Hi IronTechmonkey,

Thanks for the follow up.

The main app + addons are all updated.
I checked out the faqs, including the nuggets, and all of the relevant folders are given write permissions.

I went to Settings/More settings and unchecked "Enable OTG
Custom driver for USB OTG" which I figured would be the fix finally, but the same error pop-up is being displayed.

Not sure what else to try...

Typicaly, disabling custom OTG driver is one of the first recomendations Mix's dev makes in such cases, followed by creating document poviders followed by trying alternate path. If you've tried those things, then I'm not sure what to try next except maybe search thread for unique segments of the error while waiting to see what the dev says.

P.s. I see the new Tips section in Mixplorer playstore description.
I like it so much, specially thinking to the new users who cannot be aware of all the features Mixplorer has...
Pheraphs you could think to collect more and adding a section in the about popup along with the changelog and faq. I am sure that the 90% Mixplorer users know only the 50% of the features. Only one person know all the features.
Guess who 😄

Thanks for mentioning the tips section. It's an interesting cross-section of things that are helpful to new users especially those coming through the Play Store who don't follow XDA. Since HootanParsa chose to make these tips the among the first that people would see it makes sense to elevate them in the FAQ.

From Playstore, MiXplorer, details:
"Tips:
• Tap on ADD in bottom toolbar + Storage + Document provider + Find & select your USB or other drives.
• Swipe the bookmark item to the right to delete or edit it.
• The default user for the servers is 'Admin'.
• Long-press on the items & buttons for more options."

Document providers is one of the first topics mentioned in the FAQ and long press is well represented but the other items and perhaps some unmentioned ones from users could become a short list in the first FAQ post. There's some old fluff which could be removed to make room. I'll solicit advice for that in the FAQ thread before long. Thanks again.

@HootanParsa
Very dangerous bug/behaviour.

Just tried app remnants tool and the list shows also my internal storage documents folder...a click on the X on the right and the user will lost all the files inside it...😰😱

could you please check this and pheraphs adding a popup to ensure the user want really delete a folder when the folder size is great...or you will find a better solution...

See picture

EDIT: Forgot to mention that there is also a button in that popup "Remove All". I obviously didn't try it but most probably it deletes all without warning...in any case very risky operation!

That sounded scary enough to be worth a test so I attempted to reproduce the issue on 2 devices, stock Moto A10 rooted (MiX 6.63.1 and 6.63.4) and stock Moto A11 rooted (MiX 6.63.1). In those tests the native documents folder on internal storage was not found by the remnants scanner but other important user and app created folders were found. Also a folder called Recordings in root of internal storage which may or may not be an OS folder. As to the documents folder, my test results do not to disagree with the report (nor were they intended to) but do reveal some potential variation across devices. In this case different ways the OS manages drives, or different ways MiXplorer sees the drives, or the ways MiXplorer identifies material to present in the remnants list could all be reasons for the variation.

That documents folder, being a native OS folder is obviously of highest priority but as to other folders not to be deleted, they include material for an app which synchronizes files, contacts and more between devices (like old BB PIM Sync - and critical to me), an app which records calls, and an app which tracks, maps and routes rides (cycling).

This brings me back to previous discussion about the hazards of such a utility as the remnants cleaner. To be clear I'm not arguing against it or saying it's bad or that MiXplorer should not offer it, I'm merely describing why I am concerned about and it and I'm suggesting some things to protect users from lost data. Even dedicated cleaning apps such as SD maid will sometimes find folders which seem to be strays but which are actually created by apps and used by them... but dedicated cleaner apps, in addition to offering detailed configuration options, also offer a way to exempt items permanently from future scans.

Request: MiXplorer does a fairly good job at finding remnants even without such configuration options and it may not be practical to add those options but it would be nice if there were a way to permanently exempt specific items from the remnant scanner. If there is already a way to do this then there is another FAQ nugget to write. If that is deemed not practical then perhaps at least there could be a prominent warning on the App Remnant panel.

I understand it's not easy to test, but my impression from your screenshot is that each item is identifying a "remnant" and its location. So, rather than being on the verge of deleting all of internal storage, it was identifying one item located in internal storage, and offering to delete that one item.

Like @IronTechmonkey said, some of those items might be important to somebody, and their loss might be damaging, but that is still less dire than declaring all of internal storage to be a "remnant".

Hmm...no. this tool was made as cleaning tool, for saving space purposes like the duplicate search. it was intended to remove app data for applications no long installed on device, since older android versions let app data on device on uninstall operation. it should find only for those folders...
Anyway if you look at my screenshot some paths belongs to my sdcard and not only to my internal storage...
I know that in newer android versions something is changed regarding unnstalled apps data. New android versions haven't this problem anymore since when uninstall an app the data linked to that package name is also removed...So this tool is useful for older android version but should be better tuned for avoiding data loss...
I know it is not so simple because there are a lot of android versions and a lot of variants but better removing a potential dangerous tool than having it and taking the risk that some user loss some important data. you agree with me that is a non sense...

To be clear, I share @simonbellu's concern about the documents directory in toto, and see that as higher priority than the additional details I added about folders created in the root of internal storage (by users or apps). I was just making a pitch for an an option to exempt (impractical even if possible?) or a warning (not enough protection?), but that would be secondary to preserving the documents folder. In either case, since it has been mentioned, I'm +1 to removal.

Not tested, but do remnants tool deletions end up in the MiXplorer recycle bin?

My remnants tool check pulls up stuff I wouldn't want deleted permanently so I'd +1 this too for those hardcore users that don't enable the bin.
I deleted some remnants and they was deleted without prompt and Even if I had recycle bin enabled

I consider the fact HootanParsa is a great developer. I can say this from my long experience in this thread. It seems strange to me that there is a bug of this type and I'm sure that something has changed over time in remnants tool.
As I said before having an app like Mixplorer that basically does everything (for this reason I wrote jokingly "make me an unsweetened coffe too") has its cons since is very very hard for the developer to cover all android versions issues for every feature...this thread was made precisely for this reason. The most important part in developing an app is NOT writing code lines....but testing the code you write...Every developer know this. With this preface I want to point out two things:

1. I don't said the remnants tool must be removed. And I do not think this thread is made for voting to make new features or to remove them. This is up to the developer and not to the users personal taste....

2. The only criticism I feel like making is a personal criticism as I am a very precise and accurate person in general.
I would like to have many fewer well-tested and efficient things rather than many that are not well-made and poorly cared for.... This was a feel that I had since I starting use Mixplorer but I do not blame the developer for this. It is a choise.

And since he himself says: "Life is short"...so apologies for this long post intended not as polemical but as constructive and motivating

1. I don't said the remnants tool must be removed.

Here,

You stated:
"but better removing a potential dangerous tool than having it and taking the risk that some user loss some important data."

That statement seems to suggest that the tool should be removed. If that is an incorrect interpretation then please clarify what your statement was intended to convey. Also, even though you seemed to suggest the removal of the tool I was cautious and made sure not to explicitly say that you did so.
Here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...y-featured-file-manager.1523691/post-88994297
I stated:
"I share @simonbellu's concern about the documents directory" (in other words I agree with what you're saying about that)... and... since it has been mentioned, I'm +1 to removal.. "

I did not say you suggested the removal of the tool (even though you did seem to suggest its removal). I said "since it [the idea of removal] was mentioned". I left the +1 because you did seem to be suggesting the removal of the tool, but if my interpretation of that statement is incorrect then please clarify, and if your intent was not to suggest removing the utility then I will modify that +1 comment if you are bothered by it.

And I do not think this thread is made for voting to make new features or to remove them. This is up to the developer and not to the users personal taste....

This is an open development forum where we are free to express our opinions, in fact that is part of the purpose. You expressed your opinion (then later seemed to deny that you did so) and then I expressed my opinion and other people expressed their opinions. Yes, these decisions are up to the developer but part of that decision-making process is the opinion of users. If all users don't like something then the developer might not include it because it would be bad for app distribution. This is especially the case when there are potential hazards such as with remnant scanner, in which case it is entirely reasonable for people to suggest modifying the utility or removing it.

You seem to see these varied opinions as "votes" but again this is an open forum and those varied opinions which you call votes are reasonable and productive input whether they are in agreement with you or not. The desire to shut down discussion after sharing an opinion but before anyone else can state their opinions is not in alignment with the purpose of open forums such as this.

2. The only criticism I feel like making is a personal criticism

Once again you resort to personal attacks. I have neither misrepresented what you have said (even though you have misrepresented what I have said) nor have I attacked you. Please refrain from your own personal attacks. That fact that you don't use a name makes them no less inappropriate.

P.S. You said you would ignore me. What happened?

Dear @IronTechmonkey, the fact that I do not like you (I mean your behaviour in this thread) does not means that you are always the subject of my posts....I can assure you that it is not this the case. Pheraps sometimes we should follow the last moderator tip about breathing exercise before writing something...when you are a little more calm you can reading again my post and you will see that you saw things I haven't written... the personal criticism was referred to the developer. Not to you. Please avoid unnecessary further off topic. I reply to you the shorter I can. Hope you appreciate it.

Not as expected then.

Probably needs a @HootanParsa intervention.

If you have Recycle Bin enabled, don't you expect to delete without a prompt?

The question is, did the deleted remnants go into the Recycle Bin?

At this point it seems that the items found by the remnant scanner are not sent to the recycle bin but if they were sent there, then might the various "remember" settings for undo/recycle have any bearing? I don't recall the current arrangement of the settings because I don't use those features but thought it might be worth considering (or dismissing) the aforementioned notion.

You can agree but what is all that about telling me to calm down? Are you the gatekeeper for the Dev? I'll just stop using the software. Xplore is wonderful as well. Have a good one
Hi, I am sorry you leave this thread. Your gesture problem and your request was totally understandable. You said you use Xplore. How do you manage your gesture issue in Xplore since I know it has a dual panel UI?
Has Xplore an option for disabling horizontal gestures? Just curios. Thank you

I suspect the Sections option is causing this. Try disabling it in Sort>Options. There are actually 4 columns in your "Chess" folder, but each item is in the first column of a new section. In the "Дебюты" folder, your videos occupy all 4 columns within the same section, which is based on the initial character (Д) of their names.

I have almost all folders with this problem!
But when I reached the last folder, I saw a normal display there...
Maybe this is a problem if folder has a subfolder?

    I doubted it too
I tried displaying grid in a place with a similar configuration, but it still succeeded normally
I also thought that file names like Cyrillic could be bad (which sometimes causes problems in my language)
If someone who knows more about me here can't easily come up with a solution
You may want to attach the smallest folder structure and image that can be reproduced in a zip, and then log and

Oh,and If it is me, I may check if the Mix image add-on is not old.😇

    i searched FAQ word ->grid
grid button has OPTION I didn't know about pinch and zoom too,
so please take a look at it because there were things that might be helpful.
(I zoomed in and it didn't come back, so II have to fight this)

It seems that in the latest silver update the issue that caused Mixplorer crashing when scrolling WhatsApp images folder is fixed. I like this fix very much! Good!

What we exoect in the future is a vocal command like alexa or google for all the common operations. Something like this: " Hey Mix, rename all files in this folder from xxx to yyy....and after that do not forget to make me a good cup of coffee. Unsweetened please...:):)"

    bug(?)
On the latest versions (Version: 6.64.1-BETA/6.64.0 & Silver) it is not possible to create a new text file (only .txt, other formats - no problem) in Russian localization. Confirmed by several users.

I can't attach the log, because this moment is not displayed there at all.
