From what I read in another thread here on xda, Solid Explorer can access android/data. Tried it a minute ago and it really works - without root. So it is possible. How they do it? No clue. That's up to @HootanParsa to reverse/find out.
I think there was talk that if an app targets SDK29 (or maybe lower), it will act as it did in A10. Although the doc below explicitly states that scoped storage on A11 is enforced, regardless of your SDK.

I also recentl;y read the following when looking up for something totally unrelated. It talks of various ways to side step the new scoped storage. But from memory, I think its all about external SD not the internal data partition.

Without reading it too carefully (I was looking for something totally unrelated), I would assume that having a backdoor would negate the security fix.

I remember some mention of a Filemanager permission -- maybe "permission" is the wrong word. Maybe it also involves @HootanParsa prostrating himself before Google, begging the boon of being recognized as worthy. Given the way he's been betrayed by someone in the Play Console hierarchy, I'm not surprised if he hasn't applied.

Google would not listen to @HootanParsa. He is but one person, where there are millions of other android users they are trying to protect. I have dealt with the playstore "gods" before. They are not high up in the android decision making process at all. The actual limitations of scoped storage makes sense to me, security wise. If anything, the thing that personally bugs me a little, is that I have to switch the root namespace to global for every root app. I would of liked to only specifically change the namespace to global for selected apps. But that is magisk not android/google or MiX, and once I allow an app root, there must be some trust.

I would like to try to remove the namespace change in magisk, and try the various shell commands they give in the above document I linked, to see if it has any effect.

Internet Explorer 11 on a Windows 7 desktop can generate MHT webpage archive files (one file containing all html and images/css files in it).

But if I try to open one of these MHT file in MiX, it opens in a text mode displaying html text and not the original webpage with embedded images in it.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Open as an archive not a text

Open as an archive not a text
I was originally selecting "HTML Viewer" when I tapped on the file.

But "archive" is not listed in the first pop-up dialog, so I had to select "open as..." in that first dialog that appears, then select "Archive" in the second pop-up, then select "HTML Viewer" in the third dialog and then it did display the webpage properly.

That is kind of non-intuitive to do that whole process, so I hope it will be made easier in a future version of MiX.

@HootanParsa I got 2 little requests.
HTML Viewer can view xlsx, but can't view xls. Great thing about Mix is that it's html viewer can view spreadsheets (xlsx) & documents (docx) too. Somehow I can't open xls with it...but can view xlsx.

On cloud storages like Google drive, we're able to open text files (.txt) only through code editor, we need text editor there too.

Also is it possible to also view slides (ppt) somehow? Caz if I can view those, means I can remove those ****ty big office apps that view docs, sheets & slides.

Does Internet Explorer open the archive files easily?

Isn't ".xls" "Excel Spreadsheet"?
Yes. Great thing about Mix is that it's html viewer can view spreadsheets (xlsx) & documents (docx) too. Somehow I can't open xls with it...but can view xlsx.

Caz I don't wanna hang on some chinese WPS or heavy bloated Google docs, sheets, or ms office.
The only thing I miss in Mix html viewer is viewing presentations (ppt).

SDK 30 is not considered BETA by Google, its live. However, it is still being developed. Which, is also a reason to stop using SDK29, as its no longer being developed (or not having as much time expended on it). The restriction you have come across is not because SDK is less in any way than SDK29, but BECAUSE it is more developed in line where google have chosen to direct Android and in particular, its security.
I would be really happy to be a part of development and to be used as a free beta-testing platform, but unfortunately I want a working device and want to spend my own time for my own life rather than for someone's development.

Reverted to a working 6.53.5 (by the way 6.53.6 and 6.53.7 those were mentioned here are also affected - don't use them).

To be clear; no one here has criticized you for preferring a stable installation and not wanting to spend time troubleshooting (and the information you've provided about version numbers is informative) but...The developer whose work you use has their own life as do the people who test and report. If you don't want to test, that's fine but then don't backhandedly insult those who do make time for development and testing by implying that doing so is to not have other responsibilities no less important than yours.

Hello guys,

I've been using mixplorer since Android 8.
It was working great in everything I needed until Android 10... Unfortunately, the last week, when I upgraded from 10 to 11, I lost USB OTG recognition. I also tried enabling the special driver you offer in the settings but that was good only for viewing the USB OTG's content, because i couldn't copy, cut and generally modify the USB OTG's files...
Is there anything I can do to fix my problem or it's just an app-related bug?

Thanks in advance!

That is kind of non-intuitive to do that process, so I hope I will remember that THREE step process in the future.
If I download a web page with a Chromium browser on Android, for some reason it is saved with no file extension. If I click on that with MiX, the Open As menu comes up. If I select Archive, then the HTML Viewer is not an option. If I select Text, I can then open it with the HTML Viewer.

I don't know why this works differently for me, unless the Chromium file is different than the Internet Explorer 11 file. If I add a MHT or MHTML extension to the Chromium file and click on it with MiX, I directly get the Open With menu with HTML Viewer as an option.

MHT files are in fact archive files because they contain all the images and other support files like CSS that the HTML webpage needs in that same archive. The MHT archive process then modifies all the links in the main HTML page so they will instead point to these local copies of the images and css files instead of them linking to their original external (online) sources. This way, with a proper MHT viewer, the webpage can be later displayed even if those external files are no longer available online.

When you save a webpage in chromium, I'm guessing it just saves the HTML code of that one page and leaves all the links as-is so they still point to online resources. So, If you view this file right away, it will display the webpage the same as when you just saved it. The problem with this method is that if you are offline or if one or more of the external reference of that page no longer exists online, the displayed webpage will be corrupt/missing parts of it when you try to display it at a later date. You can test this theory out by saving a webpage in chromium, then turn your phone offline (airplane mode) and then clear your browser's cache (so any shadows of those files are erased), then try to open that webpage file - it will probably be missing all of the images in that page and the format of that page may be messed up because that webpage requires access to those external links, but they are being blocked by airplane mode.

So, if you save a webpage in chromium, and then try to view it years later, it will probably be all messed up because one or more of the external files no longer exist.

But with an MHT file, the webpage will appear just like it originally did because all of the externally referenced files were included in the archive, so it doesn't need any external files anymore.

As far as I know, only Internet Explorer can make MHT files (using the "Save as..." dialog).

For the record, and aware that we're off-topic, Firefox has a feature to save web pages in PDF format. Which is not ideal nor have I personally any liking for it ( for web or code developing this is not useful at all ), since it is essentially a full page screenshot, but anyway, still useful for reading or viewing offline static content, which may be the sole purpose of someone using MHT.

Edit : ... ( Bringing it back to MiX ! ) ... Aaaand MiX has a PDF reader.

Ok guys, thanks. I'm feeling lazy to search and read rn

Xda search is junk, can't search if not login (i browse on incognito), timeline is messed up 😛

    Hello and good morning, @ledagiw

If you're too lazy to search prior to posting you demonstrate your unwillingness to follow the XDA Forum Rules, to which you agreed to adhere when you registered a year ago. After a year, please consider to review them and note paragraph one:
    1. Search before posting.

Use one of our search functions before posting or creating a new thread. Whether you have a question or just something new to share, it's very likely that someone has already asked that question or shared that news.
It's irrelevant why you don't want to follow the rules but if you don't it will eventually lead to consequences to your account. I'm convinced this is something you want to avoid.

With apologies to thread-mates and moderators who know that I have no official standing but that I do have opinions. I intended to send this by PM yesterday, but said user with PM blocked seems interested only in taking and flaming, not in receiving viable input.

Go ahead, ban me. Reason: not use search function
That would be the greatest joke of all time to tell my grandkids
And don't be weak by deleting post instead of addressing the issue, this site obviously horde justice warrior, with the guy inisiated the quarrel, yet you only delete mine.

Please put your shovel away as it is not helping you. You used incognito mode as an excuse and you got reasonably called out. Throughout you were willfully ignorant of or unwilling to follow rules which all of us agreed to follow, as if some exception should be made for you. There's no reason, particularly your own laziness and lack of contribution, which should be anyone else's motivation to do your work for you. You had a chance to participate and learn about a significant development topic but refused to do your part. Any failing in this regard is yours.

As to the topic about which you inquired, if the available documentation does not answer your questions or if it is not clear (it is a indeed a bit sprawling) then feel free to inquire about it or provide feedback in the FAQ https://xdaforums.com/t/mixplorer-q-a-and-faq-user-manual.3308582/. You already have the links for Google and XDA search and you did not even have to do any of the legwork to get those. ;)

You said "use an alternative" in your post.

Is there any possibility to open a different viewing app out of MiXExplorer instead of ImageViewer which would allow swiping through the whole folder?

If I click "open with" and choose Google Photos for example only the one picture opened opens in Google Photos and I cannot swipe through the whole folder like I can in ImageViewer.

Google severely restricts access to files, MIX's image viewer can handle viewing files better because it has permissions to handle all files. Use a gallery application that you can give permissions to handle all files to, for instance this one, open-source, with no trackers or malvertising :

FYI, people here aren't on call for immediate response, and 47 minutes is an unreasonably short period of time within which to expect another response even if the first one did not meet your expectations (although at least is was not a full ping with @ symbol). It was not even enough time for others who might have helpful advice or even support of your request to jump in. I was writing a post on your behalf containing a comparison which was absent from your question, but didn't even have time to do that before you bumped the question.

Please give people time to respond. You happened to have gotten a reply from one of MiXplorer's most experienced Skinners and Themers (not me). Even if there has been some misunderstanding the answer may be worth the wait... or not... but wait is what we are expected to do in such cases. More details about your question in a moment.
