[APP][2.2+] MiXplorer v6.x Released (fully-featured file manager)

Hi,

I have a strange relationship with the media window appearing when I choose to use the MixPlorer for playing selected media. The symptoms are probably the same for the last year or maybe more.
The device is Meizu brand, Android 7.1 device with MixPlorer 6.58.4-Silver B22020630
All the symptoms below are about the state when I chose a media file in the list and preferred to use the silver version for the playing permanently (the round icon in the dialog. This is importand because I have a non-silver version also installed for testing purposed with non-round icon).

The symptoms of the issue are:
1. After some time the auto lock is fired, the sound is continuing. If I unlock the phone, I always see not the media window, but the MixPlorer list from which I activated it. If after that I find the window in the android recent app list and activate it, the window will stop playing then seek to the exact position that was when the player started and starts playing again.
2. Sometimes to avoid the issue 1, I try to use the micro-player in the notification shade instead of trying to navigate to the media player window so the following symptoms is about using the micro-player. After the media has started, I hear the sound, I may navigate to another app, I successfully can return to the media window by tapping on this micro-player, and the sound won't break as with symptom n.1. But this successful control and navigation is usually possible only for some time. So comes the issue n.3
3. The next issue with the micro-player is that when I did something on the phone, maybe switched to another app, maybe just listened to the audio for a while, I still see the micro-player in the shade, I hear the sound, I can pause and resume but when tap on the notification nothing will show. It looks like the system tries to popup the MixPlorer media window but fails.
4. And finally, if I stopped the micro-player and lived with this state for a while and go to the notification shade, I still see the notification micro-player with the buttons, but I no longer can pause and resume and tapping still leads to nothing

I suspect that these symptoms are only present in my custom android device (as many chineese phones are), otherwise they would already be addressed. So maybe I can use some MixPlorer or system setting in order to make things better.

Also some note about my device. There was a time when this device was bundled with default crapware so almost always switching to some app led to kicking all previous apps from the memory. But after rooting and cleaining this is longer gone, so I can have a couple of comparatively heavy apps switching between one another and keeping in memory so given how slim MixPlorer is, I don't think the system thinks it's too heavy to keep in memory for a while.

And no, the options for toolbar in MixPlorer doesn't have this

Thanks for answering that question. Since I don't fully understand the request I'll take your word for it.

Both, TC & MixPlorer, are amongst the top 5 apps for many coders.

Same for Systems and Admins and IT Support, MiX and TC are both the first apps on any new device for me as well (but not for non admin users - don't want them to see too much).

With due respect, I addressed my feature request to Hootan ...I presume he read it, also I presume most requests are not implemented.

HootanParsa is very good at reading and answering requests and sometimes for implementing them in clever ways even when people think it might not happen. Don't give up hope on that.

The Copy/Move Button in dual pane mode.

Aha, there is the crux of the request which I previously overlooked. Now I can explore the possibilities. With "Dual panel in landscape" and "Full dual panel" enabled I see file copy and move buttons in toolbar after items are selected but maybe those are not what you want. Personally I have no interest such a new the setting but I also have no objection, nor do I expect you to discuss it with me if you prefer to discuss it with the developer. I'm exploring this to make sure that none of the settings are missing from the MiX FAQ Settings post.

FWIW, I occasionally use multiple versions of MiX as well (on devices which may be more mainstream than yours) and on one or two occasions got confusing test results about a particular issue and eventually had to install just one version of MiX to be sure about what I was seeing. At the time I thought the confusing results were due to the possibility that some add-ons seem to be shared between the different versions of MiX. After all, the way the add-ons are bundled is the most notable difference between the versions. If you have time, for testing purposes you could test with variations of the add-ons.

I just saw this selected post in my footer of mobile view. So Dev is still kind enough to have time for app despite being busy. I too am short of time & simply can not read other posts in this long thread or any thread. So dear Dev/OP, I'm sure you understand as a busy adult with responsibilities you too, like me, don't have much spare time for whatever.

So if I miss your future posts here & don't reply (I will definitely not reply to others as I said my post was for you), I apologize to you dear Hootan if not seeing your future post(s), as not much time for forums these days, like yourself.

1) Copy/Button button on Toolbar: My request is explained on this page & previous. It's the most vital feature for any dual pane file manager.

2) ALL PLUGINS AVAILABLE: Also please make your many many wonderful plugins show up in Android app too as only a few show & I had to hunt around for many of your plugins for manual download & side-load install. Play store simply doesn't show most, on most devices. Maybe a central webpage of ALL PLUGINS? Like Ghisler has all plugins listed on a webpage which you might have seen ?

Although we do have to install add-ons for XDA MiX manually we don't have to hunt around for them. Since most of them were removed from Play Store they have been available like so (as described in FAQ and linked within App):

"Add-ons: MiXplorer Add-ons can be installed from within the app like this:
Settings > Addons > and click add button > follow links to browse and download appropriate add-ons."

So, there is a already central webpage for the add-ons but, to your point, it could easier to navigate through them especially on handheld devices with smalls screens. If you are also suggesting some form of link to directly install from within app, other people might be +1.

Regarding plugins, As I said a few minutes ago, only a couple of plugins show. And as I said no other add-ons are available, ie: no items! The only way to have your many add-ons (that's your many wonderful arm64 plugins) is exactly what I said before. So everything I said remains true on each of my many phones. You yourself know the issue well. And my point regarding them stands. I've gone through all your menu options & submenu options several times for weeks.

Furthermore I think when creating a webpage for your many wonderful plugins:

i) Separate them by category in paragraphs (by processor etc) on that webpage. Many simple users are not experienced coders like me or your, if you list them all mixed up.

ii) Create a link to your add-ons webpage like Ghisler has in (in his settings: Configure) which then opens his webpage (option: Add Plugins (download)...). You can put it in your About menu, then a new option in the current pop-up msg_box.

Currently there are only 4 add-ons on your webpage.

On my main phone I have more than that installed via side-load.

On fresh install, on my test phone (I have many phones, half are Linux, this is for fresh install & tests), only two will show & your other two not available. So no consistency & best way is side-load of your apks for more than 2 or even 4.

Maybe have a webpage buried & only accessible via About pop-up link? Or if too much work as maintaining them, maybe a link only in your OP here & mention a caveat not all plugins are maintained & not guaranteed to work on all Android versions & phone models.

Most of your plugins I hunted down from old pages & alt stores, actually still work. I backed them up too.

So everything I said before is still true, as you yourself know better than anyone. Thanks again.

Recent suggestions for optimizing the delivery of add-ons aside, here is a point of clarification about obtaining add-ons:

There is a website which includes all currently active MiX add-ons as well as recent beta, release, and custom API versions of the MiX app. The app versions are in root of directory and the add-ons are each in their own folder, with each folder containing sub versions for various architecture as is common for such distribution.

This is not to say that the page or the process of obtaining add-ons could not be optimized but the page does exist and is accessible directly through Settings > add-ons > Add. Note, if all add-ons are already installed the add button will not take you to the page. To the point of recent requests a permanent link would be nice and on mobile devices the website could be easier to navigate but that may be a Google limitation which HootanParsa spoke to at some point in the past. In a desktop browser it looks quite nice although that might not be the way most people prefer to download add-ons.

Dear Hootan,
As I said & as many people discover: there are actually several places for your old add-ons. Not just one. All of which I downloaded months ago & replaced older ones with more recent versions, yes newer versions elsewhere too.
Consolidating all of them by yourself into versions you know are most suitable, will be another benefit.

As to my main feature request for Copy/Move button (2nd from left on bottom toolbar of TC & usually bottom bar of desktop FM applications like NC etc), here's a screen shot from TC: notice selected item tick (can have multi selection files/folders too just like yours) & popup options. Initially only Copy or Move are needed. Notice the other pane (can swipe to it like your app) is the destination (Download). Later you can add more features as you deem fit.

Most famous DOS/windows desktop dual pane file manager applications have F5 keyboard shortcut for this button on their toolbar, for decades which gives a similar popup: Copy or Move option being Paramount & common too all of them. Hence my suggestion.

Starting from version 6.57.5 after closing the application, the entrance to the mail.ru cloud is reset - checked and confirmed on the forum and all phones.. Please fix it in the next update.

FYI, about a year ago someone else had a similar experience. I was able to find their posts by searching the thread for "mail.ru" but lost the link. After an update they had to re-create the mail.ru bookmark. It may not be the same as your situation but it seems similar enough to be worth checking out and you could make more sense of it than I could as I don't use mail.ru.

Dear Dev/OP,

I have other suggestions specially for connectivity. But you see how it is here! So I will refrain.

I've also seen brazen comments on Play Store about your app. Most people are decent people, but a few are completely shameless & pretend everyone is unable to read in black & white when they completely contradict themselves in their comments within a short time there. And pretend it never happened or when corrected as other comments refer to them there. Many devs are put off by such people on Play Store & elsewhere.

This is in a way, a dark age & such few run amok as we see shamelessly. But I insist you Disregard such negative comments there on Play Store + elsewhere whatever negative context & behavior they pretend & adopt. And to just continue your work, when you get time for this app.

Because it will help a lot of people. That's the main thing. Just remember most people are honorable decent people whatever a few do to ruin things but most will find your work useful for them

I use your app, mainly for WebDav connectivity, among several other pro versions of WebDav server-only apps.

I also appreciate your sense of style & aesthetics, it's one of the best designed amongst complex apps. Stylish whatever theme is chosen. The underlying infrastructure for themes is itself a masterpiece in design details.

And what you chose to create, genre of complex file manager, shows you have a noble intention in actually being helpful, not just try to cash in as many top apps do. Again many will notice these things which are the most important in the end.

You should not be over the post limit for attaching files, if there is even a limit anymore, and a MiXplorer log should not be too large. If you have a copy of the log for yourself you could search it for any instances of the words fail, or error, or encoder or other words relevant to playback. It might also be helpful to do some research to see if that is some known issue such as yet another kooky Google limitation even beyond MiXplorer.

Not a test or a joke, that really happened. A MiX user had been maintaining what as far as I know is the original skins gallery at that domain, where users could download or post skins. At some point they were deleted and no one noticed so that note was left there. The link you followed was to a specific set of skins at the domain. I think the loss of those skins was discussed at one point in the past. There are other skins/themes resources which you can find in the opening posts of this thread and in the skins and themes post of the FAQ

Just add a SMB drive and search locally, then you will find the WD for adding it.
