Yes beta created for the purpose of testing. which is what we are doing, and in the absence of clarity, and in the face of inconsistent app behavior we share these observations.
but there should be a better way to do it (like a bugtrack thread).
That has been suggested in the past by people who don't like the conversational nature of this thread, and I agreed at the time so the FAQ was born, but most people don't use the FAQ and our host is known for being accommodating of those wider conversations so they occur here (and the conversation in question is more on topic than many others). That being said, one of the benefits of a tracker would be that the conversations about different issues will not overlap as each would have their own thread.
IMO, that is in part a reflection of the confusion created by the recent changes and by incomplete reports. Now, we finally have clarity about expected behavior and about remaining issues, which is good because without knowing expectations it's difficult to test the beta version.
[EDIT] @temporarium, IMO my level of involvement and verbosity might make a better object for feedback about thread bloat than the recent conversation about beta.
