I thought Root Essentials was supposed to work.

I, like everyone else unfortunate enough to have the On5, am trying to adopt memory. I follow the instructions to the letter. The phone is rooted and RE has root access. I have a new SD card, 32G, SanDisk. I click adopt. It tells me to download a zip, then reboot the phone in recovery. Once there, I install the .zip I just downloaded. The CLI says that the installation was successful. It reboots. I open RE again expecting it to adopt the memory this time because after all, I just did what it said.

But no. It asks me, again, to download their stupid .zip.

So does anyone know an actual proven method that will get the On5 to adopt memory?

That's a really odd issue...

It seems as though RE isn't seeing/detecting that installation.

What is your system information (Firmware ROM, Android version, etc...)?

Any ideas @SuperThomasLab?

I have a rooted S7E, with a 128gb Sandisk sd card. It is a very fast card, and has never given me any problems. I've loaded RE, and tried to adopt storage. It tells me that there is "NO SD CARD". I take out my sd card, and put it back in. Then I try RE's again. Again it tells me there is no sd card, to install an sd card. So I format the sd card, thinking that has to help RE's, but to my amazement, still RE's says there is no sd card. Why? Please let me know where I am going wrong here. I'm experienced with flashing all kinds of custom roms and kernels, but have never run into this problem. Thanks.

1. NEVER should you quote OP as long like this one do.
2. It seems your device OEM choose not to include "install mode" (a.k.a. bootloader interface) and no custom recovery is made for your phone. So you cannot use this app in that way, sorry.

Why would you quote the entire OP?????? You should never quote a long page like that, taking up so much space.

ASPlugin.zip???

If anybody is still following this thread...

I have a rooted Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen. Model number: SM-P580. TWRP is installed.
Unfortunately I run into the following message when wanting to adopt my SD card (to format it as internal storage):

"Actions:

Root Essentials needs to flash a plugin.
1. Download: ASPlugin.zip.
2. Open: Flasher
3. Backup: Boot (kernel) partition
4. Please select a flashable zip: ASPlugin.zip.
5. Install
6. Run Adoptable Storage in Root Essentials again."

I downloaded the .zip file, but I just can't see what I need to do next. I THINK I installed the plugin. But when I reboot nothing has changed, still getting the same message.
What am I missing?? Is my device not supported? Can anybody give clear instructions?

Thank you for any help I can get (going crazy about always running out of space as the tablet doesn't recognize SD card).

Did you try to flash the zip via TWRP instead by use of RE's Flasher?

Thank you for your reply!

I don't see how I can do that?
I open TWRP and go to "TWRP Flash" and from there "Select a file to flash". From there I go to the SpeedSoftware folder where I can find the ASPlugin, but there is nothing I can open or flash.

I'm not good at this, no idea what I have to do.

    @SuperThomasLab

Is this app discontinued at all?

I just wanted to know because you used to update it every so often and it's been a long time now.

    Thank you.

Sent using The ClaRetoX Forum App on my SCH-I535 device.
Very good question and not easy to answer. Yes, I have plans to update Root Essentials, but...
    1. I am deeply involved in development of another app Hue Essentials (smartlights app).
    2. School cost me way too much time in the past year (Latin and Greek is getting more difficult if you skip too many lessons).
    3. When I wrote Root Essentials, I was only just able to do the first tricks on the phone and had hardly any deep knowledge of programming. I took up Hue Essentials to get me more into Java/Kotlin, etc and learnt a lot more. Now I feel that I would need to rewrite Root Essentials completely as I see my own errors.
    4. Many people do not use Root anymore. Android Pay troubles, Samsung Knox, etc. Is it still useful?
    5. Much functionality would require a new approach on newly targeted phones/Android version.

Most important thing is simply time. So, no deadline yet.

    Positive FeedBack on S5 G900F

so i tried the Latest 2.3.3 Root Essentials.
at first i did not understand why the "STORAGE" Tab on my phone gave me all kind of numbers. (i also b!tched about internal storage all over the web).
so Root Essentials is WORKING Awesome!
just Install, Go to Adopt Storage (i took 64GB and made them 50%, thats so i could hook it to pc and have the ability to work. if it will be 100% adopted, you wont see it on your PC)
so, after adopting, i set the phone and removed/installed all my UN/Favorite Apps.
aftre that (and that is the important thing: Go to MIGRATE DATA, Choose the 50% SD (that is adopted as internal), and from that SD Settings Tab Coose MIGRATE DATA.
    Thats It!!!!!!!
    WAW... Awesome App!
    Thank you.
    p.s.
i tried Root essentials for maybe 10 times before i got it right. i noticed that the plugin is doing nothing in my case.
    thank you.

    [EDIT]:
i did not quite on Root Essentials and investigated some more. happy to say i found a solution for S5 G900F, Android arshmallow 6.0.1.
    this is what i did:
    1. Root The Device
    2. Install Root Essentials
*note*: there is a plugin file that we need to flush using RootEssentilas, but we will be asked to do so only after : Adopting, and the Revertring. (on reverting we'll be asked to flush the plugin). So....
    3. Adopt the Sd. (Adopt the whole 100%)
    4. you will be asked to Reboot, so do so
    5. after rebbot, go to "Adopt SD" tab again, AND NOW "REVERT" the Process.
    * Now you will be Given Ifo To Download the Plugin and Flush it USING ROOT ESSENTIALS FLASHER TAB!
(you would be also asked to Backup System and such, I DID IT maybe 10 Times But NEVER BACKED UP ANYTHING! so IMO, you can skip the backup).
    6. Download the PlugIn
    7. In RootEssentilas goto "TOOLS" tab and then the "FLASHER" tab, Click "Flash Zip File" and then choose the Downloaded File to flush it.!
    8. After Flashing the Plugin Restart your Device
    9. NOW ADOPT the SD _ (i have 64gb, I choose 50% so ill be able to connect my phone to Pc and Still Get the other 50% to move Files from Pc to Phone)
***IMPORTANR*** _ YOUR PC WILL NEVER LOAD THE ADOPTED SD!!!! (so if you did 100% from 64GB you will see Only the Real Phisical Phone Storage, on S5 its either 16GB or 32GB)
    SO Choose 50% !
    10. After Adopting the SD, goto "STORAGE" tab on RootEssentilas , And then goto "APP INSTALL LOCATION" and Choose INSTALL ON SD!! (SAVE)
    11. Now install all your games and favorite apps (regullary!)
    *****************************************
    Now come the important Step
    ******************************************
    12. in RootEssentilas goto "ADOPTABLE STORAGE" tab and then goto "MIGRATE DATA" tab. Click on Migrate Data,
    Now pay Atention:
CHOOSE THE SD CARD That Was ADOPTED!!! _ (if you did 50%, the you will have 2 Sd Crads, one as Portable, And second wil be Writen As Oly "SD Card" Which is the Adopted AS Internal, So choose IT)!
after choosing the Adopted SD, Look On the Upper Right For the Three Dots of the Settings, clikc them for Settings and choose "MIGRATE DATA".
Let the Device to its trick, it will move anything it can.
you will see that your Orginal Internal Storage has more free space then Before the Migrate, And that the ADoptabe Storage Is getting Filled!.

    thats it my Friends.

    Hope This Help Someone.
if ill Do it again, Ill Make sure to Video it.
Specials Thanks for those Hard Core, Digging Friends that gave the the motivation to keep on.
    thnka you.
    3
Thanks for testing! It could be two things:
    1. The plugin is not compatible with your device (did you see errors during the script? Do you see "rebooting in 7 seconds..."?);
    2. The detection on the second round is not good and Adoptable Storage works (only you can tell me).
So here's an update of what happened last night as I was tinkering. I ended up unmonting the 32gb I had and reset the phone. I put a 16gb I had and BOOM! The set up option to format to internal popped up. So all in all it did work I just didn't know to unmount and remount. All is well now just the size of the space available and used that's showing is not correct and navigating through the it is a pain haha. Thanks a lot for your app!
