I have seen posts here recently about updating the non-Play version and I have been having those also. Today, I am getting a popup to install or update the PDF add-on, despite having done it multiple times and MiX says it is up-to-date.




Unrelated, and purposely vague... for quite some time I have been having issues with MiX temporarily freezing, to the extent that Android pops up the "app not responding" message with a choice of "wait" or "end app". I particularly see this after installing an APK with an app installer through MiX, but it also happens at other times. I am mainly interested in knowing if others experience this generally, or it relates to my personal setup.

I recently started using Google Drive with MiX much more and I have the same "issue" reported, startup lock is off. It seems, as reported, that you can dismiss the fingerprint and password and still get access. I "believe" MiX will not ask for access again as long as it is still in memory.

Is this also just with Google Drive or is it just that google drive is the last tab open ? reason for asking is I am trying to recreate this, I turn Startup lock on, close mix and swipe it out of recents, open mix and I get the security pop up, app opens, if I try to cancel and dont give my fingerprint then the app closes, I get the same behaviour on both silver (Version 6.59.1-Silver) from the playstore and the stable beta from google drive (Version 6.59.0).
Sounds like something has gone wrong as you are getting the pop up but can dismiss it and still get access, could I get you to try and enable startup lock to see if you can still bypass it by dismissing then try disabling startup lock and see if you still get the popup that you can bypass ?

There was an update to the pdf reader in the playstore dated 1 Feb, I think that message in your screenshot means you are on the latest app version of mixplorer, you need to go into the addon menu in settings to get the latest version of the addons like the pdf reader etc

A few days ago when all three XDA versions of MiX were from January 29, on a device running MiX XDA 6.58, there was an available update to 6.59x (but I did not install it). Now, when attempting to update from 6.58.x there is no available update AND perhaps not coincidentally the regular XDA version at the website is now from February 1st. I'm hoping that Ijust missed the Jan 29 update and that the Feb 1 update has not made it to in app update yet. If anyone else has successfully update in-app (not manual download) to MiXplorer_v6.59.1_B23020180.apk please do tell.

After reading your comment i checked the google drive location and found that there is another new beta MiXplorer_v6.59.2-Beta_B23020220, installing it has now resulted in 3 mixplorer installations which i am taking to be a beta, a playstore and a non playstore stable, the new beta has no in app update option

Thanks, that explains why I'm not seeing the update. In the time since I downloaded the beta an hour ago there is a new version which is still in the pipes to the in app update.

Yes: XDA, BETA and Silver can be installed side-by-side but be mindful of shared components. EG in one version of MiX you could delete the .recycle folder which contains material from another version. Also, when parallel versions are installed care should be taken when selecting activities in order to make sure the activity corresponding to the MiXplorer version being used are selected. Lastly, yes, beta has no in app update.

Lol Yeah been caught out before importing settings to the wrong version,took me a while to notice the difference in icons for the 3 versions, silver has a silver band round a circle icon the non playstore version has a square icon and the beta is a plain round icon (i think)

That popup specifies that I need to update the PDF addon, the app update I got a day or two earlier. Everything IS updated to my knowledge. Also, the settings say all updates are completed but it still throws that message. I think this relates to how the app updates outside the Play Store version.

When I first got notified of the app update, I saw NO MiX versions on Drive, just the addon folders. I kept checking and eventually it appeared.

I am often finding lately that nothing seems to actually be downloaded when you use the in-app download links, or if it is downloading, it isn't going to my download folder, where it should be and always has.

I have performed some tests and I am going to provide a lot of information about what I am personally experiencing, but I don't have many answers and some issues may be to my lack of knowledge.

MiX requiring a fingerprint (or swipe pattern / pin #) to access a saved Drive account:

First off, I cannot personally recreate being able to dismiss the password prompt and still access Drive, if I don't provide some form of password, Drive cannot be accessed. (I have issues with fingerprint identification on my phone and I may have been unlocking it with my fingerprint and not realizing I had actually unlocked it.)

I don't believe the startup lock setting has anything to do with this. If I enable startup lock, I am asked for a password when I first start MiX, it is not relevant to accessing Drive (same either way).

I started to add my Drive account again in MiX and I see there are advanced settings that I expect relate to this. IronTechmonkey mentions these in his wonderful FAQ thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/mixplorer-q-a-and-faq-user-manual.3308582/post-80301547), but there is no explanation how to set them?



When I add Drive in Solid Explorer, I am explicitly asked if I want to password protect the connection. MiX appears to automatically password protect and allow this behavior to be changed with the advanced settings when adding the account.

I have exactly the same behaviour on my end. PDF addon claims it needs update, but Play version is latest (2023-02-01) and no update, just uninstall option available. Version on GDrive is even older than Play version.

Anyone willing to uninstall the PDF add-on before reinstalling it, to see if Mixplorer stops saying it almost needs to be updated?

Please: no more than half the people seeing the problem do this, so there will still be test cases if @HootanParsa wants to pursue it.

After reading the posts of people facing the 'need to update' issues, I downloaded the latest versions of the PDF addon and the Mixplorer beta and first installed the PDF addon followed by the beta. I haven't had any 'need to update' issues.

Something like :

... That I can copy to get the files. Any "Download" buttons in there are useless to me.

You may not be able to browse up to this point but on the page where we are warned about virus scanning there is a hyperlink in addition to the download button and that hyperlink can be copied.. for what it's worth...

Regarding the PDF add-on, people might want to wait until the next update of the app, which is stalled in the in-app update. The PDF add on seems to have been updated in conjunction with the app and the problems updating maybe the same as what I described a few posts ago regarding the main app. There was a small window in which to update but I missed it and then a new version was posted and I'm now waiting for that to clear for downloading. It seems that I have no app update but there have actually been two since I last checked. It could be the same case for the PDF add on. In any case it is not uncommon for there to be a bit of a lag like this as the updates play through.

Thank you. That second link works, but I can't get to it myself. Loop redirect again and again or just errors.

Obviously I can't ask someone else everytime I want to download, and I'm not disabling safety or security settings either. So sick of this company -- no Google, I *do not* need to "learn more".

MiX XDA version 6.59.1 B23020180 is now available through in app update and at download page.

MiX PDF add-on updated from 1.11 to 1.13 is available at the MiX download page (and probably also in app update) and at Play-store.

The combination of MiX app 6.59.1 and MiX PDF add-on 1.13 does not seem to prompt for PDF add-on compatibility. Confusion about PDF add-on may derive from the fact that it is available for XDA version of MiX via in-app update (or manual install) and at Playstore. This might explain why some people never saw a prompt about mismatched PDF add-on version, as the add-on might have been installed via play store while we were installing or waiting to install the app update manually or by in app updater. Additionally, one of the key points in the most recent app update is related to PDFs. In any event, all parts of the matched set seem to be available at the moment.
