15 items in that list).

I know that Titanium Backup on that device also uses Document Provider (to back up to the external SD card), so I don't believe that the problem exists within the Document Provider functionality itself.

I have two Android 6 devices (on which I do not have the same problem). Both of those (also) have Document Provider enabled in Components, but (also) neither of those have Document Provider available in the storage options.

True that, IIRC titanium backup was my first introduction to the document provider, and to your point the document provider functionality may not be the core issue. That being said it's odd that the option is not available on that android 7device and that could be co-symptom of or a pointer to the real problem. Document provider has definitely been around since android 7 but some ROMs especially custom ROMs are pushed into newer android versions while still holding onto some of the attributes of an older version. I don't know if that could explain the missing document provider option on that android 7device, but it would not surprise me if the solution or explanation covered both the issue you described and the missing document provider option.

Thank you for your reply
I followed your suggestion and same behavior persists.

MiX explorer was installed in the adopted storage, I uninstalled it, removed the USB drive and tried to install MiX explorer in the local storage, (16gb), however, the system took me to uninstall other applications, as it there was not enough space, there is more than 8gb free. I am only using 3.8gb.
Is there a way to install MiX explorer in the main drive?
Thank you for your help

Adoptable storage (AKA Format As Internal) where the OS uses external SD as part of "internal" storage is known for being problematic, not necessarily with MiX but in general, and when managing drives.

If you are using adopted storage ... is there any way you could test without using that, for instance with a different SD card that is not formatted as internal?

Disclaimer: if you decide to test this use caution and proceed at your own risk, making sure everything is backed up. This is one of the dilemmas about adoptable storage - removing your SD card to test another one could disrupt the system.

I think you've created a monster. I don't think "adopted storage" is freely removable -- you have told the system to "adopt" this drive and make it part of itself. The process of "adopting" may have indicated your desire to put everything possible on this "adopted" drive. The drive gets formatted to something pleasing to Android. If there's encryption on the system, I'm sure it will extend to the adopted drive.

Just how many applications do you have installed on this TV?

I don't know an easy way out of this mess. Have you tried Googling "remove adopted storage"?

If you can bring yourself to start over, maybe you don't really need to install applications to the external drive. Maybe it will be enough to get the data hogs to put their data on the external drive. Not "adopted storage", just use an external drive. Again, how many applications are involved? Do you really have a number of applications, each of which produces a great deal of data? Or do you just collect a lot of media files and need to put them on the external storage because there isn't room on internal storage? I'm pretty sure that can be handled without "adopting", and then your removable drive would still be removable.

If there's encryption on the system, I'm sure it will extend to the adopted drive.

That was it, encryption, which was the problem. IIRC, enabling adoptable storage automatically encrypted the designated drive thereby restricting some of the things that can be done with it and precluding manual backup or recovery of material eg SD card in card reader in other device

@usamartinez, if you do test this further or if you want to make any changes to your drives make sure to back-up anything that is stored on the adopted storage while the system is still configured to use it BEFORE swapping any drives. You wont be able copy that material manually to another device and I don't know what would happen to the material if you remove the drive for other test then put it back.

+1 to @J.Michael's idea of rebuilding without adopted storage if possible.

Thank you all for your replies.
I don’t have many application and I am very sure they all fit in 16gb storage.
This is a 2 weeks Nvidia Shield 2019 to replace the 2015 .
I think the best way to proceed is to factory reset the Nvidia Shield and not add the USB storage as local.
Thank you all
Mario

Among my numerous devices, only this tablet has this problem, and only this tablet has a stock ROM. I have a custom ROM on all of my devices except for this one.

A feature request on behalf of @pgorr from the FAQ

An option to show Metadata for presently playing music file display in a box similar to the lyrics box.

Original request as well as my case for this being an aid to file management and my surprise that it has not been asked for before (has it?) starting in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/mixplorer-q-a-and-faq-user-manual.3308582/post-87217221
After some testing, it turns out that Mixplorer does display metadata when playing mp3 from *internal storage*. The problem seems to be playing mp3 from cloud storage (in my case, google drive), no metadata displayed then. In addition, metadata cannot be edited.

As described in previous posts, when I tested this: although metadata could be viewed for each track manually I found no way for it to change dynamically to the next track in the same manner in which lyrics change, (which seemed to be your original request). Are you saying you have found a way to do that, to have metadata displayed per track and switch tracks automatically? If so, could you describe how you did that and perhaps share a screenshot of that particular metadata panel of information.

Yes it displays automatically per track and when tracks switched. I simply played it using mixplayer. See attached - the metadata is on the top.

Now, when the same track is played from my Google drive - see attached. No metadata displayed!

In both cases, though, nothing displayed on the car player's screen when bluetoothing.

That is Artist and Track title or filename, not metadata. Your request was for metadata. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/mixplorer-q-a-and-faq-user-manual.3308582/post-87217221
"Can anybody help with how to *automatically* display all metadata/tags while playing (such as album name, year, etc. all of which have been saved in my files)?"

If Artist and tracktitle/filename is all you need rather than full metadata as you previously described and as I brought to this thread on your behalf, perhaps then you would clean up the communication so the developer knows what it is you are asking for.

And how to properly submit a request for a new feature?

Ask the developer by one of the available means of contact such as posting in this thread or sending email.

in reading the faq and guide, it mentions SU and other things related to
root. My phone is not rooted. Can I ignore these instructions, and will it function without settings those things. Sorry for repeated posts. Just
don't want to hose up my phone. Thanks for your time.

If you don't mind my asking, which part of the FAQ stood out to give such concern? This is not to dismiss your concern, just to see if the FAQ could use a tweak. Also, for what this is worth:

    - Rooted or no, merely installing MiX will not bork the device, nor would using any features unless you specifically deleted a file that is important to something else.

    - The " Allow root" setting in MiX does not enable root on the device, it just allows you to hide or show MiX root commands in MiX if the device is rooted.

    - If the device is not rooted you will not see the root commands nor will you be able to access location which would require root, and almost all major features MiX will work.

Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately it's not quite what I expected =(
Yep, as I mentioned it somewhat does the opposite but at least demonstrates the options that do exist.

Of course, then you just can't do any operations that need root.

every version after mixplorer 6.57.x silver /beta/stable on my room (lineage os 18,android11) have two super annoying bugs :
    1) open a text file in the code editor (long enough to have vertical scroll )scroll at the bottom select a word by long pressing it (double click works as expected ), code editor suddenly scroll to the top ,very very annoying.
    2) if u click more than once (first time is fine )on the audio /video notification (from notification pane )the media player is no longer brought in focus .
can please someone confirm these 2 issues I'm an old version for months and I'd like to update mixplorer .
I can confirm your first issue:
If you open a long file in code editor and long press a part at the bottom the file will scroll up to the beginning as you said. The only helpful thing is that the markers stay at the long pressed part and a second attempt will work as expected (no up scrolling). That's not the case in text editor. Mixplorer 6.58.5.

Just wondering but why is the new version 6.58.5 not on the google play store yet?

    Thanks
Maybe because HootanParsa needs to integrate the add-ons and Google needs to check and approve the update.

    Patience 😉

    ...snip...

    2. The editor doesn't handle fields with big data in them.
    first with short text
    View attachment 5696579
now with big text (in a single field within the one row). The whole row becomes null valued. I only changed a single field, and as shown above in the create statement, all fields are not nullable
    View attachment 5696581
what made it really obvious something was amiss on first view, is that the fields MiX is showing as NULL, are NOT NULLABLE. What also threw me in my real example was that I had a case where the grid was showing it as null, but when I went in to edit that row, there was data. I couldn't create an example of that special case, and It was on a different device (which has a broken screen now, yet to be repaired)

I didnt check what happens when a field has binary data, or large binary data.

    ...snip...
@HootanParsa In case you have yet to look into the above issue, I think I may of found the cause. It seems Androids SQLite has a 2MB limit on fields.
    see answer Number 3 https://stackoverflow.com/questions...ception-couldnt-read-row-0-col-0-from-cursorw
    which takes you to https://github.com/aosp-mirror/plat...af415821/core/res/res/values/config.xml#L1910
    which has
    Code:
<!-- When a database query is executed, the results returned are paginated
in pages of size (in KB) indicated by this value -->
    <integer name="config_cursorWindowSize">2048</integer>

The thing that threw me a little is that SQLite3 from the shell can retrieve >11MB of data, when a single field is selected, and I can save 11MB into a field within my app. I havent tested when retrieving multiple fields (inc the big one) from the shell. Also, just as an FYI, I created this data while pushing my own app to the extreme, to test boundary conditions, by removing all size limits, to see how it behaves; its not the size its meant to save. I also checked another database specific app I use to use (only works on Oreo or before), and it has the same issue as MiX's sqlite editor.
