MUSIC TAGGER

What it does:

Music Tagger is a music tag editor that introduces automated features like lyrics grabbing & album art grabbing to make the process of tagging your song files quick and easy. Music Tagger also uses an audio identification system (like Shazam and Track ID) to automatically identify and tag your files individually or in batch. Album information is pulled from the MusicBrainz database which can also be directly accessed and tag information for each track downloaded and applied to files manually.
Music Tagger is also capable of organising and renaming your song files once they have been tagged.
Folders for artists and albums can be created and files renamed based on renaming structure selected from the given options.

Music Tagger automatically updates the Media Store Database when changes have been made to files to ensure changes reflect on all other media applications. Please take note that some music players use their own databases (like Google Play Music, Rocket Player, Double Twist and n7player) and may take longer to reflect changes to files, a manual update may need to be invoked within the application if it is possible.
Music Tagger Currently supports the following file formats MP3, FLAC , M4A and MP4 audio files only.

I've been working on Music Tagger and I don't really get enough feedback through the play store to help me fix bugs and add new features. It would be helpful if a few of you guys can take a bit of time to use the application and give me a few pointers on what can be improved what bugs you've spotted or new features that can be added. Thanks

Really good app! I have always wanted an mobile music tagger that can grab tags from musicbrainz. I'm using Musicbrainz Picard on my PC and this app almost beats it. But it has few problems that make it not so good to use.

Bugs (so far):

On my Note 3 (kitkat with sdcard reading fix) Song identifying takes for ever... around 5 minutes per song. At first I thought it was stuck... but then I let it run longer and it worked. Tag was saved quickly!

Features I would like:

✓ Better music manager is a must! (Add option to zoom out, because the file preview is to big and then it it hard to find stuff quickly.
Option to browse and autoscan music from folders)
Or option to open other file managers like Solid Explorer or ES file manager to pic files. (this I would prefer more!)

✓ Option to delete tag categories and album arts.

✓ Option to select album arts from file browser.

✓ Tagging from Discogs and fingerprinting from AcoustID would be nice but not mandatory.

After those features are added then it will be perfect. I would then prefer this app more than Picard.

Hi, thanks for giving the application a try.

- From what I understand KitKat doesn't allow apps to write to SD storage, I think this is something that I'm going to have to take a look at to see if there is any way around it.

- Currently Identifying a song is done by uploading the file to a server where it performs the audio fingerprinting, this process is dependent on your upload speed and is powered by The Echonest. However it should only be temporary, implementing AcousticIDs from Musicbrainz or using the Echonet's Echoprint API is on top of my feature list to improve the speed of auto tagging.

- What exactly do you mean when you say "option to delete tag entries and album arts"?... You can already delete album art from multiple files by selecting a file or a group of files from 'Edit Songs', Edit Albums' or 'Artists', swiping right to the final page which is 'Album Art' and pressing the 'Delete Album Art' button. This will remove album art from all of the selected files.

- "Option to select album arts form file browser." ... This is also already possible by selecting a song or a group of songs and swiping to the 'Album Art' tab and pressing the 'Add Album Art' button, this will present you with a list of apps you already have installed that you can use to select a picture to apply to the music file or files you have selected.

- Your suggestion to add a file browser is a good one I'll definitely add it to the list.

- In time I'll also take a look at the possibility of adding access to Disocgs.

Thanks for your suggestions, your feedback is appreciated.

Oh, I didn't see that you can swipe right to see more things... thanks for the tip!

Great app man. Good work. Could you perhaps reduce the font size on the main page a bit? Kinda redundant to scroll every time.

Few things I'd like to suggest.
- Could you add a sorting option to make songs/albums without album art appear on top?
- In batch edit, the track number should be masked. Not really an issue since it only edits the fields that are selected
- You should change the colour of the check marks. Blue gets camouflaged a bit :p
- A light theme perhaps?:)

I think we'll take a look adding more themes and changing the look of things a bit later for now we're focusing on adding features and dealing with bugs.

As for sorting we will definitely be adding an option to do so soon.

I haven't used the source page for finding song data and have a question:
Will this retrieve non-latin, most particularly (and as an example) Russian, song data? Often sites don't have the song data if the artist isn't popular in the U.S. or it inserts transliterated data or sometimes the app/program inserts non-unicode data and the text displays incorrectly (the main problem).

The application uses MusicBrainz as a source for the metadata, any artist there should be accessible through the application.

So, I checked the website and they had a few artists I searched for in both Russian and translit, but your app doesn't seem to play nice with Russian text. See the pictures. On the one with the semicolon (thanks windows) the artist name doesn't show up when,I go to edit it. On another file it just gives me "????????". This is usually caused by the text encoding not supporting the Cyrillic encoding for the Russian text.

Thanks for pointing this out, I'll take a look at allowing different encoding types when saving.

Well, the issue is also in reading, I have a German group with some.special letters which aren't displaying right. So far the app has failed on all auto tags I have tried to do. Is it possible to get more verbose errors, versus just saying that it failed? (Eg, ’failed: no match found').

This is a really nice app! Thank you! The audio fingerprinting works well. I think users may benefit from a quick look up feature. Say we have a partial tag (artist, song) or filename. That info could be used instead of uploading for fingerprinting. Saving on data usage is a plus. Possibly a choice of album and artwork as well. Throw that in a pro version and I'd buy it! Thanks again for all the hard work. Much appreciated.

Awesome app.. Would love to see an option to move all android database album covers to the media files themselves..
Doing this manually is quite an effort.
